Asheville to Orlando

This was my first time flying Allegiant and I genuinely think I would rather road trip than ever fly this line again. I flew from Orlando to Asheville on Friday and it was delayed not much like an hour okay. But now we were set to fly out from Asheville to Orlando at 10:03 time of departure and we waited at the airport since 9 (TSA closes at 9:30) and they told us at 2:27 am that our flight is cancelled. I understand things happen but it’s so frustrating that they’ve been telling us “It’s 100% you guys are flying”. Just wait it through just for when the plane finally arrives they cancel on us. And now we have to find our own rides and lodging for the night because the flight they rebooked us for isn’t until 3:00 pm. They did offer a voucher for a future flight and rebooked us for the 3:00 pm but the whole situation is just frustrating.

Just when you thought you’ve been through it all with this carrier.

I’ve been delayed almost every flight in the past, or straight up canceled. But had a new one today. While boarding we were informed the plane was over weight and they needed 4 pax to volunteer for a $500 voucher to take another flight. Problem is next flight isn’t until the 8th. Nobody takes it for this reason. So now they’re removing 10-15 suitcases randomly. Hopefully they’ll offer some vouchers to those who won’t get their bags until the 8th, I know I’d be screwed if mines left behind.

I'm so fed up with them

I'm so fed up with allegiant. My husband has been flying up from ST. Pete/Clearwater to Asheville (where I am right now) every other week for the past 3 month and I kid you not his flight was delayed EVERY.SINGLE.TIME. I just don't understand why this keeps happening. No explanation. Just "sorry, we're delayed". I wish there was an alternative but there isn't. I just had to vent. It's really getting old.

Am i safe on allegiant?

I’m flying allegiant tomorrow for the first time and I am nervous. Is it going to be a bumpy ride? Will it be a tough landing? Help! I am a very anxious flyer and usually loved delta to follow along with the flight info on the flight

Allegiant, Frontier or Breeze

I am currently a Captain at a regional and have to commute to work. My dream is to drive to work. I am in the Tampa area, these 3 airlines have a base in Tampa or PIE.
What is the best move? I could get MCO for while waiting for a spot to open in TPA, but my ultimate goal is TPA or PIE.

Stats:
3500 TT
300 PIC 121
1 failure: CFI
No degree

Notified during boarding that no pilot was available for flight

Currently waiting at Sanford International airport. Was told as we were boarding that there was no pilot for our flight. Like WTF, how was this not announced before priority boarding?

Someone has an 1.5 hrs to accept or flights would be cancelled. There goes for 4th of July plans.

I should expect a full refund as well, correct?!

Can I use this bag for my free personal item?

Looking for a personal item bag I can bring on my trip to Vegas. Was wondering if I can use this for my personal bag under seat? I’m not bringing any carry on or luggage.

Medical Supplies Specific Question

Hi everyone! I have type one diabetes and require a lot of medical baggage. Does anyone what the rules are for bringing an extra bag on? Everything personal fits perfectly in my backpack. But I have a smaller of the shoulder tote bag with all my medical supplies. Will I be able to bring this on the plane with no extra fee?

(I know that they have the right to search my bag to make sure it’s all medical supplies)

DOT violation

I was delayed flying from Pittsburgh to Sanford. Supposed to leave at 9p on the 29th, left at 11a on the 30th. Had to get an Uber from airport to hotel, pay for hotel, Uber back to airport. They gave us $200 cash back and a $100 flight voucher (split between two people). The $200 didn't cover all expenses from having to stay overnight. Their website AND DOT website both say they'll cover overnight accommodations and travel to and from the airport for a delay that results in an overnight stay.

I was lied to at the airport in PA, supervisor said they don't offer overnight accommodations but told me to call the customer service number. Called the customer service number at 8:30p and stayed on hold until midnight, finally hung up to get some sleep and they called us back at 3a (we didn't answer because we were sleeping)... Flew back on the 14 hour delayed flight and went to the allegiant desk to find out how to get our compensation, the (very nice) lady at the front desk called corporate to try helping us and they said "since you took the flight back, we owe you nothing". I asked for a supervisor and the shift lead called for the supervisor, I was told it'll be at least 30 minutes. I said I'm happy to wait and proceeded to do so, until 15 minutes in she told us the supervisor "doesn't want to come downstairs" and would not be coming. I think my brain popped a little bit at that point so we just left.

Does anyone have advice when filing a complaint with DOT? Wild that they'd prefer for me to handle it this way than attempt to find a proper resolution.

Pet Carrier Policy

Hi everyone. I am starting to have a mini freak out because my flight is tomrrow and I got an email about the dimensions for the pet carrier being 8”H x 14”W x 18”L. However, all the websites are saying 18”L x 12”W x 11”H. I believe there was a recent change to the dimensions for soft carriers to be 18”L x 12”W x 11”H now but I have been reading posts about being denied at the gate because the carrier was too tall and not 8" tall. Has anyone recently traveled with a pet with the carrier dimensions 18”L x 12”W x 11”H? I tried chatting with the agents and they just regurgitate what the website is saying which is 18”L x 12”W x 11”H but no one can acknowledge if there was a recent change from the 8”H x 14”W x 18”L dimesions to the 18”L x 12”W x 11”H.

Notified of a 15 hour delay 3 hours before boarding

AVL to SFB. Had to cancel and find a flight out of Charlotte instead. Cost 60% more.

My parents flew from PIE to AVL a couple of months ago and got delayed 6 hours. The time before that, when I flew to Cincinnati, there were 6-8 hour delays on both ends and I had go through Charlotte. Before that it was a 5 hour delay to Knoxville.

I'm done. AVL is so easy to get in/out and is super convenient but, at this point, they just are reliable.

Two full days lost to fly 1.5 hours, is this normal?

I just flew a direct round trip flight to see family. The priory tickets were first row, aisle seats. Both flights were early to mid morning to accommodate plans after arrival.

On the outbound flight, my flight was cancelled 7 hours before it was to depart. There was no explanation or notice - just my app told me it was cancelled.

An hour plus was spent using the website to rebook, and everything ended in an ‘oops’ message and failed to rebook.

I had a family member try to resolve the booking and they were on hold for 2.75 hours, and kept getting told their hold times were lengthening but never got to a person.

I checked weather and there was no activity in our around the full route.

I drove to the airport and got myself rebooked using the ticketing counter. The best option was a new flight leaving at 5pm and it landed an hour away from my original destination. If I wanted the same airport, earliest would be 4pm the next day, 20 hours after original flight departure time.

On the return flight, my 10am flight was NOT canceled, but the night before I was moved to a 4pm flight and stuffed into a middle seat. This was done by the airline for no apparent reason.

All in all I lost two days to travel mayhem from Allegiant. I’ve never flown budget before but know other people swear by it. Is this just how things roll on the regular for budget lines?

Broken bathrooms

First (maybe last) time flying Allegiant. The flight boarding before ours, also Allegiant, has no working bathroom and they warned passengers to go before boarding. They just announced the same thing for our flight. Both 2.5-3 hour flights. WTF... Is this a known problem with them?

EDIT: Apparently they misspoke and our flight was fine bathroom wise after all.

New one for Allegiant: "Weight and balance"

Oh, Allegiant. Taking a page out of the most recent Southwest Shitshow Handbook. MULTIPLE announcements about not moving seats due to "weight and balance issues." The guy next to me and I had a good chuckle over that one. 90% full flight. No chance in hell me moving from my aisle seat to the window seat in my same row was going to cause a crash. Give me a break, Allegiant.

Conflicting pet carrier information...

I am so confused. I received an email telling me the following: "Allegiant welcomes small dogs and cats as pets within a preferred soft-sided carrier no larger than 8”H x 14”W x 18”L. Pets must fully remain in the carrier for the duration of the flight. Please visit our Traveling with Pets page for additional tips for traveling with a pet."

I go to that page, which is what I had referenced when purchasing the carrier. "A soft-sided carrier may be no larger than 18”L x 12”W x 11”H when fully closed to contain the pet."

Sooooo which is it? I'm seeing horror stories of people getting turned away at check-in, but also there is approximately one 8 inch tall option I'm finding online which seems awfully small, even for a small cat. Don't they need to abide by TSA regulations for the pets comfort above all?

UPDATE: called their customer service and the automated response said 11" h for soft side and 10.5" h for hard side carriers is acceptable, which matches the website. I'm going to go with that and hope for the best. Seems the 8" h might be an outdated standard.

PGD delays today

Anyone know what the issue was at Punta Gorda PGD this afternoon? My flight is delayed 2+ hours going to PGD due to the plane being delayed out of PGD to my airport this afternoon. Looking on the PGD website it seems many flights were delayed this afternoon?

Seasonal Routes- when are the dates generally confirmed?

TL;DR: This is mostly a vent. But if anyone with more experience with this airline knows when they "set in stone" their seasonal dates usually I'd really appreciate some wisdom

Before anyone mentions, yes, I did try asking Allegiant support. More than once. They weren't helpful. All they say is that they add new dates every 2-3 months and they do not know specifics about the route. Have you signed up for the email list? Yes, and nothing has been sent in the last 2 months. Is there anyone else I can talk to? Nope.

I'm trying to figure out when a FL-based seasonal route will end next year. In years past, the dates have been more like Dec-March. The dates I was looking to travel were Feb 20- Mar 6, which has been covered for the past several years of seasonal flights.

For the past two months, the route has been populated with dates from Nov 18- Feb 6.

I wanted to know if Feb 6 is the end of the seasonal offering. I asked support and all they said was to keep checking back for more dates, with no confirmation on if Feb 6 was the end or not.

It's been two months and no more dates have been added. I'm going a bit stir crazy and need to let family know my travel plans soon so they can book their own flights and accommodations as this location fills up quick in advance.

If I need to switch to end my vacation on Feb 6 I can. But I need to actually get a confirmation!

(The reason I was preferring Feb 20 is because my child will be 2 by then, but not 2 by the 6th. I asked support if CARES harnesses can be used by a child under 2 as long as they meet the weight limit, because I was getting conflicting answers on their FAQ (one page said yes, one page said they had to be 2). They claimed it was fine. But I'd prefer to cover my bases since I will not be bringing a car seat. The last thing I want is for support to say one thing then when we get on the plane, the flight attendant says another.)
