175cms, 89 kilos, cis male. I feel like it's too corny to dress alternative for my silhouette, wide hips and thighs. I don't go to the gym.

At what point can I dress alt, and if there are inspos for alt fat dudes please let me know.

This is my first time doing anything on Reddit so I have no clue what I'm doing anyways a while ago I was bored and decided to look up alternative stuff to see what it was all about cuz I was curious and I found out that I have alternative views. I guess he basically from what I've heard my view is on. Things are very similar to most alternative people's views and I have an alternative friend so I told my friend about it. My friend told me that I was the exact opposite of alternative in terms of how I dress and said that I am the most basic dressing person ever which is fair. My style is as unique as unflavored chapstick but I have heard that your views are more important to being alternative than your style but my friend is saying it's more about style I wish I was alternative. I feel like it would be infinitely better than whatever the fuck my style is right now and hopefully in the future I can figure out my style, but currently I am more confused about what makes an alternative person alternative. Is it the views? Is it the style? Is it something else

I don't know if this entire thing sounds like I'm insane or not. This is my first time doing anything on Reddit so don't judge me or whatever

I'm looking for tips on how to still express my alternative style once it starts getting colder and I have to cover up more. My tattoos get covered up when I wear warmer clothes in the winter. I can't dye my hair fashion colors or go too crazy with my hair bc I'm an elementary teacher. I dress alternative outside of work but I definitely feel like I could "level up." Sometimes I can't help but compare myself to others, and alt people in my area (Seattle) all look so much cooler than me!

Hello I’m new to the alt community in general I’m 16f I’m still doing research but from what I’ve looked into I think I classify as alt?

I’ve really only ever worn shirts and shorts bc I have sensory issues but I recently tried some different things and it’s not as bad as I thought but now I want to explore fashion more because I’ve never liked the way I dress

I think I saw someone say cottagecore was alt, I’ve always liked the style and nature elements but I’ve started liking grungy outfits (apologies if that’s not the right term) how do I even begin to combine them? I have like one outfit that’s decent and I like it but I’m not even sure how to make and actually outfit because I’ve never really even tried until recently. Any tips of making outfits?

Also getting clothes I did get some from hot topic at some point (ofc only after finding out it’s not ethical) I’m still gonna wear them bc I like them and already have them but where do I get ethical clothes that aren’t expensive, or ways I could make my own? Tho I don’t know how to sew or any craft related to clothes.

How do I gradually start dressing alt? I dress basic af, and changing my style drastically is scary.

Is Amazon okay? (Gift cards) I know it’s probably not ethical but my family is definitely not alt and gives gift cards occasionally and i don’t want to just not use them, especially caz i don’t have a job or money -_-

Lastly how do i accessorize? I have basically nothing to do this with and right now my only option is amazon which again I’m hesitant to use, I don’t have anything in my area that I know of (or a car) but I have old clothes that are either not my style or not good sensory wise. Is there anything I can do with them? Again I can’t see or anything plus I don’t have materials except for embroidery thread. Just diy tips in general would be cool tho!!

Would appreciate people’s take. I don’t love the traditional hem or the ribbed band at the collar, so I often cut them off. What’s your take on this look vs. leaving shirts intact?
