Question about cleaning the common wealth.

I play of PS4 personally, but I watch a lot of people on YouTube who appear to play on PC. I have been watching a series about cleaning the commonwealth by placing portable workbenches down anywhere.

Does doing so actually make the game run better, since less items are being loaded? Or does it break the game because unexpected items were deleted?

I’m just curious, I am currently doing a completely unmodded run but I can’t help but think it would be really cool in the future to run through a much cleaner common wealth.

Best "mega" settlement

I recently got back into playing, and so far 70% of my playtime is just building up sanctuary (Abernathy too, a little, they need more friend), 20% is grabbing literally everything I can use as material, and the other 10% is "normal" gameplay.

Any suggestions for something better than sanctuary, or suggestions on how I should build sanctuary? I'll add some screenshots in the comments later, I'm currently running on fumes, looking for a little civil discussion before I crash.

Project Aegis: X6-88's containment cell. It represents our primordial test, and at the same time, our first catastrophic system error. (Full Lore in comments)

The Minute-Clinic. Part of my Cul-De-Sac Sanctuary rebuild project. They are fortunate at Sanctuary to have plenty of salvaged medical supplies from the nearby Vault.

Hangman’s Alley the ultimate veranda

Configuration: Xbox X, no mods, Fo4 + Anniversary Edition, Very Hard mode.

Goal: Create a central base with onsite income/retail.

Location & Design: Hangman’s Alley, single level off-ground living quarters with an outside veranda and strong defence.

Status: New build, limited resource and crafting capabilities.

I’ve said in previous posts, I always take Hangman’s Alley before Preston sends me, usually triggered by dealing with raiders in Back Street Apparel.

Once the raiders are cleared out, I clear existing buildings and junk away, and the building starts with steel-steps and wood floors, steel-posts, warehouse walls and a concrete post for positioning the base floor. I keep adding floor blocks, then jiggle position until it’s in the perfect spot. Patience is required and time. It’s worth the effort, trust me.

I like verandas, which you may have seen in earlier builds. Somewhere to sit and ponder the carnage of my efforts in the Commonwealth. So this build has a full wrap-around veranda on three sides that I’m quite pleased with. It will look cool once decorated and lighting installed.

I also decided to have a fully raised area from the west entry steps. This will have minimum planting beds for three settlers and a single farmer.

Ultimately, I will have two shops, general and weapons, which makes it easier to grab some cash. I handpick the settlers from other settlements, and I’ll give them decent armour and weapons.

So this is just the start and I’ll upload a video once it starts to be fully decorated.

Basement Living - Backyard Bunker

I rarely build in a pre-war style, but for this bunker I really wanted it to look like it was all set up pre-war, maybe visited every few months and just never used after the bombs fell. The only other thing to mention is the stained glass Nuka-Cola lamp. I'd buy one in real life if I could. Thanks for checking it out. Feedback welcome.

Fallout 4 settlements - More settler jobs

Thought it would be useful to share the below X-Box list for those of you who like settlement building. I love mods that add new settler jobs and always thought there were too few jobs available in vanilla. Here is my list of tried and tested mods that add additional jobs and have been stable for me. I've not included Sim Settlements in this.

Let me know if you can think of others.

* Salvage Beacons by Kinggath - Settler man's a radio station allowing items to be collected from any container and brought back to your settlement

* Better Stores by blazeda59 - Adds butchers (like Diamond City) who provide 10 food

* Fast Travel Cars by CodyTheRat - adds a driver who mans a vehicle, allowing you to fast travel to other settlements

* Northland Diggers Resources Animals by St0vie - Adds a huge amount of jobs, similar to scavenging stations which provide specific resources such as tax collectors, mail sorting, aluminium scavs, wood scavs, circuitry scavs

* Gone Hunting/Fishing by Seraph1122 - Adds new food sources such as fishing traps and hunting stations

* Settlement Repair Bot and Settlement Police Bot by Athelbras - Adds protectrons to your settlement. The first automatically repairs damaged items and the second acts as a guard and increases defence

Fairline Hill: Institute Refugee Settlement

After the destruction of the Institute, refugees were taken to the relatively unused Fairline Hill Estates. What started off as a prison camp slowly turned into a thriving settlement. While there is still much to do, the Institute survivors are slowly rebuilding under the eye of the Minutemen. Fearing resentment, the settlement has been fully integrated into the United Commonwealth, hosting their own militia division and providing much needed knowledge to the settlements.

When the Commonwealth Met the North: Kattegat Memories

Today, I want to take you back to Nordhagen Beach to look at an old build that marked my very first steps into themed settlement building. We are talking about several years ago.

Back then, the legendary first season of the TV show Vikings was airing. I was so captivated by that imagery that I decided to rebuild my own personal Kattegat right on the beaches of the Commonwealth. No steel, no advanced electricity: just wood, palisades, campfires, and the sound of the sea.

When editing the video, I used clips of the music and scenes from the show's opening credits; in fact, in a few spots, you can actually catch the original logo of History Channel, the network that broadcasted it at the time.

Looking back at this build today definitely hits differently. It’s raw, it’s simple compared to what I build now, but it has an incredible soul and proves that, in the end, Fallout 4 has always been a blank canvas for any kind of dream.

Did you guys start out like this too, getting inspired by your favorite TV shows at the time?

Bookstore at Sanctuary (FO4/PC/modded)

Have been working on a cozy little bookstore located in Sanctuary… felt a bit extra and gave the employees some uniforms. And an obligatory bookstore cat.

I have given the family of Somerville Place some ammenities. Walled it off and added a couple of buildings an settlers and a robot to help them out. (I used cc content and glitches. Its unmodded otherwise)

The original dad and two kids got a store, greenhouse and two settlers to help them out beingbeing so close to the Glowing Sea. I tried to make it look like a Minutemen aligned homestead.
