HELP I THOUGHT COTTAGE CHEESE WAS LIKE GREEK YOGURT AND I CANT STOP SHITTING MYSELF

ok very stupid of me to assume cottage cheese and greek yogurt had similar levels of lactose bc I can eat greek yogurt all day no problem but essentially I ate a bowl of cottage cheese a day for a week to protein max until I realized - after literally sharting myself that I should probably check and see how much lactose it has and obviously to my dismay it has a shit ton which explains why I was experiencing awful gas, full body fatigue and exhaustion, headaches etc and anytime I eat
Anything it comes out liquid lmao. any tips or tricks to firm up my stool?? I threw away all the cottage cheese and ate some bread and chicken with quinoa and leafy greens this morning but then I literally shit myself twice at the grocery store and have had liquid poop all day. usually in the past when I ate lactose it just gave me gas and acne but please help me figure out whats safe to eat lol

The older I get the worse it gets

Cramping and thinking... I'm in my late 30s. Early 30s when I would risk it all for some ice cream, I didn't suffer the consequences until the next day. Now, I'm lucky if I make it three to four hours. At this point, I'm thinking I only need to put myself through this on special occasions and not because it's a Tuesday night and I want to eat my stress. Ironically enough, I can eat other dairy products. I mean not in abundance but a bagel with cream cheese, a slice of pizza, even cheesecake won't do me in as bad. But with ice cream, it appears it is time we part ways. Much like with my ex Dr. Pepper, this toxic relationship has gone on long enough. We've had our fun. The extra 87 pounds I'm carrying speaks to how much fun we've had. All the more reason to let it go.

Major issues with dairy and about to travel

I’m suddenly having some major reactions to dairy, where before it was pretty minor. I tried lactaid and have had mix results. We’re about to go to Paris and I’m nervous I won’t be able to eat anything. Any advice is appreciated and tips as well (I’m considering going to the doctor if there is anything she can do)

PS-I also have issues with Gluten, and yesterday I went to an exclusively GF restaurant and it was bad

I can't eat dairy but butter is okay?

I realised I couldn't eat dairy a few years ago and transitioned from lactose-free to no dairy. But I've noticed that when butter is an ingredient in baked items like cookies, biscuits, cakes, and manufactured packaged goods, it's been okay? The only exception.

(I think fresh butter was also okay - in moderation, a swipe on a sandwich for example - a couple years ago but i haven't had it in a while so I'm not sure about it anymore because obviously intolerance is a mercurial beast.)

Is butter an interesting exception for anyone else, or does anyone know why?

Need Some Advice

I'm 21(F). For almost a year now I have been just having trouble consuming diary as it has gotten worse and worse. AndI do have other food intolerances such as gluten, apples, onion, garlic, and mostly beans (IBS-C). Along with that I'm someone who had has chronic acne I'm taking like not only my face but also my chest, legs, shoulders, back, etc since I was 11.

Last year I notice my stomach started to get upset when I use butter with eggs for a few months, took butter away completely and replace it with a bit of oil: everything fine. Did this from now on because all I gotten was a bit upset.

It eventually turn to me burping constantly 24/7 eating, getting gas, nauseous & acid reflux, gurling,, hard bloating, painful gas passing through it was just constant.

When I saw my GI for the first time she recommended me a low fodmap diet did the diet and found diary is the most serious trigger. To the point where my acne has basically cleared up like I didn't even have acne. So when I told her gluten and diary was a serious trigger I did all the regular testings. Everything came back normal for the tests they wanted me to do to rule out more serious conditions.

I just ate a orange chocolate kitkat two days ago because I been craving one and haven't had one in a while. Just one and the next day I just had the worst upset stomach at work, gurling, full on diahrea, nauseous, like I didn't want to even finish my dinner. As of this morning my stomach is still upset. Not as bad as the day before but it's the cramping and feeling really yucky inside.

when I did do the low fodmap diet my Nana accidentally got me a diary dilly bar at Diary Queen. Either way I ate because at least I know I will have the symptoms or not. Not even a hour in just constant burping, hard gas again, upset stomach, etc.

I ask my primary doctor to do a lactose breath test or anything very similar and he told me they aren't always accurate. I told him I understand but I think I really need it because the amount of pain I'm in just for when using a bit of butter, eating small candy bars that has diary (I did try chocolate with no diary no issues at all) but just the amount of how much my acne has also changed its amazing.

I did even try lactose free cream cheese and milk, no issues at all but still mild breakouts here and there but still not as painful.

Has anyone have any similar situations? I will reach out to my GI doc directly to get the lactose test but in the meantime has anyone experienced very similar just by eating a small amount of diary its very painful.

It's sucks because I used to be able to eat all these foods. I love butter with eggs and I know butter doesn't have a lot of lactose but I still get the same reaction every time. I even try A2 milk because my gi doctor told me some people cant handle A1 milk but can handle A2 milk better, i try two separate times and still got the same reaction..but it seems like I mostly get it the next day.

I’ve just been tapped. Tell me it gets better.

I’ve figured I’m LI for a long time but just got told by my doctor through a pathogen blood test that’s the rumors are true. I’m 20F and don’t even know where to start when it comes to this life. None of my family is dairy free, and I’m a college student who spends a check on ice cream and various dairy-ridden self-indulgence tools to stay mentally well on the regular. Is there a light at the end of the tunnel? Also if anyone has good dairy free ice cream recs, lmk 💔

Sometimes I wish I didn't have intolerance.

I'm not even kidding, I take group therapy every Wednesday, and Just this last Wednesday, my group therapy session had ice-cream, and meanwhile my dumbass was just sitting there awkwardly, feeling more left out than that one guy standing in the corner at High School Prom.

This is mainly because I have Lactose Intolerance, like everyone else here. But in my case, It's to the degree that I my Literal Guts will have physical pain if I drink/eat stuff containing or made up of Raw Milk/Dairy. That and If I do not head to the bathroom within a minute of consuming a Drink/Food Item with Dairy, I will almost literally shit my guts out.

Please note that the last part I just mentioned is something that actually happened, as I head Internal-Hemorrhage as a Child from eating ICE CREAM. I luckily survived, but I was thereafter completely traumatized so much that I now reject the thought of eating Ice Cream.

Hell It's not even just Ice Cream. I can't even have CAKE, honestly. For Christ's sake, I can't have CAKE, without the milk being Dairy-Free. I genuinely feel sometimes that I'm just cursed with intolerance out of spite from God.

Worst part? My many friends think I'm weird for not trying to take the risk (though to be fair, I haven't explained my trauma about ever, so that may be the problem.) It's also all of my friends, not just a few. Even my closest friends and My ex, who i'm best friends with, agrees.

It's mostly just that I feel completely left out in certain situations and events when something involving Dairy, since I'm completely afraid to even try it.

Extremely intolerant people, how much lactase do you take?

I’m either not taking enough, or I am sensitive to something else in the dairy. It’s been more than two years now since I became intolerant and I haven’t figured this out. Does anyone need to take like 50,000 FCC or more of lactase in order to be confident that you will be ok? Should I be doing this?

Switching to lactose free milk

Hello, so in short i started a new diet a while a ago which i have to consume daily 500-750 ml of full fat milk , I usually don’t seem to have a problems with that but sometimes it gets really gassy and problematic inside you know

So I’m really considering to switch to lactose free milk as it widely available here at same price range

So my question would it be the right move ? Would i notice a difference and is there any downsides for this?

I hope someone had the same experience before

Has anyone else noticed lactose free milk products are not lactose free in the last year?

While I am severely lactose intolerant I have been able to consume certain varieties of cheese like gruyere problem free and in the last 14 years since my diagnosis lactose free dairy coffee creamers were fine. However, over the last year I have become gravely ill from all lactose free dairy coffee creamers, especially Lucerne. My Galbana lactose free provolone has been causing issues for me and others I know. My mom’s Lactaid brand milk has been giving her issues in addition to the milk spoiling within a week of purchasing it, despite expiration labeling with 1 month left.

Has anyone else noticed a severe decline in quality control of lactose free dairy products lately? I wonder if relaxed FDA standards could be playing a role.

Found this dairy free protein powder. Its not grainy at all. They have a low sugar version and a stevia version.

The nutrition facts are for the cinnamon roll flavor which only comes in low sugar. Some flavors like chocolate come in both versions. They have a limited time flavor which is chocolate churro. They released a sample pack recently if you want to try many flavors including unflavored. I like it. I mix with a milk frother and it mixes just fine with no clumping or grainy texture at all. The cinnamon roll just delivered 30mins ago so I'm trying it now. The chocolate flavor has a stronger taste compared to cinnamon roll and all I use is water no milk.

sensitive to all food for a few days after incident?

it seems that even after stopping dairy, I still occasionally get cramping and bathroom runs for a few days. like I'm more sensitive?

I've just gotten used to having lactose intolerance, I didnt know I had this. And my last incident consuming dairy has made me sensitive up to 4 days later. So I'm opting for reallt simple meals, gentle meals. But I'm still getting cramping and bathroom runs. Apparently its because of sensitivity of the intestines still
