How to mend these loosely woven parts of a fabric?

This scarf has some "loosely woven" strips towards the border and it is tearing apart in multiple places. How do I mend it, and ensure it doesn't tear in the future?

Is it possible to mend this?

This is the tie for a really light flowy dress. Im hoping for a subtle mend, but it doesn't have to be perfect because it'll be kind of disguised when tied up in a bow.

Any help appreciated!

Fix stray thread?🧵

I bought this second-hand Fendi Baguette. It appears that one of the woven strands was cut somehow - now I risk further fraying. Any ideas on how to glue the fibers down? Something that won’t yellow or deteriorate the other threads? Thanks 🙏

Can I mend this?

Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if this looks like it could be mended? It's a curtain made of natural fibres (not sure exactly what) and I think the culprit was a cat.

My idea was to try weaving similar thread through the holes? Not a perfect fix but that's okay.

Thankyou!

Any ideas on how to mend this?

I picked these shorts up at a sample sale and did not realize they had a small tear in them. It’s a very clean tear and almost looks like it was done with a box cutter. They are lined and the liner is undamaged (yay!). It’s in a place where it won’t be noticeable, but I’m curious if anyone here has recommendations on what I could do to reinforce this so the tear does not get worse. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

how can I sew a hole in my jeans with a sewing machine??

I have a pair of jeans that I love sooo much and suddenly a hole appeared where the knee area is when I had bent down for something. Is there a way to fix it with a sewing machine instead of hand sewing?

I tried to hand sew but it was very loose and the hole just got bigger, so idk how i’d even approach it with a sewing machine. I’m also worried about sewing the pant leg shut, and when i try to fold out the pants so it’d just close the hole it’s all scrunched and very awkward. I’m completely new to this and have only made some shirts smaller in the waist so far :(

I hope what i’m saying makes sense It’s all kind of hard for me to explain!

How to mend this?

Tried stitch wichery plus a piece of fabric but it would not bond.
It is a Tommy Bahama men's shirt and the blue part is where the buttons are.
Thanks

how to stop paint chipping and is there any way to fix it?

this is my favorite wallet, i use it every day and im not at all ready to let go yet 😭 mostly im concerned about the paint chipping off inside but im also curious if i could get the outside cleaner without just stripping the design. im on a tight budget so i cant really afford to just take it to the cleaners or a professional.. pls let me know if this isn’t the right subreddit 😅

Any way to fix my bag?

I got this bag a long time ago & it was my favorite for all that time. I stopped using it cause the straps started disintegrating. Now, anything that has that vinyl material looks awful. Is there any way to fix this? Or is it beyond repair?

Any repurposing ideas are welcomed!

Mending buttonhole

Hello. My partner purchased a shirt on clearance, the buttonhole is frayed and the button was inserted in a fault outside the actual hole (tried best to demonstrate this). I’m looking for ideas or advice on how best to approach mending this. I’ve got basic sewing skills and a machine, though thinking hand sewing will be best here.

I wondered if blanket stitching with a close match thread would be best? Darning or reinforcing the fault side of the buttonhole with a patch? The fabric is polyester.

Thanks!

How to fix sweatpant drawstring?

https://preview.redd.it/lm2skx6yo3hh1.png?width=1600&format=png&auto=webp&s=78dc94020d85f3ca7b1673dce8647ce97c54c2ba

The pic is just from the internet, it's very similar or might even be the same sweatpants I have. I now have a few of these sweatpants with broken drawstrings. I'm wondering if anyone knows how to fix them? I've looked through several youtube videos, but they all give solutions for drawstrings that are 1 string, whereas mine are two separate strings (right and left), which are attached to the pants themselves at the back. To show you what I mean, this video actually shows these types of pants. It's the pink pants (video will start at relevant time). Thanks for any help you can offer!

Can these jeans be saved? I have absolutely no idea how this happened.

I've been wearing these for about 7 years, one day they ripped around the butt and I just kept wearing them. This is where we're at now. They're really baggy also

any hope for a snagged/pulled sweater?

I bought a new knitted sweater and as our washing machine had broke, sent it off along with the rest of our laundry to the laundromat, not sure what happened there but it came back like this. I am wondering if there is any way to fix the issue, as I really like the sweater and would really want to keep it!

Firework repair for my kid’s socks whilst away in France

Took these socks away with me to repair whilst on holiday in France last week :)

Thought he’d appreciate the firework repair style, luckily they were just worn very thin, and hadn’t quite made actually holes as this was much easier to mend!

Is this rip mendable?

I stepped down off a high stool and ripped the hell out of my favourite pair of jeans. I am a very new beginner sewist and want to
try mending these if possible, but the rip is really big and in a high stress spot. It connects all the way to the crotch seam and continues to rip in the other direction if I wear them.

Is it possible? Is there a technique and fabric anyone recommends? Should I just take it to a professional?

Fixing a frayed seam in a vintage skirt

I noticed a fraying seam on a vintage skirt I really like (pic 1). Took out all the stitching/serging - the inside pair of pins show the damaged area, the outside pair are where I ripped back to (pic 2); pic 3 is the damaged fabric. Pic 4 shows the trimmed and resewn seam, blended into the original seam; I use a 3-step zigzag for finishing on repairs like this. Pic 5 is the repair from the outside. Pic 6 shows an example of other damage I found on the skirt seams - I reinforced them all while I had matching thread going.

I do recommend taking the time to take seams apart like this for sturdy and lasting repairs.
