Propagation question re lavender

Hello - have propagated my garden lavender - do I need to put a plastic bag over the top as some gardening accounts have suggested? It’s hot here right now - no rain, south London for location context - and how often do I need to water it - some say “mist/spray every day” some are saying don’t water? Any advice welcome thank you!

Firework repair for my kid’s socks whilst away in France

Took these socks away with me to repair whilst on holiday in France last week :)

Thought he’d appreciate the firework repair style, luckily they were just worn very thin, and hadn’t quite made actually holes as this was much easier to mend!

Plain oatmeal or strawberries and peanut butter?

It’s been a while my porridge friends - here’s the debate from earlier today - you can guess which one is mine and which is my husband’s right? Plain oatmeal or strawberries and peanut butter seeds and honey 🤭

I have a workaround, but is there a correct way of adding closed captions to the imported audio?? at the moment I have to save the video, and then import it back in to add them 😳

Amazing repair work on this beautiful hand turned bowl

I recently visited Knepp to see the work of Jubal Prevatte, a collaborative project with the beavers and the land and the Woodturner. Honestly awesome stuff! Loved how Jubal “repaired” his bowl like this - pure art.

Keeping cool. Heavy hint for me to turn the tap to ‘drizzle’

He’s been there 10 mins, his tail is soaking wet, and he’s enjoyed a little “paw drink” from the dripping tap. Kipper you darling kitty.

Village life (in London)

This little park really is so lovely, and the perfect temperature at 7pm. You’d think you were in a village miles from London, but I can walk to three different tube stations from here. Just in case anyone thinks it’s all doom and gloom in London - it’s not, and everyone I walked passed said “good evening” :-)

Leather repair question

So I am going to repair this two seater sofa, and replace the seat cushions pads / what can I use - household products - to moisturise and bring this leather back to life? For context, the sofa is maybe 20 years old - could I use olive oil or something like that? Or hair conditioner? Basically I don’t want to order yet more products for it if I have something that I can use at home already!

Also - I cover the seat with a blanket for aesthetics and my sister is vegan so I want to make it comfortable for her to sit on 😳

Saved these holey heeled socks from landfill today

After my epoxy glue debacle, I’m back on safe ground saving a pair of socks from landfill. And learning duplicate stitch in a skill-swap with another visible mender today. Definitely zero waste as I’m saving all the trimmed ends of yarn to make paper clay :-)

Hopefully this will work!

I’ve repaired a friend’s butter dish lid this weekend, hoping the epoxy will be strong enough as this is used daily and I’m worried that one knock and it’ll be in two pieces again!?

Pin cushions 1914 - 1920

Never seen anything like this - took these photos at this exhibition of pin cushions - These were mostly made, using kits, by soldiers serving in the First World War (1914-18).
Commonly known as 'sweetheart pincushions', they were, in fact, mostly gifted to mothers, often at Christmas.

Cushion kits could be purchased from Post Offices and the YMCA youth charity, at regimental bases and on the front line.
The Post Office delivered the boxes, containing the made-up gifts, back home, free of charge. The exhibition is at the Fashion & Textile Museum in Bermondsey.

Unreal scenes - never quite get over this location, I always stop for a look

London, you never cease to surprise me.
On my bike ride today - I’ve walked this route so many times now (thank you Go Jauntly) just really for this one spot.

Lush walk to National Trust Morden Hall Park via Merton Abbey Mills

Clocking up some steps for the Everyday Mountains Challenge today, and totally feel so much happier having cover 13000 steps and finished with iced coffee (in my own cup) and a bun from the food market, with a friend. Can highly recommend.

Brand new bottle of ginger beer - time is money, took me 45 minutes to clear this up 😳

Opened the fridge door to feed the cat, not wearing any shoes, bottle fell out of the fridge and smashed on the floor, cutting my toe, and spraying ginger beer all over the walls, floor, and cat. And I was meant to be on a zoom call…
