Best way to tour Pompeii from Naples? Car, train, or bus tour?

Hey there!

A couple of friends and I will be in Naples during the first week of September and we want to do a day trip to Pompeii. We will have a rental car with us. What is the best way to visit Pompeii from Naples?

  1. Take the car and park somewhere. Book a longer guided tour of Pompeii and Vesuvius
  2. Take the train and book the guided tour of Pompeii and Vesuvius
  3. Book a bus tour

that

  1. departs from Naples and takes us to Pompeii/Vesuvius. I’ve read that these bus tours can feel a bit rushed and don’t give you as much time on the actual tour?

Any tips would be appreciated! Cheers!!

Looking for authentic Naples recommendations & creative community

Ciao :) I’m a 28F living in Naples and lately I’ve been trying to actually experience the city more instead of staying in my routine all the time.

I shoot film photography and have been spending weekends wandering neighborhoods, taking ferries to random places, finding little coffee shops, vintage markets, art events, and trying new food spots. I’m also slowly learning Italian and trying to push myself out of my comfort zone a bit more.

I was wondering if anyone knows of:
- film photography groups
- creative/art communities
- flea or vintage markets
- café or language exchange groups
- local events worth checking out
- or just people who also like exploring Naples this way

Not really looking for tourist stuff — more interested in authentic spots and meeting people who spend time or live here and love the city.

Grazie ❤️

Can you cross this field?

I'm going to rent a car at the airport but I don't want to pay for the Alibus. I was thinking of taking the tram (421) and walk the last way but jesus this is a detour. Does anyone know if you can cross this area?

Napoli Beaches

I am arriving Napoli today, and I would like to go for a swim at a beach somewhere. My hostel is around 20 mins from Napoli Centrale.

What are some good beaches to go to? I've looked into Gaiola Beach but it feels a bit far, there's also the Mappatella Beach. Is the distance to Gaiola beach worth it or is Mappatella good enough?

Violazione alle norme del codice della strada

Hi guys!

Around 10 months ago I visited Napoli for a few days. The time was awesome, good food, nothing to complain about.

I also rented a small car for 2 days to visiti Amalfi and Pompeji. I am an experienced driver, was in many countries but this was by far the worst experience I had in Europe😂 (and yes, my rear window got smashed but they couldn‘t steal anything and insurance covered the damage so no big trouble)

Today I received two letters from Comune Di Napoli regarding fines. It says „Circolava nella zona a traffico limitato vialando il divieto di circolazione“ which translates to I drove into a walking only zone? It also says there was a big lightened sign informing about this and I was captured by a camera.

The street is „varco di via mezzocannone“, which is 1-2 streets away from where my hotel was. I don‘t remember any sign, looked up on google streetview, also nothing to see. Just many cars going trough and parking in this street. One letter is from 09:48 in the morning and one from 15:59 in the evening.

Also: exactly in this street I was „forced“ to pay parking money to a mafia parking guard. On the last day I told him I will pay tomorrow but never came back.

I don‘t want to pay this blind, maybe anyone knows if this fine is justified? Has it something to do with the guard?

Kind regards :)

Question about a shirt

Hi all,

I am coming to Napoli for a day and planning to just walk around, see the main spots, eat local food etc

Bit of a random question would it be weird or disrespectful if I wore a Napoli shirt while I’m here?

I’m an Arsenal fan, but Napoli is my Serie A team and I’ve got a Napoli shirt with Mertens on the back.

I thought it might be fun to wear it around the city, but I also don’t want to look like a tourist pretending to be a local even though i'm sure tourists can be spotted from a mile away.

Also slightly worried I’ll accidentally walk into the wrong area and get held up in an alley by someone asking me to name the 2009 midfield or something.

Grazie!

Affitto studenti opinioni

Salve,

Napoli is the best Italian city imo

Ciao,

Just got back from a trip across central and southern Italy and I must conclude Naples is easily my favorite Italian city.

Food: Obviously Italian food is great but Naples brings it to another level that other cities I believe can't replicate. You can literally order a margarita pizza and because the tomatoes have so much flavor it'll literally be the best pizza of your life...

People: very different to northern Italians. Northern Italians I find very polite but distant just like my fellow British people. Southern Italians way way more open and friendly. Very loud. But very friendly.

Crime: yes Naples feels dangerous in some spots but I didn't have a bad experience. Just have to be slightly switched on. But way safer than other cities I've been like Bogota, Lima ect.

I filmed it for YouTube if anyone is interesting. I hope I got most of it right haha! If anyone is interested here you go..

Walking at night with bags

Hi, just looking for some advice/ help with planning. My partner and I are staying in Naples for 1 night before we head to Ischia, we will be arriving from the airport to central station at around 9pm or a bit later. I have been trying to do research but its such a mixed bag, we are staying about a 15 minute walk from the station and in Centro Storico. Will we be okay walking from the central station to this area at night with our bags? I have seen so many posts that are making me very worried and am looking for some advice as to whether I should be booking a taxi to drop us outside the door, although I can't really afford the extra expense.

Basically I am very much winding myself up and I don't know what to do. Any help much appreciated. Thank you!

Hey, I would appreciate to hear some opinions on Spiaggia di Miseno if anyone can help me please!

I am planning a vaction to Napoli in the summer with my girlfriend and I found a place that is affordable and meets my criteria (close to airport among several others). The place is close to Spiaggia di Miseno and I wanted to hear what your thoughts are on this beach. We will be going in the middle of August and we both would love a sandy beach with nice clean water. What are your thoughts, if you can help me please!
