Io3 vs io4?

Hello guys!

I have gum recession and my dentist suggested I should take the oral B io3.

The io4 has an extra mode called "super sensitive" and I was wondering if it would be an improvement for my sensitive gums?

Does anyone here have experience on these two models? Is there a meaningful difference in this extra mode?

Fake brush heads or redesign?

Left - purchased from eBay

Right - original brush head that came with my toothbrush

Overall the design looks the same but the bristles are different and don't seem to be as good quality.

Did Oral B redesign these brush heads or are they fake?

Replacement brushheads

OralB makes a variety of brush heads and absolutely NO way to know which one you need. There's no model number written on the brush, and the brush head don't even specify which ones will fit. The result--guaranteed NO Fit.

Just how much could a company hate their customers than to sell replacement toothbrushes that don't fit?

I cannot seem to get the right brush head. Before I ordered, I looked all over the unit for a Model number. WITH a magnifying glass and a bright note, written in tiny off white on a white background, I read: Made in USA, Type 3710, CE, icons for don't toss/recyclable, NIMH, and an 11 digit serial number.

I went to Amazon. I found ORALB replacement brushes. I've purchased twice--once off brand and one ORALB brand. Neither fits.

So I go to the ORALB site. I THINK it must be the IO3 as that is the only model that is all white. When I go to the replacement brush site, there are nine models. The difference is the quantity and features. None specify which unit.

I do understand that different models may have different brush heads. But there's no way to know which ones. They don't specify on their website, or on Amazon.

Of course no one is available via chat or phone. And no email or form.

I know I'm not the only person trying to find a brush head that fits, so it means that whenever someone has contacted them, they've ignored merely posting something about the right fit.

Are these Oral B head replacements fake?

Something about the packaging looks and feels off to me. This is my first time buying these, so I’m not really sure what signs to look for.

I bought them through Worten Marketplace for around €50. I remember seeing that the seller was based in Romania, but the tracking information shows the package actually shipped from China. Has anyone else had a similar experience, or does anything about this look suspicious?

iO5 Start Problem

Hey, everyone! I've had this problem with my iO5 toothbrush for a week now. The start button only works once I have put the toothbrush on the charging unit. It doesn't have to stay plugged in. Has anyone else encountered the same problem?

Troubleshooting PHILIPS Sonicare Diamond Clean: Pressure sensor not working after minor liquid damage

Hello everyone,

I’m working on a PHILIPS Sonicare Diamond Clean electric toothbrush that stopped turning on after minor liquid exposure to the PCB.

Initial repair: I cleaned the board, found a blown fuse, and replaced it. The toothbrush now powers on and runs, but a new issue appeared: the pressure sensor is not working.

Troubleshooting steps I've already taken:

  1. Installed a known-good pressure sensor assembly (sensor + flex cable).
  2. Replaced the entire vibration motor assembly.
  3. Replaced the OM9663 IC.
  4. Checked for shorted capacitors (none found).
  5. Verified all resistors in the surrounding circuit (all are intact and measure correctly).

The exact symptoms: Visually, the PCB looks completely pristine and undamaged now. However, the pressure sensor remains unresponsive under normal operation. Interestingly, if I manually place the pressure sensor very close to the magnet, it triggers constantly as if heavy pressure is being applied to the shaft (the LED flashes and the vibration mode changes). In any other normal position, the sensor does not react at all.

Has anyone encountered this specific behavior? Could this be an issue with a degraded magnet, a micro-fracture in a trace, or something deeper like an MCU fault?

Any suggestions or schematic hints would be greatly appreciated!

Which toothbrush

Hi guys

I currently have io9 and this is the third one in three years, I tried i07, io8. I find that the toothbrush heads don't really last for "three months", they fade pretty quickly (is it the toothpaste I am using? which is basically a normal Oral B daily clean toothpaste!). Overtime I find that their cleaning isn't as good as it was when I first started. I also end up just using 'daily clean' and 'intense clean' when after a few months the toothbrush doesn't feel like it is is cleaning as well.

In the past I had the usual cheap 30 pound oral Bs until i moved to these fancy gadgets. In the beginning I also tried sonicare for 5-8 years then moved to Oral B again. Anyway I don't care for apps or blue tooth (never connected my phone to those). I just want something that cleans well. AI seems to suggest Pro 3 but it is impossible to find it. There are pro vitality, pro 2 but no pro 3. Then there is io3. Which is the best for normal daily clean without the connectiviity. I only want something that tells me the timer or indicates how long I have been brushing with a noise so I know it's two minutes and something that does daily clean and maybe a couple of more like sensitive or gum cleaning etc . thank you.

Anyone here owns the io series 10 toothbrush? Was it worth it?

I’m looking to buy my first electric toothbrush. I’m leaning toward Oral-B because it has a better reputation, but I’m concerned about some reviews saying that mold can grow inside the toothbrush and that the battery doesn’t last that long. I’d like to hear from people who have been using one for years. Has it been worth it or would you recommend going with a cheaper option instead? I found the Oral-B iO Series 10 for €200.

Oral-B iO8 Warranty Issue – Am I Being Unreasonable Here

I purchased an Oral-B iO8 electric toothbrush in Australia on 15 November 2024. The toothbrush comes with a 24-month warranty, so it is still well within the warranty period. I have the original receipt, proof of purchase, product documentation, and the production code.

Recently, the toothbrush developed two issues:

  • The display screen stopped working completely.
  • The battery now lasts only around 1 to 1.5 days after a full charge.

I contacted Oral-B Consumer Care and provided all requested information, including photos and the production code. They asked me to try various troubleshooting steps, including full charging, checking charger placement, and performing a reset. Unfortunately, none of these resolved the issues.

Oral-B then referred me to their authorized Australian service center. I contacted the service center and was instructed to send the toothbrush for assessment. However, when I explained that I currently live in Sri Lanka, they informed me that they only service customers within Australia and could not accept an overseas submission.

The problem is that Oral-B has also informed me that there is currently no Oral-B service center available in Sri Lanka.

So at the moment, I seem to be stuck in a situation where:

  • The product is still under warranty.
  • I have proof of purchase.
  • Oral-B Sri Lanka support is unavailable.
  • The Australian service center will not accept products from outside Australia.

I have followed every instruction provided to me and contacted every party I was directed to contact, but I still have no practical way to obtain warranty service.

Has anyone experienced a similar situation with Oral-B or another international warranty claim? Is there a department or escalation path that I should be contacting?

I’m not looking for anything beyond the warranty support that came with the product. I’m simply trying to understand how a customer is supposed to access that warranty when living outside the country of purchase.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Do many people and dentists use an electric oscillating toothbrush on teeth that have bonding and find it safe to do so not damaging the bonding?

Loook forward to people’s experiences

oral b triumph v1

Does anyone know if, on the Oral-B Triumph V1 with the LCD battery display, the screen stays on all the time or should it turn off after a while of inactivity?

Mine never goes off. Honestly, I don’t remember how it behaved before, because I decided to replace the battery in this toothbrush. Thanks for any help.

Oral-B iO9 stuck in bootloop after accidental battery reverse polarity (but board has 4.2V) – Need Help!

Hey everyone,
I’m currently facing a really weird bootloop issue with my Oral-B iO Series 9 after doing a battery replacement, and I could really use some expert advice.
The Backstory:
During the replacement process, I accidentally inserted the 14500 battery the wrong way around (reverse polarity) for a brief moment. After realizing the mistake, I took it out and inserted it correctly. I've tried multiple different batteries (the old Vapcell H10, a fresh Keeppower 1000mAh, and two original Sanyo 800mAh cells) – all of them are fully charged.
The Current Symptoms & What I’ve Diagnosed So Far:

  • Voltage is fine: I used a multimeter to check the board directly at the B+ and B- solder points. It reads a solid 4.2V. The physical spring contacts are definitely hitting the battery.
  • Thermal Camera check: I checked the naked board with a thermal camera. No components are getting hot, nothing is smoking, and there is no burnt smell.
  • The Bootloop: * If I put the toothbrush on the standard inductive magnetic charger, it does absolutely nothing (completely dead/black screen). • If I put it into the Power2Go wired travel charging case, it suddenly comes to life! It boots up, shows the "iO" logo, then shows the battery bar screen with 79%, and then immediately restarts. It has been stuck in this endless reboot loop for over 2 hours now.

What I've already tried to fix it:

  1. Capacitor Reset: Took the battery out, held the power button for 30+ seconds, and left the board completely unpowered for 15+ minutes to clear the volatile memory. No change.
  2. App Connection: Tried to spam the Oral-B app via Bluetooth the exact second the screen flashes on in the travel case, but the boot window is too short to establish a stable handshake.

It seems like the hardware survived the reverse polarity (since the screen and CPU work), but the BMS (Battery Management System) or the MCU firmware seems completely bricked/corrupted regarding the voltage validation.
Has anyone ever successfully bypassed this specific bootloop or forced a hard factory reset on the iO9 board when it's stuck like this? Is there a specific SMD diode or trace that usually blows open during reverse polarity that causes this 79% validation error?
Thanks in advance for any tips!

Has my IO brush kicked the can?

The buzz did not used to be this obnoxious. I almost want to stop using it. Does anyone know if this can be fixed or is it time?
