December in the Alps

Hi there, family of 3 (I don't ski) my daughter (visually impaired) and my husband (the guide) they are very solid skiers and we are thinking of spending December somewhere in the Alps. So we're looking for recommendations for:

  1. enough snow in December.

  2. Apartment lodging.

We're open to be anywhere France, Austria, Italy...

Where would you go in Austria in early to mid-March?

Hello,

As the title says, where would you go in Austria in early to mid-March? Other specs:

-20+ of advanced skiers

-We would probably fly to Munich

-Cheap beer would be bonus

-Some place that has snow

-Ski in ski out would be nice but not mandatory

Would Mayrhofen/Zillertal be an option or is the snow situation bad in March? What other places would you recommend?

Thanks.

January alps location advicd

Hi everyone,

Trying to pick out a location in the Austrian or French Alps for January 2027.

  • 3 skiiers - ranging from beginner to advanced
  • Will be staying at the town for 1 week
  • Would like a ski town that is an actual town so the beginner can do things such as a sauna or thermal spa since he won't ski each day
  • Currently thinking courchevel 1550 or somewhere in Austria around Zell Am See/Saalbach.

Would prefer to ski in val thorens/la plagne, however my other ski buddies on the trip are worried that there won't be much to do outside of skiing at the French purpose built resorts.

Flaine (FR), May the 17th

Chasing the recent powder drop in Flaine! We’re definitely sharing the mountain with a lot of people, everyone wants a piece of it.
Summer is just around the corner, marking what’s probably my last skinning session of the season.
The video : https://youtu.be/SQXEE1JoSN0

Sadly, this mountain range saw two fatalities over the weekend as well, after two ski tourers in their 70s suffered fatal heart attacks.

Where to go next

Hello all,

I need some suggestions

I generally drive to the Alps from the UK (Hertfordshire) via the tunnel.

I have generally skied big ski areas, favourites include Three Valleys, Paradiski, Espace Killy, Portes De Soleil but have also skied Alpe d’Huez and Les Deux Alpes plus St Anton.

Prefer to stay in Self catered apartments to keep the cost down.

Oh and I always ski at Easter and 2027 it falls earlier, end of March.

2027 I would like to go somewhere new, a resort with variety of slopes and still a decent amount lf runs and somewhere I can drive to.

Anyone have any ideas?

Ski accommodation recommendations in Austria

We’re planning a ski trip for next year, and rn looking at Schladming or Solden. Either way we want an apartment on slope. And we are having a hard time finding a lot. We would go in a 6 person group where all of us a great skier.

From anyone who’s been there or knows a great place, we would welcome any idea. Best if the price is not too steep, but anything value for money is perfect.

When candid people said "what a bad weather", skiers are preparing the W.E.

In other words, I think I know where I will be Saturday or Sunday : My skins are ready !!!

Obergurgl-Hochgurgl December skiing

I’m looking to go skiing in Obergurgl the first week of December. Has anyone been at this time before and is the snow reliable / resort fully open there that time of year?

Biggest Resorts with single rider accomodation

Hello everyone,

I’m traveling to the Alps next January and I’m looking for bigger resorts with hostels or shared accommodations for just me.

I don’t want to spend too much, and I don’t care for luxury, I only want to stay in lively towns with good social aspect.

For example, in Les 3 Vallees I could only find one hostel in Orelle and another in Brides Les Baines, which doesn’t seem to be lively towns.

My idea is to move between at least two or three resorts cross country (France, Austria, Italy mainly), so any advice would be appreciated.

I am an intermediate snowboarded that can make most runs.

I’m aware of UCPA and it may be an option in France.

Thanks everyone!
