Such a throwback for me and what a fun anniversary pop-up double album! These guys are one of the greats in Hip-hop with their very own unique, funky style. Some of the best artists to come out of Oakland, California. Doowuthchyalike.
Two killers tracks from D Diggler & Skudge. Enjoy the vibe…
Spent the afternoon setting this up and it seems to work well through OBS. I have a 20 year old MS Lifecam looking down at the mixer while the Insta 360 Link 2 does a wider shot. It all routes through a Soundcraft Notepad 8FX with a USB out. I did a mix but I forgot to press record :|
Love the obscure records I still find digging through my collection. Enjoy the vibes.
These records are from circa 2009 off SushiTech Records it’s a various artists EP titled “Tessera”. Hope you enjoy the music.
Hello vinyl DJ's
I created a 'vinyl porn' tool to help me organise my collection and prepare for gigs. I store all the information I need on it and I use it to print labels with the information for mixing (like BPM, mood, genre etc.)
I thought some of you here might find it interesting.
Also would be curious to know:
Would be glad to hear how other DJs handle this!
Happy spinning.
Upright? Flat? House of cards? Any input.
Designing a storage shelf/rack. Thanks
Hi gangstas. It’s my first time flying somewhere to play a gig and it’s 2 crates of wax I need (want) to bring with me. Any tips or experiences?
A crate of wax would be too heavy to be allowed as carry on baggage, but goodness gracious I couldn’t imagine my precious cargo catching air time when the baggage handlers are loading luggage from the 3 point line.
At the moment I’m looking at a pair of metal boxes designed for records. I’m told the UDG stuff is good; I’ve seen one of their bags in person and it was nice but not necessarily as robust as what I think I probably need. Advice appreciated 🙏🙏
I don't get how a knob is better than a fader, and why it's preferred specifically for vinyl
Was super excited when I got this booking as the Krackfree soundsystem is one of those sound systems that made me rethink life :) figured it would be dope to bring a bag of house with dub influences to showcase the width & depth of the genre to an audience that might expect something completely different from this stage / DJs playing on the system that night.
Ron Trent, Bobby Konders, Alton Miller, Trinidadian deep, Rob Manga’s new ep (check it - it’s killer), Joe Claussell, Manoo, dj Said, Jephte Guillaume, Cee el Assad etc
I am a musician suoer inspired to start scratching. At home first and then live with bands and jam sessions. Any recommendations on begginer gear? Or online resources? Thanks!
Hi - looking for a vinyl DJ in Detroit to spin at our wedding. Like everyone else, we don't want Mr Brightside or Journey so looking for a really talented DJ who can cover an eclectic range (hip hop, house, new wave, funk). Would love some recs or even ideas of great DJs in the area who might not necessarily be "wedding DJs" but play a lot in and might be down at the right price. I was snooping Resident Advisor and thought maybe there could be some good options.
For reference, here is a playlist that we quickly put together of reference tracks.
Thanks!
Hey y'all so I have an idea for my wedding that I wanted to get a temp check on. I am getting a vinyl DJ to spin at the reception and I had an idea of something that I think could be a really creative, fun and collaborative concept but want to see what you think.
Basically, the idea is that for a small manageable group of our friends who are invited to the wedding (just the cool ones with good taste), we would ask them to pick one vinyl of their choosing to bring to the wedding as a gift to create a "collaborative set" so to speak. Before you scoff, hear me out. The way it would work (in addition to paying the DJ very well lol) is that I request that each of the friends select and have their record picked out let's say a month in advance and they submit their selection on a google survey with the the specific song that they want listed. Then we submit that to the DJ who can scope out the selections and start conceptualizing the set. Then at the welcome reception / rehearsal dinner on the Friday of wedding weekend, the friends bring their record to drop of and we transfer it over to the DJ, who can then compile them.
My question - is there any DJ out there would think that it is a cool concept? Or too silly? I don't think that there would be more than 20 selections maximum, so we're not talking about a set that is only these but I think would be really fun to have a fire DJ do this and for ppl on the dance floor to hear how their song gets worked into the mix. Lmk thxxxx
