When you’re in the midst of it, you don’t always see the difference as you’re losing weight. But when you do notice it, it really does snack you on the face. The difference between 2024 and 2026 caught me by surprise cause my brain still sees me more as I was in 2026. I’m 8 stone (112lbs/51kg) down and feel better than I have in years.
(Sorry I know the pics aren’t perfect but I don’t take many full body shots cause I always hated looking at my full body)
How is everyone doing this weekend? How's the weight loss coming along?
Today's suppression/satiety feels quite high, just had a smoothie which really filled me up 😂 (Aldi's Green Smoothie Mix, 10/10 would recommend)
Some fun for a Friday, anyone got any non scale positives of Wegovy.
I'll go first, the inside of my car is as clean as it was the day I bought it. No more secretly eating packets of biscuits, cookies and crips on the way home from work.
Today is my last day of the 1.5mg pills, so I thought I'd do a final update for those who are curious.
Side effects: Apart from burping a bit in the first week, I have had no side effects.
Bowel movements: Prior to starting the pills, I was suffering from chronic diarrhoea. The pills have stopped that, and I am able to have normal movements once a day, which is unheard of for me. I started taking psyllium husk supplements about 10 days ago, and this has also helped.
Weight loss: I have lost 5.5 lbs, which is fine. Most of that was in the first week and then it stalled. I haven't been logging as I can't do that (I logged for 6 years straight and it took over my life and I became obsessive and scared of certain foods). If I'm being honest, I wasn't being particularly disciplined up until about 3 days ago. I have now decided to put the effort in if I want to make the money spent on these tablets worth it, so I am being strict on my IF schedule and making sure I only have 2 meals a day plus one small snack if I really need it. This works well for me and doesn't trigger my brain like calorie counting does. The scale is starting to move downwards now too.
Hunger signals: In the first 2.5 weeks I was not really hungry or thinking about food much. This has gradually tapered off and I find myself hungrier in the latter cycle of the 1.5mg pills. Not ravenous, but definitely hungry. And I can eat a bit more than I could at the beginning. So, to me that suggests moving up to 4mg is a natural next step. In terms of the food I eat, it is largely homemade and unintentionally with minimal UPFs, apart from the occasional protein bar which I genuinely enjoy. My partner and I do also eat out a lot and I cant see this ever changing as its our time together, but I have been eating way less and boxing up my leftovers to eat the next day. So, I eat nutritionally well, just typically eat too much which is why I started these pills in the first place!
Exercise: I have completed 19 strength training sessions in the past 4 weeks, as maintaining muscle is important to me. Again, these have been a bit undisciplined as I was struggling with fatigue. It is also taking me much much longer to recover - I am getting DOMs from what would usually be a warm up workout for me and my muscles are sore for days, despite eating enough protein and not training the same muscle groups back to back. However, I have decided to start taking this seriously and return to basics - a 5x5 stronglifts routine, which is where I started my weightlifting journey many moons ago. So, focusing on compound lifts (at a frustratingly lighter weight) and I will add in accessory work when I feel like I can manage it with my current energy levels. I do a minimum of 3 miles walking a day ( I have done this for years anyway) and have bought a fitbit air to give me a better sense of overall activity.
Aesthetics: I haven't been able to locate my tailors tape measure to measure my waist and hips etc but I can see my old shape starting to peer through. There is still way too much fat on my frame but I am pleased something is happening. I will take a progress picture once a month so I can compare, as its so easy to miss things when you see your body every day.
Hope that is helpful to anyone considering the pills, or to anyone who is simply curious 😊
I've been on 4mg a week now but am struggling with hunger. I didn't have this on 1.5mg but I also wasn't going to the gym as much, so not sure if it's natural hunger increase due to exercise or just the 4mg isn't working for me and maybe 1.5mg was more placebo than actual changes in my hunger.
Anyway, just wondering how others are finding it.
I started on wegovy in April as rybelsus- off licence for weightless.
My aim is to lose the 8kg I put on last year due to menopause.
I started on the old 3mg, 7mg ( equivalent to 1.5 and 4) and 3 months on 9mg ( new dose).
I have lost 4kg only, but the last month nothing- I've plateaued.
I know there is now 25mg ( not available as Ryb) but I've only a small appetite, so I feel that the wegovy is doing what it needs to, and think less appetite would be unhealthy.
Do we think this is the limit of what I can achieve
The UK weight-loss pill market has just become more interesting.
Foundayo was approved yesterday so now the Wegovy pill finally has some competition and hopefully Novo will reduce their prices, heres the thing, the two medicines are quite different. Firstly, Foundayo is not Mounjaro in tablet form. Although both are made by Eli Lilly, Mounjaro targets GLP-1 and GIP, while Foundayo targets GLP-1 alone. Based on their separate clinical trials, Wegovy pill currently appears to have a modest advantage for average weight loss:
Wegovy pill: 13.6% over 64 weeks
Foundayo: 11.1% over 72 weeks
I wonder if the quicker to average weight loss is due to the shorter schedule?
Foundayo among people who remained on treatment: 12.4% However, they have not been tested directly against one another. These figures give us a useful idea, but they do not prove that one will work better for an individual person.
Foundayo’s biggest advantage is how easily it should fit into everyday life, the Wegovy pill must be taken on an empty stomach with no more than 120ml of water. You then need to wait at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking or taking other tablets.
That may sound simple, but it can become inconvenient surprisingly quickly. Morning coffee has to wait. Breakfast has to wait. Other medication may have to wait. Miss the routine and you may end up reorganising the start of your day around one tablet. Foundayo can be taken at any time, with or without food and without limiting how much water you drink. For anyone juggling work, children, early starts, shift patterns or several other medicines, that freedom could be genuinely useful.
The less appealing part is the six-stage dosing schedule:
0.8mg → 2.5mg → 5.5mg → 9mg → 14.5mg → 17.2mg
There must be at least one month between increases, so someone starting at 0.8mg would need a minimum of around five months to reach 17.2mg.
You do not automatically need to reach the highest dose. If a lower strength is working well and remains tolerable, there may be no benefit in rushing upwards. Even so, potentially working through six different strengths looks rather drawn out, especially as prices vary between them.
The side effects will sound familiar to anyone who has used a GLP: nausea, constipation, diarrhoea, vomiting, indigestion and abdominal pain. Tablets must also be swallowed whole rather than split or chewed etc.
My early verdict is fairly simple:
Wegovy pill has the stronger trial result. Foundayo has the easier routine.
That convenience should not be treated as a minor detail. A medicine can look excellent in a clinical trial, but it still has to work around someone’s actual life. For some people, the freedom to take Foundayo whenever it suits them may matter more than a relatively small difference in average trial results. It's now authorised in the UK, but it is not yet available. We still need UK prices to be published.
Which would matter more to you: Wegovy pill’s stronger trial result, or Foundayo’s much simpler daily routine?
Just seeking opinions or advice. Male 6' 2" and starting weight is exactly 19 stone.
Day 23 of 1.5mg tabs. At last weigh in 3 days ago I had lost 7lbs.
I had been feeling hungier last few days so I'm going to take 3mg for 3 days and then my 4mg tablets are good to go at end of week.
Mild side effects, some nausea at times and moving between constipation and diarrohea.
I've not particulary changed what I'm eating but eating smaller portions and hardly any chocolate which I was obsessed with daily before.
Does all this sound fairly typical?
Another week completed. So far I'm down an average of 6.1lbs over the two weeks. Delighted with the progress so far. Usually by this stage in a diet I've lost about half a pound (if anything) because I couldn't stick to my calories and would think "well, what's the point". Now, I'm more motivated than ever!
I've had mainly positives and very few negatives over the past few weeks.
Some of the positives:
Some of the negatives:
In case anyone is reading this and thinking of starting the pills, I find it helps to see some positive experiences as there is a lot of negativity on social media etc. This has been my experience so far and hope it continues!
Week 3 weigh in, and another 3lbs off. So that’s 8.5lbs off since I switched to the pills and started intermittent fasting
How’s everyone else getting on with the pills
How time has flown! One packet of 1.5mg down and before you know it, it's time to start on 4mg.
I posted 1 week into 1.5mg, perhaps a bit too optimistically. Minimal side effects, a little itchy skin in the night the first week or so (like needing to swat a fly off you!), a couple of headaches in the last week, and seemingly a heightened sensitivity to sun. No deal breakers so far.
From the lens that 1.5mg is literally the tiniest dose ever compared to the full therapeutic dose of 25mg, there has been some impact on food noise but in retrospect it's very minimal. I think you can often overanalyse things to purposely find positives, because you're reading into every little thing.
For me, I know that to maintain a moderate calorie deficit and lose weight at a sensible rate, I need to eat around 1650kcals a day, get my steps in (normally around 12k), and workout a few times a week. I have around 10kg to lose (going 80 to 70ish). This works, because I've done it before without too much misery but a LOT of mental effort which I am now depleted of. For the large part, the 1.5mg made sticking to this a bit easier and definitely helped. Still a lot of discipline involved, still getting hungry at meal times (although never hangry). On a normal day, I'm eating probably around 1700kcals without too much struggle. By contrast, I've still had some days where I've found solace in limitless comfort eating, and I've had no problem eating a lot of food. Likewise, when I was on holiday, not tracking food, it was easy for me to go overboard, with no impact on fulness. Whilst I haven't weighed myself this first month, I know for a fact I have not lost weight. I'm fine with that, I haven't given it my all or been consistent.
I also found the effects to be variable. When I'm tired, it feels like I've not taken the pill at all. Whereas other days, it's effects feel a bit more noticeable. It definitely helped balanced out the luteal phase cravings, even by a little bit, for which I'm grateful.
I've been taking it with a big mouthful of water, chased down with another mouthful, then waiting a minimum 1.5hours to eat and drink. Based on my limited research, this appears to be the most effective way of taking it.
I was super nervous taking the first pill. It's the uncertainty! I don't take any medication at all normally, it's all very new to me. Over the course of the month it became very normal though as you get used to it. However I got that uncertainty again this morning taking my first 4mg. Several hours later I feel exactly the same as I did yesterday, there was nothing to be scared of (yet!). Fingers crossed the minimal side effects continue and that I do feel some enhanced feelings of fulness this month.
Anyway, there's my wrap of month one on 1.5mg. I hope you are all getting on ok in your journeys (I hate that term but I don't know how else to describe it) and I'm keen to know how others have got on 1.5mg and how you find the step up to 4mg if you're going for it.
