My wife painted this over several weeks-a commission for a family in London, who asked for Hanuman ji in a quiet, devotional moment rather than the usual battle pose.

The gold work is applied by hand last, after all the acrylic layers are done. The eyes went in at the very end.

Sharing a commissioned piece, and one that travelled all the way to the US from Narangi Art Studio in Hyderabad. There is something about painting a city for someone who misses it. You are not just painting the streets and the light; you are trying to hold on to a feeling someone still calls home.

My friend made this, since she is not on Reddit, I thought of posting for her.
It’s a king and queen as the last two pieces left on the board. She called it “Checkmate.” It’s big — 5ft by 3.5ft, all acrylic, all by hand. I have seen it in person and the photos really don’t do the size justice!!
She mostly does acrylic — some spiritual stuff, some abstract, a lot of commissions. Ask me anything about how she made it, I’ll do my best to answer or check with her.
