Hey everyone,

I’m brand new to the freight industry and currently going through training as a freight agent with Landstar.

I’m based in the EU, and honestly, Landstar is currently my only realistic opportunity to get my foot in the door of the US freight agent industry. That’s a big reason why I’m taking this seriously and trying to learn the business properly instead of just blindly following a script.

I’m NOT looking for brokers, carriers, loads, or clients here. I’m just looking for honest advice from people who have actually been doing this.

The workflow I’m currently being trained on is:

1. Find a load on DAT
I look through available loads and find something that fits.

2. Post the load internally on TMS
I post it and wait for an available Landstar BCO/driver to show interest.

3. BCO responds
Once I have a driver interested and the equipment/location fit the load, I have actual capacity for it.

4. Call the broker
I call the broker, confirm the load is still available, identify myself as being with Landstar, and see if they are willing to work with us.

5. Negotiate the rate
If they are open to Landstar, I negotiate the rate and confirm the load details.

6. Book and execute
Then I handle the pickup/delivery information, rate confirmation, BCO information, etc. through our TMS/company process.

The biggest thing I’m struggling with right now is the broker side.

I’m hearing “No Landstar” pretty frequently. I understand that some brokers have legitimate reasons for not wanting to work with Landstar, but I’m trying to figure out how experienced agents handle that without wasting everyone's time or sounding like a scripted salesperson.

For example, if a broker says:

>“We don't work with Landstar.”

Would you simply thank them and move on, or briefly ask whether that's company policy or because of a previous experience?

I’m also expected to make a high volume of calls and TMS posts during training.

So for experienced agents:

How would you approach the first 30–60 days?

Would you focus mostly on volume and learning the process, or start trying to build actual broker relationships from day one?

And when you were new, what was the biggest mistake you made that you wish someone had warned you about?

I’m based in Europe, so I’m obviously coming into this with a different background than most people in US freight. Landstar is my current way into this industry, and I genuinely want to make the most of the opportunity.

I’d appreciate any honest advice from experienced agents, brokers, or anyone who has been on either side of these calls.

I've seen this video about this guy playing FIFA 14 UT in 2026, he said something about some guy re-making the servers, but I didnt understand if in the near future will it be accessible to other people, if yes, would it be possible to play against someone or such.

Trenutno sam na moru sa djevojkom, i samo slusam o tome kako je lijepo na moru kako bi trebali prodati kucu i zivjeti na moru kako je more lijek za sve itd itd...

Poceo sam sa prijateljima zadnje vrijeme igrati termine na umjetnoj travi, pa trazim neke patike koje su okej, a da nisu preskupe, ipak ne znam koliko ce ovo trajati dok se ekipa ne raspadne.

Budzet mi je 100KM, ne bih stvarno preko

Znaci ne mogu da vjerujem da i dan danas na olxu nema opcije da izaberem vise lokacija odjednom, znaci evo dajem primjer.

Gledam vec neko vrijeme da promijenim auto, gledam nekog benzinca, 2.0 ili vise kubika, i da je zabavan za voziti, nemam nesto tacno na pameti ali eto ako sta izleti da mi se svidja ne bih bjezao od toga.

Zato sam napravio pretragu:

Gorivo: benzin

Kubikaza: 2.0 ili vise

Cijena do: 15.000KM

Lokacija: Kanton Sarajevo

I stavio sam da kad god izadje neki novi oglas, da mi dodje notifikacija, medjutim, ne postoji opcija da se stavi vise lokaciju u jednu pretragu, i to je tako iritantno, zato sto onda moram praviti 5 istih pretraga, ali sa drugim lokacijama, i onda ne mogu na istoj stranici da imam sve aute, nego moram stalno mijenjati pretrage, a znamo svi koliko je PIK brz u ucitavanju.

Znam da vecina sto cu ovdje navest je obicni ragebait, i glupoca ljudi, ali zasto je sve tako postalo normalizovano ponizavati druge, i kad kazes nesto oko toga, to je ljubomora?

Kao tipa lik snimi tiktok kako baca pare kroz prozor po ulici, ja napisem da je to papanluk, odmah 10 likova ispod:

To mi toliko "grinda gears" ili ti ga bas me nervira, bas me ono ultra pro max iznervira, jel realno da smo toliki idioti kao narod

I don’t know what’s wrong with me honestly, but I realized I hate doing things alone.

Like, singleplayer games are insanely boring to me. Even when I actually WANT to play something, if there’s no friends involved I lose interest fast. Right now I wanna play FIFA, but FIFA 26 crashes on my PC so I can only play FIFA 23 offline career mode, and it feels depressing playing against bots alone lol.

And it’s not just games. Even with my girlfriend, sometimes I feel bad because just going somewhere with only the two of us starts feeling “empty” after some time and I keep wishing more friends were there too. She gets annoyed because I complain that I miss my friends too much.

I feel like I always need people around me to enjoy life properly. If I’m alone, everything feels monotone and boring. I genuinely don’t know if this is some validation issue, fear of being alone, or if my brain is just addicted to constant social stimulation.

Did anyone else have this problem?

Sometimes that’s normal, I guess, but for me it became extreme. Singleplayer games bore me after a few minutes. I can’t even fully enjoy going somewhere for a few days alone with my girlfriend because I keep wishing there were more friends around us. Everything feels monotone and empty unless there are a lot of people involved.

I constantly feel the need to have people around me, almost like I need social energy all the time to enjoy life.

A stupid example: right now I want to play FIFA, but FIFA 26 keeps crashing on my PC, so I’m forced to play FIFA 23. The servers are shut down, meaning I can only play offline career mode against AI. And I genuinely can’t force myself to enjoy it because it feels pointless and boring when it’s solo/offline.

This problem affects other parts of my life too. My girlfriend even gets upset sometimes because she feels like I’m bored when it’s just the two of us hanging out, and honestly… sometimes I do keep complaining that I miss having friends around.

I don’t know if this is some kind of attention issue, fear of being alone, competition complex, validation problem, or something else entirely. I just know that almost everything in life feels boring or exhausting when I’m by myself.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Zanima me koji su najjeftiniji autodijelovi u Sarajevu, jedino sam bio u Motorexu i kad su mi rekli 300KM za mali servis sa popustom oci su mi ispale, pa me zanima gdje vi uzimate.

I’ve been working independently as an electrician for around 6 months now, based in the Balkans (Bosnia and Herzegovina).

I do:

- electrical panels,

- troubleshooting/fault finding,

- CCTV/security cameras,

- installations,

- and general electrical work.

I also made an Instagram page where I regularly post my work, before/after photos, finished jobs, etc. I’ve spent a decent amount of money on social media ads trying to get clients and build a name for myself.

The problem is that work has been really slow. On average maybe 3–4 jobs a month, mostly very small repairs and minor callouts.

Recently I started pushing harder with ads, posting more often, replying quickly to people, and I actually got a lot of messages and conversations — probably 40+ in a couple of days — but almost none of them turned into real jobs.

It feels like:

- people only ask for prices,

- everybody wants the cheapest possible work,

- or they expect electricians to work for almost nothing.

What confuses me is that everyone keeps saying “there’s a huge shortage of electricians”, but from my experience it feels extremely difficult to actually build stable work when starting out.

I’m not trying to complain — I genuinely want to hear from people who went through this stage.

How long did it take before referrals and repeat customers started coming in?

What actually helped you build momentum?

Did social media help you at all?

And how did you survive the beginning financially and mentally?

Would appreciate honest experiences from other electricians/self-employed tradespeople.
