Creating online version

Hello. I'm interested in creating a free online version of my shedding card game.

Does anyone have any recommendations of the best way of doing this?

I feel like I need to go with a coding option as I'll need to account for some of the more complex elements of the game, such as act as anything Jokers and Multiples, where players can play two or more cards of the same value at the same time.

Thought the community might be able to provide some guidance on first steps. I am a coding novice but open to learning from scratch.

Looking for the best, lowest cost option.

Game play on cards

Hello. My game is based around two tracks running between two Jacks. Play moves along one of these tracks until it reaches a Jack.

At this point a player must choose to send play back down the track they came from or the other one. Both tracks, of course, lead to the other Jack.

Play bounces To Jack and Back until one player has discarded all their cards.

How best to summarise the game play than to embed it into the design of each card?

The tracks are on all cards. And each card's value is plonked in the middle and also bolded.

What do you think about that?

Fence sitting

When designing my card game, To Jack & Back, I canvassed opinions on whether to incorporate the traditional suits into my cards or not.

Essentially, I wanted to know if would-be players would appreciate being able to use my bespoke cards as a standard deck or if I should lean further into making my cards truly one of a kind.

Where I ended up was basically smack bang on the fence. So we have the suits but we don't use that as a major selling point.

What should we do for the next print run? Make the suits more prominent or remove them entirely?

[TOMT] name that anime

Hello. So i was minding my own business on Instagram when a short clip of an anime film / series grabbed my attention. Didn't catch the name and can't find it through Google searches of what I saw. Try to make sense of this!

So there's a male character who seems to be carrying dead people on his back walking across a battlefield seemingly scooping up fallen soldiers and trying to amalgamate them into his body.

Then a Raiden-looking guy and a female character wearing some futuristic glasses appear. They look to get into some beef with the male character but his grandma appears. She has white round glasses and a staff with glowing runes.

Granny teleports herself and Raiden and the girl to a graveyard. Granny is at the top of some stairs and fights the girl. Raiden warns the girl to look after her bones. The girl can manifest obelisks. She is defeated and sucked into the earth by the undead before Granny consumes her soul. She then defeats Raiden fella.

Does this ring a bell to anyone?!

Tyu - how to play

Tyu is a two player reverse tug of war game in which players compete to nudge dominoes towards their opponent, scoring points for pushing them off the game board.

Nudges are linked to the roll of a dice. One nudge for numbers 1 to 5, two nudges for a 6. Additionally, 1s give players another roll and 3s come with a Freeze, allowing the player to prevent their opponent from nudging dominoes in that column for a single turn.

When a column is emptied of all three dominoes, either player that rolls that column now has 2 nudges in other columns (or 2 in the same column) and 6s are now worth 3 nudges. For each additional empty column 6s increase in +1 nudges. So the game gets progressively quicker.

Green dominoes are worth 1 point, Gold are worth 3. First player to nudge 13 points off the board wins.

Emotional regulation materials

My wife is an ELSA and Advanced Drawing & Talking Practitioner at a Primary School in Medway, Kent.

She has used AI to create a series of emotional regulation materials for the children she supports across Early Years and KS1. These feature our pug, Petra, and our cat, Suki.

She's also created educational materials that feature the faces of the children she's giving 1-1 support to. One girl, who instantly recognised herself on the bespoke colourful semantics activity sheet, formed such a connection with the animated character that she was able to produce more complex sentences from the images. For example she went from "girl playing in park" to "Bella played in the park with Jackson in the sun".

Anyway, I think this is amazing but I'm not in Education so looking for any advice on how she can reach other practitioners and share her resources and successes.

Slice the Mice - feedback sought

Here's the latest game we're working on - Slice the Mice, a slice and splice game of cutting and glueing mice portions, where the last mouse standing wins!

Players take turns to roll the dice. The combination of symbols grants them the following powers:

Knives - use the cheese knife to slice a portion off another player's mouse. For each additional knife symbol on your throw, chop off another portion.

Glue - re-splice a portion of your mouse back on. For each additional glue symbol on your throw, re-splice another portion onto your mouse. If your mouse is at full strength, splice a piece of another player's mouse that has been sliced! (Caveat here, when it gets down to just 2 players, glue symbols no longer work. Straight cutting race to the finish line!)

X - no action

Action Card - roll at least two Action Card symbols to turn over an Action Card, then follow the instructions. Action Cards can work in your favour or against you!

What do you think? Is this new? Is it worth pursuing? All comments welcome!

To Jack & Back

Here's a how to play video for my sequential shedding card game To Jack & Back.

video

Created by me and my three young children. First in a growing series of games designed with a primary goal of reengaging our family with boardgames.

My kids are growing up fast and as a result prefer to play roblox and Minecraft and VR more than our boardgame collection.

By creating our own games I've managed to fight back and now we're all creating and playing games together again.
