How can I get the old man eating again?

How can I get the old man eating again?

This guy is 17, mostly inside life, and wasting away. He's down from 16lbs to less than 8½ a month ago at the vet.

He's been to the vet a few times, which is very stressful, but they can't find anything wrong with him. No elevated/problem kidney or liver enzymes. Clean CBC. Blood sugar ok. Thyroid ok. Got sent home with an rx for Omeprazole (Proton pump inhibitor) for upset stomach.

The only symptoms were vomit and weightloss. The pills have stopped the vomiting but now he won't eat anything at all. Not cheese, treats, cat food, dog kibble (he would always try to steal a few), or new cat food (Hills). Still drinking some water.

We're trying high caloric gel food today but he's not liking it. It seems like he's either given up or his gi is shut down.

He's not my cat so I can't make the call on whether it's time or not.

Is there anything else I can do to get him eating again?

Appreciate any tips & ty

Dog 6 GPS keeps cycling on/off/on/off...

Title is the problem.

I've already contacted support, but the very deaf, very beagley beagle is without GPS tracking and very upset with his lack of iff leash time.

Tried power cycling, no firmware to update that I can find, and tried plugging it in then holding power down for 10s.

We don't use the low power modes bc his escapes tend to be at full beagling speed (a mile ever 3 min).

Is there anything else to try here?

GEE THANKS BALL

Thank you ball for ruining 2 batches of jam, and half my harvest of strawberries for a year. The exact same website recipe with sure-jell and it worked fine.

Is it possible to re-do the un-set jam? I mean, to put it back in a pot, add the sugar that's missing from their website recipe, and can it again? I'm going to try regardless, since it's useless as is.

This is absolute madness on Ball's part. Same "Real Fruit Classic Pectin" with wildly different ratios of sugar to fruit, same amount of pectin.

Bottle label - 1.33 : 1.66 (crushed fruit to sugar)

Website - 1.00 : 0.75 (1.33 : 1.00 scaled to match fruit)

How vocal are your born-deaf dogs and how to teach him "quiet"

Wiggle here is a beagle with a double copy of the "extreme piebald" gene according to Embark

He has the 90-100% deafness associated white fur like a double dapple/merle. We suspect he can hear vibrations through his jaw/skull bone.

Which means he LOVES to bay (howl). He has a bay for joy, a bay for excitement, a bay for meeting new friends (especially cat friends), in addition to all the regular beagle bays.

I can't quite figure out how to get him to stop when it's inappropriate. It's always in the moment when he's not looking at me, that he's baying in excitement.

He's well trained and food motivated otherwise. Sitting, staying, recalling on vibration, catching Frisbee was pretty easy - he does monkey see monkey doo with the other beags. TIA

How to remove fixture box for fan bracket?

I'm trying to put up a ceiling fan in my bedroom while the wife is on a trip and this is the 3rd fan I've put up in this house.

I can't get the bracket for the old cheapo fixture out and can't figure out why without cutting back more drywall.

House is 70s era manufactured (the kind rolled in as 2-3 big pieces and dropped on a traditional foundation). Crawl space above would require crawling across fiberglass, but i suspect this bracket is original from the factory, and had to have been put up before drywall.

How is this thing attached and how to get it out? Or is it possible I've gotten lucky and it's fan rated? Tia

Even though this paper is about 18 mo old, I'm on the Mirror hype train now. WHAM/Realta team make the case for classic mirror end loss to actually be not that bad.

The results of the scaling laws are interesting too, Q is mostly dependent on NBI beam energy rather than mirror ratio which has a log dependence.

Tldr is they're going to recover energy from escaping particles, use the open fields as a natural exhaust port instead of divertors and balance that with fueling from the NBIs. Paraphrasing the authors, but ambitiously they think thermal net gain with Q_wp > 0.40 and electrical net gain Q_wp >0.85.
