Bitte lassen Sie Ihre Drohne am Boden!

Im Einsatzgebiet rund um den Waldbrand im Hürtgenwald gilt ein Flugverbot für private Drohnen.

In der vergangenen Nacht wurden im Bereich des Einsatzortes private Drohnen gesichtet. Jede private Drohne im Luftraum kann die Löschhubschrauber gefährden und die Brandbekämpfung behindern.

Unser dringender Appell: Lassen Sie Ihre Drohne am Boden!

Schaulustige werden zudem weiterhin aufgefordert, das Brandgebiet zu verlassen und im Weiteren großräumig zu meiden. Wir bitten darum, den Anweisungen der Einsatzkräfte Folge zu leisten.

Bitte helfen Sie mit, damit Feuerwehr, Polizei und alle weiteren Einsatzkräfte ihre Arbeit sicher und ungehindert fortsetzen können.

Ja, in der Nacht gibt es keine Löschflüge. Aber die Tatsache dass es dazu eine eigene Pressemitteilung aus gegebenen Anlass braucht, sagt einem doch schon alles über Leute in unserer Community was man wissen muss. Es gibt aktuell noch keine NOTAM, aber die braucht es bei einem Einsatzgebiet auch nicht LuftVO §21h/11 .

Jetzt können sich alle normalen Piloten das wieder über Monate anhören.

20 Schlagzeilen. Drohnenalarm am Flughafen. Drohnensichtung. Drohne legt Flugverkehr lahm.

Und erst viel später: MÖGLICHE, MUTMASSLICHE, etwas das eine Drohne gewesen sein könnte. Glauben gesehen zu haben.

Erst ganz am Ende: unbestätigt, nichts gefunden, keine Aufzeichnung.

Also erstmal Fakten. Zwei Piloten sehen etwas. Sie halten es für eine Drohne. Melden das. Tower sperrt alles. Polizei. Security. Es wird keine Drohne gefunden, kein Pilot, keine Aufzeichnung von den Drone Scannern am Flughafen.

War es eine Drohne? Ich schätze schon. Piloten sind keine Idioten. Oder ein UFO. Oder ein Vogel. Ist auch egal, denn für alle ist es jetzt eine Drohne.

Wenn es eine war: fuck you.

Aber wieso haben die Scanner nichts aufgezeichnet? Jeder flughafen hat Solche Systeme. München auch. Ein funksignal ist wie ein leuchtfeuer. Das ist im umkreis von 10km zu sehen.

Normally I would have done such a job with a more conventional drone. But I wanted to see how the avata360 perfoms for this kind of mission. We agreed on giving it a try and just send it to see if the additional creative freedom outweighs some of the drawbacks. In conclusion of the result I'd say its a tie, but in terms of actually getting the footage, the avata360 shines. This was done after closing the shop down, and of course after a long day its nice to have this done in about 10 minutes. Yes, 10 minutes, not the 4 runs I'd normally to for way over half an hour, Just 10 minutes. No need to take any risks, just slow and controlled. One run with the RC2, a second run with googles and fpv3. Out of these two 5 minute runs, I could have gotten enough footage for a 30 minute video. Thats one of the perks of the avata360 that rarely anyone talks about. You can just do a few easy lines, and you can be sure that there is footage that you can work with. The real challenge in editing is to sort out what NOT to put in the video.

I learned quite a bit on this project, some easy low hanging fruits, some things I have to plan differently next time, but in the end, while the result is not perfect, I am pretty fine with it.

Since this is reddit, a few FAQ in advance:

Whats up with that flicker?
I kinda fucked that up. I had deflicker on auto, that did not work obviously and I could not get it to switch to 50Hz. I should have changed the fps to 50 then, because thats the local energy frequency, but I had the first run in 60fps, and I wanted to avoid different framerates. I had hoped to find enough angles in post to not directly look at this effin three lamps, but in then end i didnt want to sacrifice the flow for that. This is going to be in a smaller embedd on the website, and it gets significantly less noticable when smaller.

Why is there stitching wobble?
Physics really, the stitching in DJI Studio does a pretty decent job in removing the wobble. but in this scenario there are some really close objects, which is not favourable for stitchting. The closer you get, the broader gets the angle bestween the two lenses. Add multiple layers to the scene and a bit of parallax, and the effect only gets worse. You can mask a lot of that wobbling with a smart angle that looks away from the stutching line, or a speedramp to fool the eye. I did not succeed in any occasion here, but especially on the first view, or when you are actually focus on the location itself and not spot for defects, its fine really.

Someone really paid for that shitty quality / shitty flying / shitty editing?
Yes, someone did, and was actually happy to do so. Well, at least happy with the result (don't know about the paying happiness). Most clients are not Stanley Kubrik, most are not editors or drone pilots. Most see these type of videos for the first time. Most are happy and amazed to see their own store from a new awesome perspective, and are happy to share that amazement that we all had on our own first few flights.

But I would never!
I understand and do respect that. I don't care though, but I do respect it.

Oh, and that music?
Thats royalty free for youtube. The original has a different soundtrack with a better fitting pace.

Asteroid? Really?
Yes, I have to confess that. I hate asteroid. And broke my oath to never subject the world to more of those tiny planets. But here it just fits. Idea was to start end end on asteroid, so the video can loop.

Pretty much everywhere and under every legislation it is mandatory to fly VLOS in the open categories. But why? While I can understand that rule for drones a decade ago, with unreliable video feeds, no safeguards like RTH on signal loss, auto RTH on low battery, obstacle avoidance, lidar and intelligent flight paths etc., I cannot see why this rule still applies to current drones that have all that. Of course I understand how slow rules change, and that they have to address the smallest common denominator, but what is today the real world benefit of actually seeing the drone and its attitude with my bare eyes? I would say that this is the least followed rule anyway. Why not just just set a minimum of safeguard function to create subgroups in the drone classes that are exempt from VLOS? Ya, politics, and a general tendecy to make flying more and more restricted, but surely there must be an actual reasoning behind VLOS.

Obviously applies to pretty much everywhere as well, but title format demands region.

On my last indoor, I could not change the flicker compensation from 'auto' to 50 or 60 Hz. The option is simply greyed out. Is it only available in certain modes? Auto did not work at all, and the only way to correct for that was to change the framerate manually to 50 fps. What am I missing?

Nach Menschen I und Menschen II, hier mal wieder ein Erfahrungsbericht der negativen Sorte. Das will ich diesmal nicht als Transskript wiedergeben, sondern viel mehr hinterfragen, wo denn das eigentliche Problem liegt.

Szenario: Flug in einem sehr schönen kleinen Park, Friedenspark (nomen est omen), römische Bogengänge, kleine Festungsanlage. 8 Leute auf der Fläche von zwei Fussbalfeldern verteilt. Zu einem Zeitpunkt fliege ich von unten schräg über eine Mauer in einen der Bögen, und auf der anderen Seite, 10m weiter steht jemand. Also stoppe ich, fliege zurück, und fliege 20m weiter durch einen anderen Bogen. Soweit so gut.

Als ich einpacke, spricht mich die Person an. Es folgt der übliche Ablauf. Es wird ein Verbot erfunden, dann das Recht am Bild diskutiert. Aber dann ging es weiter. China, USA, KI, deutsche IT Infrastruktur. Sicherheitslücken bei der SPD. Traumata in der Familiengeschichte, und zu guter Letzt, der Hinweis, dass ich mich irgendwann vor dem Schöpfer selbst verantworten müsse.

Es ging ganz schnell nicht mehr um unseren konkreten Fall. Sondern um ein persönliches Gerechtigkeitsempfinden. Nachdem die Person dann wilde Behauptungen aufgestellt hatte, wie sie persönlich von der Drohne - von mir - gezielt belästigt und bedroht worden ist, habe ich angeboten dass wir uns das Video vor Ort zusammen ansehen. Wollte sie nicht. Ich habe angeboten, die vier Sekunden in denen sie im Bild ist, vor Ort aus dem Video zu schneiden. Wollte sie auch nicht. Sie wollte, dass ich einsehe, das mein Hobby grundsätzlich und immer unmoralisch ist. Mit dem Rückhalt einer anonymen Mehrheit, 'die das alle nicht wollen'. Das wollte ich wiederum nicht (einsehen)

Das macht klar, die Leute sind zutiefst verunsichert, bis hin verängstigt. Schlecht informiert, von allem überfordert. Und ich kann es nicht verdenken. Panikmache von der Bild Zeitung bis in die öffentlich rechtlichen. Drohnen Krieg anderthalb Länder weiter. Ein permanentes, diffuses unterschwelliges Gefühl, dass jeder jedem andauernd irgendetwas Böses will. Wir sind eine Angstgesellschaft geworden. Natürlich sind wir dass. Hass und Hetze auf Plakaten. Panik macht Kasse. Psychopathen in Machtpositionen.

Ich will hier mal eine Lanze brechen, für die Drohnenhasser. Ich verstehe euch. Ihr habt eine Meinung, die steht euch zu, und ich respektiere die auch. Aber es ist eben nur genau dass. Eine Meinung. Die dürft ihr gerne haben. Aber aus deiner Meinung ergibt sich für mich eben kein Handlungsbedarf. Mir gehen auch viele meiner Mitmenschen auf die Nerven. Und dazu habe ich auch Meinungen. Aber mir fehlt die Egozentrik, anzunehmen, dass alle das was sie tun nur tun um mir aus den Sack zu gehen.

Ich möchte nicht in deinem Video sein. Ja. Ich möchte dich auch nicht in meinem Video haben. Das versaut meine Szene. Ich bin hier um den wunderschönen Park zu Filmen und nicht deinen fetten Arsch. Mist. Jetzt habe ich mich doch hinreißen lassen.

Das Ganze endete mit der üblichen hohlen Warnung dass die Person es nicht auf sich beruhen lassen würde, wenn sie sich jemals online in einem Video sieht. Als ob. Und als ob. Ich habe noch angeboten dass ich noch so lange warten würde bis die Polizei kommt wenn sie diese denn rufen möchte. Wollte sie aber nicht.
