Had to read this for a class. About 90% of the book is the author talking about "oh, this is the time I got a grant for such and such", "oh this is the time a student told me I was the best thing ever", "oh this time was when I won a prize".
The parts that aren't him talking about himself are him discouraging therapy and medication, and saying that you can just talk yourself out of mental illness.
In other parts of the book, he states that men are, on average, smarter and better thinkers than women.
One of the worst pieces of shit I have ever read.
They are: ADP-170 and CC-370. Unfortunately, I missed out on the tower speakers. They said that they did have them but they sold before me.
I'm testing the ADP speakers out, and they sound very good. But I can definitely tell they were meant to be surround speakers.

So, a few months ago my desktop failed pretty catastrophically. It cut off in the middle of me working on stuff, and I heard clicks from the relay of the power supply. I was able to reboot it, and it was okay, but I yanked the power supply from my backup PC - assuming that to be the issue.
Things were okay for a little bit (as in, a few days), and then I started experiencing random reboots. I left the computer off for a bit, because I assumed it to be the motherboard. Right when I got the new motherboard, I turned on the desktop and BANG, heard some capacitors blow up in the power supply. Welp.
What I think was actually the issue: I had added an EVGA Nu Audio sound card - older, but still supported by Win11. Everything had been okay up until a few weeks after I installed that.
I actually moved that sound card to my backup machine, and the motherboard died after I installed it (immediately). I assumed it was pretty safe that it was the sound card at that point. so I put it into the machine I use to test hardware that I think is faulty (which still inexplicably works now) and I heard some concerning sounding clicks - and yanked the power.
I replaced the motherboard, and power supply, and put in everything but the sound card (obviously), and I was still experiencing random restarts. And my AMD drivers were crashing. However, I think this was probably because I accidentally gouged the motherboard when putting everything back together (yeah, I know. It happens. At least to some of us.).
...Anyways, after all that, I rebuilt my machine with a new power supply and motherboard, and I put in a 3070Ti I had sitting spare because I'm kind of worried about the video card possibly being faulty. I don't want to lose everything again, if it is.
The video card is a 7800XT, which I bought new a few years ago. It's a better card than the 3070Ti, and I spent $600 on it, so I'd LIKE to use it.
Would you be concerned about using it if it's faulty? Should I just bite the bullet and put it in? I would put it into my guinea-pig machine, but it only has a 600W power supply.
They all work perfectly except for the 2014, which needs a new hard drive. I’ve been putting off the disassembly of it for a really long time now (several years). I really want an Intel Mac that I can do semi modern stuff with, so it’s going to fit that void…when it can.

2012 - i5, 8GB RAM, Yosemite. 500GB HD.
2014 - i5 2.8, 16GB RAM, no OS until HD replacement. I think it had Mojave on it. Dead 2TB Fusion Drive.
I wish I had gotten an M4 before they got expensive, but I still have that on my list.
I intend to get the M4 Pro model of it. I have an M4 MacBook Air so getting a plain M4 Mac Mini would be redundant.
This guy has an i5-8279U, 32GB RAM. I put in a 1TB nVME & a 750GB WD Black (spinning) HDD. Despite its age, it still performs very well and I quite like it. I have CachyOS on it right now, though it can run Win11 if I ever need Windows (god forbid).

I have driven by this house many times over the years, and I always feel like it's such a shame. The original owners of this house died many years ago (50+), and I don't know exactly when it was abandoned. It couldn't have been abandoned THAT long, because it would've already crumbled.
It's sad, though. In some comments on Facebook posts about this, people claim that relatives refused to sell it when it was in early stages of abandonment & still salvageable. Apparently some people offered pretty high lump sums for it.

So I have an old Dell Vostro laptop that doesn't work anymore. It had Windows on it.
I'm trying to copy what's in the user directory under "Documents and Settings". But whenever I open it in file explorer. all it will show is the desktop and start menu files. And when I try to copy the whole folder, it tells me access is denied.
I tried doing "takeown" of the entire drive, and it claims that it worked. Yet, I still cannot access or copy anything - in fact, it tells me access is denied from the USER THAT I AM LOGGED IN AS.
I tried hooking the drive up to both my Mac and my spare PC with Linux, and it will still only show me the Desktop and Start Menu directories - not showing me the Documents or anything. I know that there are Documents and Pictures in there, they exist. Why can't I get to ANYTHING?
Is there a corrupt drive structure? This machine was running Windows Home, which has no sort of bitlocker or whatever. After running takeown and not being able to get to anything, I tried seeing if I could get the laptop to boot - I could (with the screen propped up) - but now, since I did takeown, the Windows install on that laptop tells me that everything is "access denied".
Am I screwed? Can I copy anything? Why does it say that there is access denied from my OWN USER on Windows 11? Why can't I see any of the actual documents on Windows, Linux, or Mac?
I would do this by trying (I know that's the best way, ha!) but I don't actually have any epoxy, and I'd be buying it TO fix this.
(Rant: Why, until semi-recently, were screws so hard to use to attach a heatsink? Why did we have to do these stupid plastic or metal clips? Like, come on, 4 screws and the heatsink and fan is on. (Screams))
