What statistical concepts are commonly misunderstood by the general public?

I came across this post explaining what a 70% chance of rain means. I understand the concept, but it got me wondering: what other statistical concepts sound simple but are commonly misunderstood or misinterpreted by the general public?

EB2 PERM (ROW) later Feb 2026 AOS Filers, any approvals yet?

Hi everyone,

Has anyone with a receipt date of Feb 23 or later received AOS approval yet?

My priority date is Aug 20, 2024 (EB2 PERM, Rest of the World). I filed my I-140 and AOS concurrently on Feb 20, and my I-140 was approved on April 24 without premium processing. I did my biometrics on March 10.

I received a few silent updates on May 23, and another one today (June 28).

Inspiration from famous people sounds nice, but it rarely changes my life. What simple, everyday habit helps you stay healthier, happier, wealthier, or more successful?

What are some small, everyday habits or daily routines that have made a real difference in your life?

Sometimes I get a little more inspired to work on my fitness and go to the gym, but after a few days I stop going. Other times I say I’m going to limit myself to 30 minutes of TikTok a day, and I do well for a few days, but then I go back to watching considerably more than that. I also want to stop reading the news all day, but I keep sliding into the same cycle.

So I’m asking for your personal experience: What simple practice has helped you become healthier, happier, more financially stable, or more successful, and what keeps you doing it?

First-time dad needing advice

Hello everyone, first time dad, and honestly, I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed.

My wife and I are having a baby girl in December. We live in a little town in New Mexico and have no family in the area. Our delivering hospital is a two hour drive away, so that's another issue. We're doing all this on our own, so we could use some advice.

How do we prepare for being a parent in the next few months? And when she comes, what do we do with the stress of the baby and figuring things out with just the two of us?

World Cup '26 is Absolute Chaos! I am so pumped to see what happens next.

Thought the top teams would get easy wins?

Spain just got shut down 0-0 by Cabo Verde, while big dogs like Brazil and Belgium barely survived 1-1 ties with Morocco and Egypt. The underdogs are bringing the heat!

Just like Saudi Arabia shocking Argentina in '22 or South Korea beating Germany in '18, the smaller teams just aren't scared anymore. They are playing hard, and the talent gap is shrinking fast.

Forget the rankings; every giant is on upset alert. I am so pumped to see what crazy matches happen next. Let's go!

Update: Uruguay fails to beat Saudi Arabia.

Concerned Dad

Hi everyone,

I'm a first-time dad, and I'm getting pretty nervous. My wife and I are having a baby girl this December, but our current situation has me feeling a bit overwhelmed.

We moved to the US 3 years ago, so we're still getting used to the culture and have zero family nearby to help us out. We also live in a small town in New Mexico. While we have a local OB/GYN, the hospital where my wife will actually give birth is a 2-hour drive away.

Doing this all by ourselves is a lot to wrap my head around. I'd really appreciate some advice on:

-Before the baby comes: How do we handle this whole pregnancy journey and get ourselves ready over the next few months?

-After the baby is here: How do we actually do this parenting thing day-to-day, deal with the stress, and figure out our new life with just the two of us?

How close am I to final approval?

Hey guys,

I was tracking my EB2 AOS case via USCIS API data and just saw some "silent" updates this week (no public status change yet).

(EB2 PERM ROW, PD: 08/20/2024, AOS RD: 02/23/2026, Biometrics: 03/10/2026)

Wednesday (05/20): My main I-485 internal flag ackedByAdjudicatorAndCms flipped to true.

Saturday (Today at 7:05 AM MST): Both my I-485 and I-485J got an internal timestamp touch just half a second apart.

Both cases are still open, no action is required, and there are zero RFEs yet. How close am I to final approval?
