Does Douglas Reynholm have a type?

Last night while doing some boring house work and thinking about the IT crowd I stumbled on something I thought was interesting.

In S2E1 “The Work Outing” after the GAY! musical, Jen’s date finally breaks down over wanting the copy of Heat saying “I thought I could make it work between us, because you looked a bit like a man!”

So the writers were having fun making a joke about Jen‘s character being “a little less feminine“.

And in the very next episode S2E2 “Return of the Golden Child“ we see Douglas Reynholm deeply fawn and zero in on Jen at the funeral, which of course is followed up with multiple attempts to try and “bed her“ 🤣.

In season S3E4 “The Speech” Douglas falls for the trans writer April and later drops “Oh poppet, to think when we met you were so worried that you came from Iran”.

So the writers obviously liked rolling with the joke that Jen “kinda looked like a man“ and maybe Douglas was so infatuated with her because of her boyish charm and him secretly liking some women who had that.

At the funeral he specially focused in on Jen, and in the office he specifically chose Jen over any other woman in that building. Sure Jen is a main character but it’s still an interesting thought.

And of course this ignores the fact Douglas may have been secretly Bi, in the Roy lipstick episode “I admire you Roy, you have the guts to stand up for what you believe in“ and the end Douglas is wearing lipstick at the concert. Which I personally think this is more of him trying to be “hip” but it still makes you wonder what else the writers might have been thinking here.

Seriously Booking.com what happened. You used to be a great travel partner.

I’m a level 3 VIP traveler and used to have a dedicated support person to assist with questions or travel issues. The website is straight forward but sometimes questions pop up about a property before I book it, but I can’t reach anyone anymore.

I received a notification last week for a promotion of 10% in future travel credits after booking with no expiration date listed. I went to book this week and the code says it’s expired and none of my requests to customer service have been answered.

Very unfortunate. I’m going to stop using the service and hope this is a call to action for them to remove their AI assistant or at the least provide an option to speak with an actual person where a booking hasn’t been completed yet.
