ADC vs INBDE

Is there anyone who has experience with both exams? Asking because, I have prepared for INBDE exam last year and now I plan to write ADC. Id like to know if I can prepare for it in 3 months with the background knowledge i have from INBDE.

Which study materials would you recommend?

Coffee stains inside brass filter

Please help me. I use pitambari to clean it and remove the oxidisation. But there are coffee stains within which don't seem to go away. What can I use to clean the inside?

Gender disappointment

I had my 12 week ultrasound today and the doctor said it's highly likely it's a boy. Although I'm very grateful that my baby is healthy so far, I'm quite disappointed with the gender. Please hear me out.

I lost my mom 7 years ago and actually I was not even around her when she passed away. I was studying in a different country and by the time I reached my hometown, she had passed away.

I truly believed my mom would be born to me again so I would finally get a chance to take care of her.

Before I tested positive for pregnancy, I also had a nice dream where my mom was carrying a toddler (a girl child) which I believe is mine.

I know it might sound all crazy, but I just somehow can't accept that this is going to be a boy. It makes me feel as if my mom does not want to do anything with me anymore.

How can I get over this feeling? I'm sure I'll love the baby once it's born, and I will do the best as a parent. But I don't know if I can ever get past the guilt of not having a girl.

Can the nub theory end up being wrong?

Is there any point in hoping that it might still be a girl?

NT Scan

SSW 11

OPT/H1B - Healthcare

Hi everyone, since the sub is dominated with STEM, I'd like to get a picture of how the OPT and H1B system is as of now for the healthcare industry.

I'm a prospective dental student (completed BDS in India) looking to study MS in the USA. For multiple reasons including the amazing research and new clinical techniques there.

But I'm confused and can't get enough details to make a decision - they say there are lots of exemptions to rules like the 100k$ h1b rule, etc. But most news is focused on Stem people.

Also for medical/dental, the general OPT is just 1 year. Students like me will be screwed if they scrap that too.

Additionally, if there are immigrant doctors or dentists in this group, or know about the situation and demand for healthcare professionals, please share your opinions

Telekom (Switch to Glasfaser?)

We have Telekom Internet at home, and we pay 56€ per month (which already feels too expensive)

Today a salesman came and he constantly keep pushing us to switch to Glasfaser. We sent him back saying we need time to think, but here are the details I gathered from him (I'm not sure if this is 100% correct because of my average German)

It sounds too good to be true:

If we switch,

  1. First 3 months will cost 20€

  2. 4th month onwards, 45€

  3. We can rent router for 7€/month.

  4. Or we can use the current router and just buy a modem for 50€.

  5. We can also buy a new Glasfaser modem for 290€. Telekom will give a Gutschein for 100€, so it'll effectively cost us 190€.

Was anyone told the same prices?

Unfortunately, I do not find this plan online. What am I missing?

Property costs

Came across a property near mylapore. 510 sqft studio for 1.1 cr. Is this really the going rate in the city these days?

The advantages I see are:

- suitable for singles and couples

- near an icse school (but the apartment is too small for family with kids)

- 10 mins walkable to a metro station

- residential locality with lift

Are there good chances of appreciation? What kind of rent can be expected from a property like this?

Note: looking as an investment option and not for living.

Choline

To all moms who took choline supplement during pregnancy, do you have smart kids?

My doctor does not recommend choline because there isn't enough data, but I live in Germany and I can imagine that the practitioners are also not the most updated.

I saw on this sub that some doctors in the USA seem to be fine with it.

PS. I'm vegan, so I do not eat eggs

Hi NRIs, we always speak about ageing parents, but what concerns me just as much is aging grandparents (how little time our kids have with our parents who are back home). I hope my kids will experience how we enjoyed our time with our grandparents. But it seems like a distant dream now. Especially for those in the USA, we get a maximum of 20 days/year in India which have to be split between two pairs of grandparents.

How do you make sure your kids bond and enjoy their time with grandparents?

Do you make your parents visit you abroad very frequently?

How do you try to keep family stories alive? What if my parents are too old and not willing to travel? How to close this gap?
