Update on idiot chef trying to poison people with his veal stock.
Small update to this post
So the dude is gonna get fired. That much was clear already. (Dutch laws so they cant just fire him on the spot like in the usa)
Doesn't know this yet, since boss is worried he won't show up anymore as soon as they tell him.
What he also does not know is that the 2 shifts I am rostered in at their restaurant next month, I wont be there. They're gonna leave the roster as is, so he only finds out on the day itself. He'll be alone that day and theyre not gonna see about finding someone else to cover.
Cuz in the words of my boss "If hes such an amazing chef, like he claims to be. He can work the kitchen alone."
This is the same guy who almost panics when he has more than 25 people in the restaurant. he claims that to serve that many people he needs 4 cooks. Well, hes gonna have to do those 25-30 people by himself. No help. Sink or swim buddy. Tho, everyone knows what's gonna happen. That is his problem tho.
I am enjoying this. A whole lot.
I'm right, right?
Partly writing this do double check myself, eventhough i know im right. And partly writing this because I need to vent after almost having a fist fight with the chef of our sister company.
Here's the deal:
Both restaurants are closed on wednesdays. I work for a brunch place, he a dinner place. They've been making veal stock, which they left on the stove during their day off.
This morning I find this stock pot, completely at room temperature with just a rag over it. So I left a note that it was left unchilled and need to be thrown out.
Next thing I know their headchef is in my kitchen, swearing at me, calling me a bad cook who knows nothing, that this way of making veal stock is the norm every where and that "he will destroy me right here"
Im not scared of the shit stain, but i am livid. This isn't normal. That stock pot was left to cool down (in a fckn heatwave i might add) and for bacteria to have a party in there for at least 24 hours. Im not an idiot right? Please tell me this is not the norm?!
Edit: talked to the owner. He helped me calm down a bit by letting me know the guy is gonna get fired next week. Yay
I thought a made a royal fuck up when I flashed over the wall and saw my timing was way off.
Yes, i am low elo. I am sorry im bad.
I swear to god I'm gonna punch someone soon
I won't actually, because unlike many other at the company i work at, I am in fact a (somewhat) decent person.
Recently started as the head chef for a nice brunch place. Used to work for one of their sister companies until that unfortunately went tits up. For once this was really not the fault of the owners. When they asked me if I wanted to start this new place with them, I went for it.
My place is running perfectly now, after a few hiccups in the first week. The problem is that we share the same dish pit with their fine diner. Its a mess. Always has been, even when I occasionally covered a shift there several years back.
But hey, it's my working space now so instead just nagging about the problem, I decided to give it a deep clean today. Start fresh, with a clean dishpit. Brought over my favourite dishie who's an absolute manace when it comes to cleaning.
While we're literally on our knees scrubbing every surface down, the floor manager of the fine diner walks by. Sit down just outside with a view on us cleaning with what by then was possibly more sweat than anything else. Casually lights up a cigarette and had the audacity to start telling us what to do and how to clean.
I almost lost it. I am there cleaning up after their years of neglect and then do that?! I just flipped her of and closed the door. No need to start scolding her. Especially not in front of the 16 year old dishie.
I am saving my fury for the upcoming staff meeting. This will not happen under my watch. They will do their part and shut up about it. Im gonna make damn sure of that. If not, I will simply start dumping all their garbage, left over scrub water and whatnot straight back into their kitchen.
Thank you for coming to my Ted-talk.
What a simple ratchet strap can achieve. Brought home several boxes of fancy beer glasses that were destined to be thrown out.

Thc vapes in eindhoven
Ill be travelling through eindhoven tomorrow. I bought a weed vapes and some carts last time I was there at the pink. I really liked them, but I was wondering if theyre the only place that sells them or if there are more options. Cant complain about what they had, just would like to see some more options if theyre there.
Also, does anyone know if these vapes are actually part of the wietproef. Its hard to find actual info on any of this online
Some foreign couple moved in next to me and I hate it.
I mean, all they do is cook amazing food. Make my whole garden smell of it and then have the audacity to ask me over and enjoy it with them?! How dare they! Don't they know I cannot resist a good baklava, köfte or lahmacun? Ill grow fat you know and it'll be their fault.
And don't even get me started on their lil kiddo. How dare he ring my bell in the middle of the day to ask his ball back? I told him to not ring my bell ever again (and just get his ball himself since the gate is always open).
They don't even have a lawn in their garden yet. Like come on, now I am gonna be spending next saterday afternoon helping them lay down some turf. For what?! More kind words and that sweet, sweet baklava? I am honestly almost seething. Why do I need to give up my afternoon just so a kid can be happily playing outside? Don't they know i am currently in between jobs and have very little to do?
In all seriousness: the whole neighbourhood has been kinda bad towards them. They're something called "statushouders" here. Which are foreigners who, for whatever reason, have been deemed to really need a place to live and get assigned social housing before natives. This pisses off so many people near me. Putting the blame in the families shoes, who (have not asked yet, its been a week since they moved in) probably ledt their country in a dire situation and under much duress.
I am just really glad they moved in next to me and not some other people living nearby. At least I know i will be doing my best to make them feel at home as soon as they can. Also, yay more baklava for me.
Cycled 40k to find some free weed on the ground.
The nearest dispensery from my home is just about a 10km cycle. No biggie, I like cycling and the roads here are safe. So today, as i so often do, cycled over. Had a smoke in their smokers lounge and cycled back totally zen while listening to an audiobook.
Back home, have a snack and I try to grab my backpack to roll another. FUCK. Its still at the dispensary...
Now I've got two options:
Leave it there and pick it up tomorrow. Smokers lounge is members only so they know its mine.
Or
Cycle another 20k to pick it up.
Back we go...
After a good chuckle about me not realising I wasn't wearing my backpack for 10 fckn kilometers I wall back to my bike only to find a baggie of prolly 3g of nice nugs.
Free weed. Made the second trip more than worth it.
