What is the lore behind girls not getting their period in this world?
I didn't read the book but watched the whole series a couple of years ago. I don't remember there being much spoken about women not getting their periods. Obviously I know about birth rates being low, but I found it so interesting when Daisy (in the Testaments) said to June no girls she knew had gotten their period yet? What age is she meant to be like 17/18? That is like a serious cause for concern? But of course in the world of Gilead its not concerning for women's health just concerning that they are not having babies like they're built for 😪 God forbid. I am wondering is this explored more in the books? Its an interesting one, you see Shunamite talking about her clean eating, no plastics etc etc in Gilead which should mean she is healthy enough to get her period but I don't think that's how it works 😅 Also I remember in THT June and Luke talking about how he has to sign off on her getting her birth control at the pharmacy. WILD. Obviously another way of showing who could get pregnant. I'm honestly just shooting the shit not looking for any definitive answers!
