Browser downloads constantly fail mid-way on Windows, but work perfectly on Linux (Same hardware/network)
OS: Windows 10 LTSC (i tried win10 and still have the issue)
OS build : 19044.7291
Network Setup: Optic Fiber, 2.4GHz band (150/150 Mbps link speed)
Hardware: Generic 802.11n USB Wireless LAN Card
Hey everyone, I'm dealing with a bizarre network issue where browser downloads consistently drop and change to a "Failed" status mid-download. This happens across different browsers and with all types of files, though larger files (1GB+) fail almost immediately, while small files sometimes manage to squeak through.
Here is the critical part that points to a Windows-specific software/driver stack issue:
- It works perfectly on Linux: Dual-booting into Linux on the exact same machine, using the exact same USB Wi-Fi adapter on the exact same network, downloads complete at full speed with zero issues.
- Hardware/Dongle ruled out: I tried an entirely different USB Wi-Fi antenna on Windows, and the exact same random failures occur.
- ISP/Router ruled out: The fiber connection is stable on all other devices.
