Taking off progressives to read?
I (49M) wear progressives (-3.5/-3.0 distance, +1.75 reading) because I teach and I need to go back and forth between focusing on my notes and focusing on the class. My optometrist today told me that my reading prescription is changing faster than it should for my age, which she suggested is due to me taking off my glasses to read instead of depending on the reading Rx of my glasses. It's always just been comfortable to remove my glasses to read, and I've never heard that it might be damaging. She tried explaining to me why and I just didn't understand. I'm planning to keep my glasses on for reading as she suggests - she's the doctor but could someone help me better understand why this is better for my eyes?
