Favorite older Boiler Room sets? (2010-2016)

I know Boiler Room gets dunked on because how shitty it is now, but it was one of the first mediums that got me into house music right around the time I graduated college in 2013. Wondering what are some of the greater sets of that era.

How many records do you own and what genre(s) do you play?

Just curious to see. I have a little over 200 and am trying to get back into learning to DJ after only starting during Covid but stopping because I went hardcore into studying for my CPA license. I mostly have house, disco, and some ambient electronic stuff, but it never feels like I have enough of one genre.

Looking for an old live Youtube video (Chicago)

Longshot, but in high school (circa 2006/2007) I used to watch this black and white video of them playing live in Chicago in what looked to be a warehouse. The video was only one song (Tapir's Flown Away) but because Youtube's search function is utter shit now, it feels impossible to find. Wondering if anyone saved it somewhere.

Were there any good punk bands in the 00's?

I know it sounds like a kind of ridiculous question, but I was a teen at the time listening to a lot of brocore hardcore bands and some street punk at the time. I feel like neither has aged very well, but I was thinking in terms of punk, what was good out of that era? The only band I can sort of think of was A Global Threat, but how often do I put that on rotation? The 2010's had all these awesome bands like Culo, Warthog, Impalers, Glue, etc. etc. But all the bands in the 2000's were of that lame street punk variety that no one remembers or cares about anymore.

Anyone take the Texas Ethics Exam?

I know it's open book, but just wondering how long it took you and what to expect. How long should I study before taking it?

Looking for a house song I think I heard off the Youtube channel Gazzz696 sampling a pissed off dude

Total shot in the dark, but figured I would try. It was released in the past 10-15 years. The only thing I can recall is a sample that plays over and over of this guy getting pissed at his friend that every time they go out he gets too drunk and nude? (or something like that) then it ends with "You make me sick!" If I could find that sample alone I would be grateful.

I think Dallas wins in House culture in Texas

Who else was at the Theo Parrish set @ ShyBoy HiFi last night? I drove all the way up from Austin yesterday just to see him, incredible set. I'm a South Florida transplant whose been living in Austin for a decade now. I mainly moved there because there isn't as many touring bands going through Miami, so Austin has been amazing in that regard. However, the House scene here is kinda lacking, there's definitely some good small pockets but sometimes I feel like the crowd is a little "stiff". Ever since I moved here, a lot of people talk shit about Dallas as being "pretentious" or whatever, but the whole vibe of that event was real. People knew the lyrics to more obscure tracks and no one felt weird about getting into it and embracing the moment. Honestly felt like I was back in Miami, and not in a douchey/flashy way, just authentic underground house culture that I feel I've been yearning for for a long time and that helped fill that hole.

Is my controller bullshitting me about an opportunity to get promoted?

Work in industry, been working with this company as a staff accountant for a few years now, passed all my CPA exams, just finalizing all the paper work/bureaucracy. Recently, my controller left for another position and they promoted my senior staff accountant to her position. I asked her about the job search for another senior accountant to replace, and she said they were going to look externally because they need someone with X amount experience as a senior staff accountant already (she made a lateral move when coming onto the senior staff accountant position) Then she asked if I was interested in the role, and I said yes. She said she didn't realize I was interested and hadn't even asked the other staff accountant if he wanted to apply for the role and that she should probably bring it up. So she says she'll talk to the CFO and see if she can schedule me an interview. The next day she calls me into her office and tells me that they don't think it's good idea to promote internally because neither me or the other staff accountant have the experience they need and it would require a lot more training to get us prepped for this role, but that she really appreciates everything I do and it would be really hard if I left the company for another position (there's just a lot of shit that would be a pain in the ass to train someone else on the stuff I know right now because we're a little short staffed) She also said she would train the other staff accountant and I in the next few years for this particular role in the event that the senior staff accountant got promoted to assistant controller/accounting manager. Ah well, whatever.

Today (a little less than a week after that conversation) she messages me because she wants to talk about the senior staff accountant position. So when I go in, she says she talked to the CFO and he would be willing to give me an interview (hmm) She shows me the job description and goes into detail about what they are looking for in this role, what she did in this role, and how I've done some of this stuff (as to advocate for myself) and to submit a cover letter and resume before the end of the week. Which, all of this sounds good and I'm GOING to do it anyways, but I can't help but feel weird that when she initially went to the CFO about this it was a no for an interview, and all the sudden it's a yes? Feels like they're trying to keep morale high by giving me the opportunity for this interview but they're just going to say no anyways followed with "but we can do things here to prepare you for that promotion in the future!.... which will be some amount of undefined years and may never actually come to fruition"

Can someone explain this transition to me?

44:29 of this video

I don't understand exactly what's happening. I understand he beatmatched the two records, but did he press some button that just flipped to the other channel? I only have my little Xone 32 mixer so I'm sort of ignorant about these features...

Anyone else having a hard time trying to wake up and get out of this time of year?

My girlfriend and I have been really struggling the past few weeks. I thought maybe I wasn't hydrating enough during the day, so I upped that but I still can barely open my eyes. Is it possible allergies have something to do with it?

How much do musicians listen to their own music?

Like, surely if you create something it's because it would be something you would want to listen to, right? So how often do musicians enjoy listening to their own music compared to listening to other artists?

Can I use either an expired Passport or Short-Form Birth Certificate to get a US Passport

I only have a short-form birth certificate and an expired passport from when I was under 16. The only other ID I have is a social security card.

Birth Certificate only lists county born in, should I put the city or the county?

Basically what the title says, DS-11 wants the City and State, but my birth certificate only has a county listed. Should I put my birth city on there or just put the county name?

What was even the point of Hamas revising their charter?

Like it was clearly all bullshit, especially after October 7th. I thought their whole aim was to make it seem like they weren't some anti-semitic organization meant to kill all the Jews in Israel, but were really just working to govern the Gaza Strip. Does a terrorist organization really need to be concerned about public relations/image? What am I missing here?

I feel like it's kind of a 90's decor thing. It starts with one glass frame that look like these, then the next to that glass frame has another glass frame stacked on top, then the next one is a column of three, then four, and onwards. Kind of think about it like steps.
