Some annoyances I have about rovers

I recently landed a proper rover on Duna. Initially, I manually drove it around, and later I learnt how to use the mechjeb rover autopilot to make long journeys possible.

Now, idk why but my rover keeps flipping over on almost every jump. Like at first it gets launched into the air (during which it is stable), but upon landing, the wheels make the rover bounce with a great force for some reason, and this bouncing never stops. By the time it dies down, the rover has already lost its solar panels along with equipment that was sticking out. I then have to click on an earlier save and restart the drive.

Another one is when the rover gradually starts sinking into the ground while driving and then the wheels hit some kind of invisible wall, leading to the rover's destruction.

The rover currently on Duna has already had 2 flipping incidents, one of which took away one of the solar panels and the scanning arm, and the other fortunately did nothing. Still, this means I can't drive the rover at high speeds or on steep slopes for a long time as one solar panel cannot provide enough charge, and I lost the ability to scan meteorites and blueberries (though those scans were already done before so not really a big deal). Ik I should have included reaction wheels, but idt even they could have fixed the issue.

Descent into the starry night

Landing in the Eve night hit different. Had 'Blinding Lights' playing in my head as BGM.

Tbh driving on Eve is a lot easier due to the increased gravity. On the Mun, I constantly have to worry about the rover taking off and landing the wrong way resulting in something breaking.

Got a rover on Duna

Finally managed to make a controlled rover landing onto Duna's surface using my improved landing design. Had to drive to the other side of the mountain to get to the anomaly.

Basically the transfer stage makes a deorbit burn, jettisons the descent capsule, and gets into orbit again to begin its relay duties. The descent capsule flies through the atmosphere. Once subsonic, the fairing and heat shield are discarded and parachute descent begins. The parachute cluster is discarded after landing.

Now, idk what I do with the anomaly i just discovered.

Hilton Falls, Ontario

Was my first ever solo hike, did it a week ago. Used AllTrails (the app is goated) and the posted park map to plan out an 11 km route. The main highlight was walking on the rocky (unintended Hail Mary reference) Hilton falls side trail (my casual running shoes took the beating well), and Hilton falls itself, including the ruins around it. Got to interact with a few hikers on route, and one of them offered to give me some bug spray (which was a relief because the mosquitoes were annoying af).

What's strange is that the weather forecast predicted a rainy hike, yet the sky was too empty for that, and the air was hot, and as I predicted, it did not rain. Would have gone regardless as that was one of the few optimal days of my academic term.

P.S. A 4 year old midrange Samsung isn't the best phone to click pictures with. Reddit compresses some pictures in a bad way too.

P.S. The route i posted isn't the exact route I followed, but an existing one i decided to make some modifications to.

Nailed a direct Kerbin-Moho transfer

Unlocking Ion engines gave me about 7000 delta V. Just enough to transfer to Moho, and get captured into Moho orbit.

To know how tiny this probe is, take a look at the antenna (the one on the side, the one on the top is a radar altimeter). Nothing is tweakscaled here.

Duna's North pole highlands is a dangerous biome to drive in

I was maintaining a rover speed of around 10 m/s in this hilly biome. Now, my rover took air a couple of times because of how undulating the terrain was.

At one point the rover seemed to be driving through air, then it began to sink into the ground, even drove through it. Then, it hit some invisible wall and blew up. 2 hours of effort gone in a second.

Why do people leave their trash in the theatre when there are bins outside?

Me and a group of friends recently went to watch Obsession. The movie was great btw, acting was amazing, and you could feel true horror.

Now, once the movie was over, we got up from our seats. I picked up my trash. My friends didn't. When I asked them to, one of them said 'Someone will come and clean it, why do a janitor's job when it is not needed?' Another asked me why I was so concerned about my trash if others were leaving theirs behind and that was the norm. I was so stunned by how entitled their response was I just refused to speak about that anymore.

Now, I am so surprised by how normalized this trend has become. People leaving their trash behind because 'someone will clean it up', 'everyone around me is doing it', 'I am not a janitor, it is not my responsibility'. Keep in mind most janitors are minimum-wage workers who are only expected to do a quick sweep and dusting before every screening, so every bit of extra time they take in cleaning up shit they were not supposed to clean is every bit of time added to the delay for the next screening. Oh, I forgot, why care about the people attending the next screening when you have finished watching the movie?

I was always taught since childhood that picking up your own trash is basic etiquette, and a way to respect janitors. It shows you care about their job. And in this world where everyone wants to advance in their careers rapidly, empathy and etiquette is what people forget.

Ts so boring sitting at home

Literally can't step outside the house (or even open the windows for fresh air) because a random leaf in a forest decided to combust instead of photosynthesising food like leaves should.

Built a throttlable Kraken Drive for my drone

Planning to send this drone to Eve. Jets won't work there, and I'm too lazy to integrate props into this design, so put effort into making the docking port drive throttlable by adding in pistons. Shit works like magic.

Edit: This isn't cheating.

First time trying Kraken drive

Attached 2 docking ports facing each other inside a cargo bay.

Difficult part here is maintaining speed as the force isn't that high to begin with. Still, got to make this tiny plane.
