Here's the secret to not losing muscle and strength as you get older

l made this post in the aging parents sub and l got banned for it. l personally don't see anything wrong with it, so if there's an issue, mods l would prefer a warning and correction, not a ban from nowhere.

I'm a certified geriatric medical doctor, and l also volunteer to take care of older patients in my free time. Just wanted to let you know that a lot of muscle loss and loss of strength is avoidable, and you can still be strong in your old age. I'm going to try to explain the analogy in the simplest way possible. Forgive me if it sounds dumb.

Our bodies are like a Lego castle, and muscles are made from protein Lego bricks. Our bodies need a constant reminder to keep those blocks together. When people get older, they usually stop lifting heavy things or challenging their bodies.

But without the hard work of pushing or pulling against weight, like doing squats out of a chair or using stretchy bands, the body thinks you don't need those muscles anymore and starts throwing the bricks away.

At the same time, older people need to eat more protein, because their bodies waste a lot of those proteins and do not turn them into the amino acids efficiently needed to make muscle. But you know, a lot of older people don't like protein-heavy meals; they prefer tea, toast, etc. Without new Lego bricks coming in from food, the body gets desperate for energy and actually tears down its own muscles to burn them as firewood just to stay alive.

So doing nothing will melt the muscle and make them weaker over time. To stop this, make sure you do some strength exercises; it doesn't have to be intensive, just enough to remind your body not to break down those muscles. Also, make sure you are eating enough easy-to-digest protein bricks every single day.

l hope this does not sound like a water-is-wet analogy. Feel free to ask questions, l will be happy to answer.

If you want your parents to be more independent and help them not lose muscle and strength. Have them move more

Hello, I'm a certified geriatric medical doctor, and l also volunteer to take care of older patients in my free time. Just wanted to let you know having your parents not lift things or do things by themself is doing more damage than good. I'm going to try to explain the analogy in the simplest way possible. 5 Months Affiliate Marketing

Started affiliate marketing at the end of January, and this is how much I've been able to make so far. It might not seem like a lot to some people, but it has definitely improved my life because I do this alongside a regular job. I just wanted to post this because it might inspire someone to start affiliate marketing.

It's one of the easier online businesses to start. Don't confuse that with easy, I just mean the barrier to entry is low. Everything I've made so far was done without spending a dime on a website or ads.

I discovered a gap in the market

So I saw a niche that a lot of people are making sales in through organic traffic on a certain platform, and I think it could do even better on another platform I've used before. The people on that platform really like this type of stuff.

The issue is that I have problems with payment processors where I'm from, so actually selling the product is going to be difficult for me.

Because of that, I'm looking for a partner who's willing to try and scale this with me.

Not a lot of capital is needed. Matter of fact, almost none at all besides maybe a domain name and Shopify hosting.

If you're someone who has access to payment processors, experience running online stores, or you're just interested in building something together, feel free to reach out.

Looking for a partner!

I'm 21 and have been in the make-money-online space for about 4 years now. I've tried a bit of everything, from dropshipping to affiliate marketing, and I've picked up a lot of experience along the way.

I feel like my location has been one of the biggest things holding me back. I'm from South Africa, and we don't have access to a lot of the opportunities, payment processors, and organic marketing platforms that people in other countries take for granted. Organic marketing on has been especially difficult.

I've managed to make over $10k from affiliate marketing, with around $2k earned so far this year.

Since organic marketing has always been a challenge here, my next step was going to be paid ads. I'm actually pretty good at marketing, and I was confident I could make it work. But right when I had saved up enough money to start testing, life happened and I had to spend almost all of my $1.5k savings. Now I'm basically back at square one.

I also used to run a subreddit that was growing well and generating income for me, but that recently got banned, so I'm rebuilding from the ground up again.

I'm mainly posting this because I'm hoping to find someone with experience, resources, or complementary skills who's interested in figuring this out together. I'm looking for serious partners, not people trying to pitch affiliate offers.

If you have experience building online businesses, traffic generation, paid ads, content, or you simply live in a country with access to opportunities that aren't available here, I'd love to connect and see if there's something we can build together.

l Made all of my vacation clothes

Ps: This is a repost. I posted it in the sewing community and got took down.

I challenged myself to make all of my vacation clothes. I told myself I wasn't going to pack anything I bought, except for shoes and socks, of course.

I did this because of my grandma, who had recently passed away. She was the reason I got into sewing in the first place. After she passed, I inherited some of the clothes she had made herself, and that inspired me to start sewing.

When I made these, I had only recently gotten into the hobby and was on the verge of quitting. I wasn't putting much effort into my projects, so I decided to push myself by making this challenge. I figured if I was going to wear the clothes on vacation, I'd be forced to make something that wouldn't get me laughed at.

Stupid motivation, I know, but it worked.

Looking back, I'm really proud of what I was able to make. Especially considering most of these were self-drafted. l will be sharing more of these outfits on here, some on my profile.

For those asking we went to France and Italy.

After Months of Practice

Looove wearing these two self-made pieces as a set, but I also get so much wear out of them as separates! This is one of my projects I'm mostly proud of. Took me a lot of hard work and almost giving up to get to this stage. Now I can proudly wear clothes I made myself. 90% of my wardrobe is all self-made stuff. l have more

took some pictures of my new selfmade (and very wrinkled) summer pants

Elastic-waist wide-leg pants with oversized patch pockets. Woven cotton blend, finished with French seams and a simple turned hem.

The wrinkles are 100% because I got impatient. I pressed everything nicely while sewing, put them on to take photos, sat down for about five minutes, and they immediately looked like this. I almost re-ironed them before posting, but figured it was a more honest picture of how I’ll actually wear them. I’m calling it lived-in texture now. 😅 First time posting on here, and I will be posting more of my projects in the future.
