Ideas for natives in east facing garden, shaded mostly in summer, full sun in winter

Looking for ideas on what to plant underneath these trees. The tricky thing is the branches/leaves will shade them during summer but then they will be in about 6hrs of direct sun over autumn/winter/spring

Advice on removing this monstrosity

The leaves are razor sharp and leave you with stinging cuts. We are thinking hacking at it with a chainsaw. But will probably have to suit up completely regardless, we have no idea how difficult the roots are. Pray for us 😫

Need advice on digitally planning out a native garden!

Hey guys! I’m looking to plant a decently sized native garden in my mums front yard. It’s currently all completely grass except for two medium sized trees. I’m having a difficult time properly conceptualising and planning it out. Was wondering if anyone who’s planned a garden before has any good programs or tips they’d like to share?

My first project, haven’t dropped any stitches but my tension has obviously got a lot tighter 🙃

I’m starting to stress about the difference between the start and current row of this baby blanket I’m making. It’s way shorter now and looked super uneven. Will blocking it save it slightly or is it just going to look absolutely ridiculous? 🥲 I’ve put so many hours into it and it’s a gift for someone

Can anyone ID this pest on my plant???

Jokes aside this is Penny and she thinks the plant pole is her personal playground 😆 no plants or snakes were harmed

These Lewins honeyeaters were going crazy on this palm in our backyard. There were about 6 of them, I’ve never seen so many together. Central Coast, NSW

My partner and I are attempting to grow veggies for the first time. Advice on keeping possums out?

Hi guys! As the title says we are growing veggies for the first time this winter. It’s still very early on so most things have stayed untouched but we have multiple brushtail and ringtail possums around and on our property

I’m worried that one everything starts to come to fruition they’re going to treat themselves to a buffet 😬 wondering what the best (and safest for the wildlife) option would be?

My cat went missing for 12.5 years. This is him when we got him back vs 6 months later

He was handed into a vets as a stray, weighing barely 2kg (4.4lbs) and with a nasty tumour in his ear. Thank you to the power of the microchip (and mum not changing her number) we were reunited !! We paid for the tumour to be removed and despite all the risk factors weighing against him (he was 16, severely anaemic, and they knicked an artery during the surgery, almost causing him to bleed out) he made a full recovery!!

We still have no idea where he went that whole time. He went missing in 2012 and we got him back last year, and he was found about 25km (15.5 miles) away from our home. But it’s crazy how much a bit of love (and food) can do 🥰

I’ll be travelling to Perth from Sydney in July with my partners band for a couple of shows but they’re all pretty much only able to go for the shows and then want to drive back straight away but I’m really wanting to hang around for a few more days and then make my way back.

Was considering doing the ‘drive a van/car back for free/cheap for a company’ option but don’t know anyone who’s done it before. Any input is greatly appreciated!!
