Walk me through labor

Hi! FTM here due in August.

I know the “gist” of being in labor- contractions, epidural, pushing, all that good stuff. But would love to hear your experiences of things that are maybe not talked about as much? Or things that happened to you that were unexpected.

Of course everyone is different but I want be prepared as possible for what I might expect!

I do plan on delivering vaginally with an epidural if possible

Question about baby shower

My baby shower is coming up in June and I need a little guidance as to what to actually do at the shower…

It’s going to be a very casual, backyard party style shower. Men, women, children invited. Hamburgers/ hotdogs, beer, corn hole, stuff like that.

My mom is planning most of the party but the two of us are split in terms of what sort of “entertainment” there should be.

I think since it’s a very nontraditional shower anyways, we don’t really need to include things like games or even gift opening. But she has a good point in saying that those things take up time and is worried about “dead space” aka people just standing around, especially since a lot of these people won’t know each other.

I’ll be honest I really don’t want to play any cheesy games or have to sit in front of 30 people and open presents for an hour (are people going to be upset if I don’t open their gift???)

Idk, I’m conflicted. I do think there needs to be some structure I guess, but I mean normal summer parties don’t usually have activities and go on just fine. I think since it’s technically a baby shower is where we’re getting thrown off.

Any advice would be helpful!

Is a HYSA the best option for me?

Hi all,

I have to admit I am pretty ignorant when it comes to a lot of things finance but I am trying to be better. With that being said - I am wanting to put some money into an account to have it grow over time. Would a HYSA be the best option for this? I am expecting my first child in August so hoping to start saving up for any large expenses that will come our way down the road.

It wont be a lot of money, probably 1k is all I would be able to put in there right now. I hope to be able to add some money each month but it would likely only be 100-200 dollars. I currently am just using a Chase checking/ savings account.

Any advice or information would be great! Than

30F, 24 weeks pregnant. This evening I noticed slight swelling in my left ankle only. No recent trauma to the area, no pain/tenderness, no blurred vision or shortness of breath. Area is not red or warm to the touch. Can walk without pain. Not running a fever. Basically 0 symptoms aside from the ankle. I have felt baby move throughout the day/ evening.

Picture is from about 3 hours ago when I first noticed it, seems like it has gone down slightly since then.

I did call my OB’s triage line- the nurse stated I should go to the ER just to be safe. My plan was to monitor throughout the night and if worse/ no change in the morning head to the ER.

Just wondering if I am making a mistake by not going tonight. The swelling is so slight, I can’t help but to feel like I would be wasting time/ money going there.
