Visual story telling

This isn’t just a post about Aira losing, but about the character development from both of them (mainly Aira) and Tatsu’s ability to write it with little to no dialogue. For a long while now, Aira has basically been obsessed with Ken. This chapter not only puts her love/obsession to rest with Ken finally admitting that he can’t reciprocate her feelings but also shows it visually.

Despite being in critical condition she’s the one who’s clinging on to him. From dragging him along to the barber shop, from trying to forcefully grab his wrist and even wrapping her arms around him. This is further symbolized by the space between their hands after his confession about Momo. Their hands never truly meet because that sort of connection was never possible. Her grabbing his wrist instead of the hand showed her imposing her own one sided affection onto him. When she spoke to him and shouted for him to listen to her demands, he never responded and blatantly ignored her.

Even in her last ditch effort, hugging him from behind. He still never touches her hands but pushes her away by the arms. As he walks away she realizes that it’ll never happen and grows in that moment. Tatsu using her transformation as a symbolic showing of cutting her hair. This represents her freeing herself from her past obsession and gaining her own independence from him. When she rejoins him at his side moments later it’s no longer in her powered form but as a peer and friend walking along side him. A lot of show don’t tell with this one

My goat still got it ❤️‍🩹
