Cassandra Clare’s Romance…

As someone who is new to these books, I’ve finished TMI Part 1 and I’m currently about 50% through Clockwork Prince. At this point, I’m starting to think Cassandra Clare just isn’t that great at writing romance. In TMI, I felt like the romance between Jace and Clary was way too forced, and I’m getting a similar feeling from Will and Tessa. So far, I’ve actually enjoyed the scenes between Jem and Tessa much more.

A lot of the romances in these books feel rushed to me. Honestly, the pacing of the books in general can feel rushed, with one major thing happening after another without much time to breathe. I think TID handles its pacing better than TMI, even though I understand that the constant momentum in TMI is partly necessary for the plot. But I think that same pacing hurts the romance because the relationships don’t always have enough time to develop naturally.

With Jace and Clary, for example, it felt like they met and almost immediately became madly in love with each other, to the point that they were willing to contemplate an incestuous relationship within less than a month of meeting. That level of intensity just didn’t feel earned to me.

When Jem and Tessa get intimate in Chapter 9 of Clockwork Prince, I actually felt like there was much more buildup leading to that moment. Their friendship and emotional connection had been developing throughout the book, so it didn’t feel as random as some of the kissing scenes between Will and Tessa.

There’s still half of Clockwork Prince and another entire book left, so obviously my opinion could change. But so far, I find Will and Tessa’s dynamic pretty boring, especially because Will treats Tessa so poorly. Even if his behavior is explained by his belief that he’s cursed, that doesn’t necessarily make their romantic chemistry more interesting to me. A lot of the attraction also seems to come down to the fact that Will is extremely good-looking, which is interesting considering that even Tessa questions his pretty privilege.

I was Team Simon in TMI, and now I’m Team Jem in TID, so I’m starting to think my ships are destined to never be endgame.

Why does Los Angeles seem to be used less often as a setting for urban fantasy?

I feel like when it comes to urban fantasy set in America, when the story isn’t set in some random small town, New York is usually the default.

What’s interesting about LA is that when people talk about “Los Angeles,” they’re often talking about the broader LA area or even LA County rather than the actual City of Los Angeles. Maybe that is why? It’s just too many smaller neighborhoods and cities around. You have mountains, deserts, beaches, and forests all in close proximity, but I’m yet to read something set here.

I think Bright is the only thing I seen but that’s a movie.

In the order hand you got massive YA fantasies set in New York like ShadowHunter and Percy Jackson.

I have nobody to talk about this

Okay, but why does Clary go along with Simon’s whole girlfriend thing? Like, he didn’t actually ask her out or anything. He just kind of claimed that she was his girlfriend, and she went along with it. She even let him kiss her and everything. I’m talking about City of Ashes, btw.

I’m new to the series, but with a series this famous, you’re bound to get spoiled even if you don’t know the context. So I already know about the whole Jace and Clary situation

And honestly, I kind of get why she went along with it for the rebound, but I don’t understand how she became so infatuated with Jace, almost to the point of obsession, after only knowing him for a week or so. Then she finds out he’s supposedly her long-lost brother but she continues to romantic thoughts of embracing him.

[Mobile][2014-2016] it was an IPad Minecraft Knockoff

From what I remember there was a tab where players could post their maps and other players could download them to play on

There was also guns and there was pyramid block that you could use

I’m not sure it there was any survival I only remember playing creative on my cousin’s iPad before we got Minecraft

I don’t know if I’m remembering correctly but I believe the skins were slight elongated from the standard Minecraft skins but you were also able to do the custom skin look like the emo looking ones that were popular on Java edition.

For those wondering for season 2 release

If everything goes right and Sterling Point gets a Season 2 greenlight, I think the fastest realistic release window would be late 2027 to early 2028 release.

Personally, though, I’m leaning more toward mid-2028.

If we take a look at other prime productions in the same genre:

The Summer I Turned Pretty. Seasons 1 and 2 were released about 13 months apart.

We Were Liars. Season 2 is currently filming from around June through October 2026, and it likely won’t be released until next year probably also a late summer release.

Worst-case scenario, it could take closer to two years. Since Sterling Point relies on on-location filming in Muskoka, the production would have a limited shooting window, Due to the weather in Muskoka.

Season 2, Timeline and setting?

I’m thinking Season 2 will span an entire year rather than taking place over just the next summer.

Timeline-wise, that makes more sense to me because Connor already has the biological mom storyline in motion, and I don’t see him putting that on hold for a whole year after she agreed to be contacted.

I could see the first half of the season splitting pretty evenly between NYC and Muskoka, while also giving us a time skip of a few months to see how Annie and Ramona’s whole The Parent Trap storyline is going and what their lives look like after everything that happened.

the island sale is on hold for a year, putting it around the next summer. So maybe the season builds toward the sale happening around the midpoint, with the second half focusing on the fallout and eventual resolution and any other open ended storyline for a season 3.

I’d also add Oona’s family drama as a potential storyline. I saw a clip of an interview where the director mentioned that she already had a storyline planned for Oona but couldn’t incorporate it because of episode and time constraints, so they ended up skipping it. If Season 2 has more room to explore the characters, that could easily become another plot point.

Rory’s storyline could also continue, especially with the mystery around why he really lied about not being able to play the piano. And if he’s back for Season 2, I could see them continuing the relationship triangle between Annie, Ellis, and him rather than dropping it completely. He has a high chance of returning considering his mom is the one trying to buy Sterling Point.

Connor-Sully situation friendship thing might come to the front. I don’t know but there was something there?

Obviously a Oona and Ramona have their own relationship that will have to be addressed.

Ellis family dynamic, potential divorce, Ellis moving away from Sterling Point to be with his mom if divorce did happened? Joe was never really on the known after the real dad was revealed, I wanted to see his and Ellis reaction of things but that was skipped over.

Is it a lost cause, or could it just need the screen components replaced?

I was out DoorDashing when it started raining during my last delivery, and my phone got wet. I didn't think much of it at the time since it still seemed to be working fine.

After I got home, the screen started acting up; it stopped responding to swipe-ups and got laggy when I tapped on things. I restarted it, assuming it was just glitching. The issues eased up a bit but didn't fully go away. But I opened Instagram to watch reels. It worked okay for a while, until the screen suddenly turned a greenish-cyan color and froze on whatever I was watching (you can kind of make it out in the picture). The audio cut out too.

I immediately tried to force-restart it, but accidentally triggered the emergency alarm instead. I eventually got the force restart to work, but the screen stayed frozen in that same state.

Push notifications seem to still be coming through, since I can see the backlight flashing occasionally. I emailed myself as a test, and it made a sound. But Siri doesn't respond with any sound, and calls don't ring or flash when I call myself. The screenshot sound doesn't work either.

It's Sunday evening after 5 PM, so everywhere is closed and I can't get it looked at until tomorrow morning.

Sprites won’t extract?

Currently there is a sort of delay from last kill until Victory Royale is display.

In this time you can equip and move, but why won’t sprites get extracted. It happened to me twice that I killed last player wearing Vinny Jr sprite and it says extracted but I don’t get it unlock. It doesn’t add to the collection.

At first I thought that it was delayed for this exact thing so you could equip a sprite or something but I guess not

Baby name Arceus - Kids with Pokemon names

Today I met a toddler named Arceus. It stood up because it was obvious to me that the name is a Pokemon.

I obviously made the comment about Pokemon and they told me that they had no idea it was a Pokemon and found the name in one of those baby name website and they liked it because of the supposed meaning it had. It was only until one of their family members pointed it out hours after the birth that there was a Pokemon with that name.

By that time it was already too late to change the name and they had grown to like the name so they kept it, but there is apparently always someone that points it out to them, I wonder how tired they are of being asked about lol.

We are entering a generation when we will see kids name after popular pokemons.

I’m PIMO - I participate culturally and socially, but not devotionally

I hold no faith for any religion on Earth to this day, but I have never claim that any religion on Earth is true or false, I think that for that to have happened I need to have knowledge beyond human capacity for it to be true to me.

Yet while I say these things I’m an active LDS church goer, and is not because I hold loyalty to the institution of the church or believe anything they teach.

The true is that if my family and friends left the ward I attended to I probably wouldn’t go. I have an attachment to people that attend my ward, but I don’t do as a duty to them either, I never felt the necessity to leave the church like people who lose faith often times do. I wouldn’t say I’m pressured to attend either because I see my family and friends outside of it too.

It just something like a routine that I have developed over time and I have no reason to do end because I have nothing else to do, besides while I may not believe in it, I think the Book of Mormon is enjoyable maybe because I spent so much time with it, but I always been specially interested in religions so I never shy away from learning something, call it autism.

I’m in church, I’m willing to participate in the community, but I avoid participating in spiritual roles, I won’t lead a prayer or have involvement with priesthood activities. I don’t know but in a way it feels like I’m violating their spirituality, If this is sacred to people, It would be dishonest and kind of invasive. I don’t feel I have the right to spiritually represent something I’m uncertain about.

I don’t know if one day I may leave the church but more the time being, I’m happy there.

Color magic? WIP - Help with possible method of use.

Lumenite

Lumenite is a naturally occurring crystalline mineral found in inert, visually unremarkable deposits. In its raw form, it exhibits no observable magical properties and is often classified as common stone.

Activation Condition

Lumenite becomes functionally active only after basic lapidary refinement.

Once shaped and finished, the crystal gains its defining property: photo-reactivity.

Photo-Reactivity

Refined Lumenite responds to exposure to light and it begins a multi-stage process.

1. Initial Exposure

When Lumenite is exposed to a light source:
-The crystal begins to subtly shift in color
-This change is gradual and visible

2. Development Phase and Saturation

As exposure continues:
-The crystal’s color continues to deepen and stabilize
-The visible color becomes increasingly uniform

Saturation occurs when:
-The crystal becomes a fully uniform, solid color
-No further visible change in color occurs under the same light conditions

3. Colorum Secretion

After saturation is reached:
-Lumenite begins to slowly secrete a color luminescence liquid
**-**Output continues until it reaches deadlock, there is a point where the production of this liquid stops, and no further changes can be seen.

Humans have name this Liquid, Colorum

Properties
-Stable once formed
-Does not change after secretion
-Exists independently of Lumenite
-Emits a faint glow matching its formation state
-Can be stored, transported, or applied
-immiscible

Consistency Rule

Colorum consistency/viscosity is determined by:
-Light source type
-Light conditions during exposure and saturation

Natural sunlight produces varying levels of viscosity depending on whether it is daytime or nighttime. At night, sunlight is reflected off the moon, making it far less direct than during the day, which results in significantly different outcomes. The same principle applies to other light sources as well.

consistency = application constraints

Each Colorum type corresponds to a dominant region of the visible light spectrum, expressed as behavioral energy states:

Red-spectrum Colorum produces high energy release states, generating force, pressure, and rapid displacement of matter

Orange-spectrum Colorum produces sustained expansion and kinetic propagation

Yellow-spectrum Colorum enhances transfer and propagation of energy or signals across distance

Green-spectrum Colorum stabilizes structured systems, promoting controlled growth and repair

Blue-spectrum Colorum regulates and suppresses motion, enforcing balance and restraint in energy systems

Indigo-spectrum Colorum alters interaction pathways, shifting how energy and matter connect

Violet-spectrum Colorum introduces deviation states, bending rules of interaction and perception

———

(What each spectrum does is not set in stone yet, it may or may not change)

At this stage, I have several ideas for how Colorum can be used in terms of its effects on the world.

Layering different colors produces more complex “spells,” but the colors themselves are not mixable substances

What I have not yet defined is how a user actually selects what a color does within its spectrum, since each spectrum represents a behavioral family rather than a single fixed effect.

I want it to be a single method for activation as well something like “the colorum is inert until this is done” but it cannot be activated before this is done because there is no selected effect.

How does a user “tell” Colorum what to become without relying on abstract intent? Shapes was an idea but now I think of, why can this shape tells this substance what to do?

Origins of magic circle?

I like the magic system overall.

As far as I understand it, ink is made by boiling silver wood. Up to that point, it feels very grounded and natural, like something humans could realistically have discovered on their own.

Where it starts to feel less intuitive for me is the next step: using that ink to draw glyphs in a specific pattern and enclosing them in a circle. I guess what I’m trying to understand is whether the glyph shapes are inherently fixed or if they’re more like a shared language that represents intent.

For example, why is the fire sigil a triangle with three lines? Does that shape have an intrinsic meaning in the system, or is it just a convention that everyone agrees represents fire?

What caused magic to function according to these specific rules and symbols?

The manga being monthly also makes it harder for the author to go into deep details, but so far, the magic system has been carefully built up, and it's like one of the central elements of the story, so I’m really curious if it will eventually be fully explained.

In other stories, glyphs often act like a kind of divine language or the underlying code of the world’s origin, which makes me wonder whether this system is heading in that same direction.
