Haven't been blogging much lately, but today I looked at something I noticed with at least some of my players: Although we love the idea of open sandboxes, sometimes players get stuck on that freedom. So, I think about that and share my ramblings on how to overcome this issue, also pointing about five modules that I think did very well in what I recommend here. Enjoy and let me know what you think

I rolled for Prismatic Wasteland’s Randomness blogwagon, loudly announced I would join, missed the deadline, and then wrote the article anyway. Which honestly fits the topic.
Randomness is wonderful. Randomness is useful. Randomness also gets in the way sometimes. So the post became about dice: The Dice Are Your Friends.

Hey guys, we've today published our supplement digital Solo Storm which offers procedures, guidelines, and tips to run our Pirate Borg campaign Ravaged by Storms full solo, without reading the whole module beforehand. The supplement also freatures the OAR procedure from Captain & Crew, republished with friendly permission by M. Allen Hall. If you have backed or pre-orderd the campaign, you have received the solo supplement via BackerKit. Purchases of the campaign module on DriveThruRPG or itch.io also contain the solo supplement without any further cost.
Too much detail can kill a session. So, I wrote a post about running adventures with a bit more ease.
It touches on a lot of things that come up in OSR play: prep, randomness, pacing, player agency. Over-prepping, over-describing, over-relying on systems… all of that can get in the way.
What works better (for me, at least) is much simpler: keep things moving, react to what’s happening, and trust the table. Full post above. Happy to discuss here.
