SXM to St Barts ferry reliability question.

I wish to visit St Bats from Canada (Toronto). There are no direct flights to. But I know there are ferries from SXM to St Barts. I plan on flying into SXM (there is a direct flight from Toronto) and taking the ferry on the day of arrival into SXM.

On my day of leaving back to Canada, I plan on taking the ferry from St Barts to SXM and arrive at SXM a few hours before my flight leaves to Canada.

How risky is this? How often does that ferry get cancelled? I understand extreme weather will cause cancellations but how often is that? My travel time window is between September-October if that matters.

Is Kepone contamination still a concern?

I visited Martinique last year and had a very great time. This is the greenest place I have ever seen. Before my flight to, I had read about the Kepone contamination scandal. From what I am reading online, the use of Kepone ended in 1993 but there are still concerns about soil and water contamination. I never asked the islanders about this but wanted to ask them. I never asked largely because I thought it would be insensitive to ask.

Is Kepone contamination still a concern on the island?

Recommend an experience during my next visit

I visited SXM last year and it was my first Caribbean island experience and i was awe struck

I could only stay for a few days and I came unprepared.

I did the basics, like experience jet blast at maho beach at Maho beach, go to pinel island, i visited the coco beach club one day and drove around the island for many hours.

I am going to visit SXM again later this year and want to experience the finer things, for example, a farm stay, or a stay at one of the higher elevation areas with good views of the sea, or maybe there is something on an island i must go see.

My next visit, I plan to focus on one thing and enjoy it more fully over a few days. What are your recommendations?

Who planted the corn poppies on the embankment on DVP-Eglonton

A few weeks ago, while driving northbound on the DVP, near the Eglinton crossing, the steep embankment on the right had red corn poppies in bloom. These are the poppies popularized by the John McCrae World war 1 poem. Who planted these and why? I thought they looked beautiful but the blooms are gone now. I don't think those poppies got there by accident.

Just curious

Unsafe practices from window washers, should I report?

I live jn a downtown condo. From my floor, I can see that on the adjacent condo building there are window washers and other contractors who walk on the building roof and on the ledges without safety attachments. They do sometimes walk around with the link attachment vests on but most of the time they are unattached.

They are literally a step away from either side of them to falling off.

Below them is a small balcony overhanging but it's somthing they'd miss if they say tripped over. They are about 14 storeys above ground.

This cannot possibly be accepted safety practice.

The guy once had his backpack on the edge, and he almost tripped over it.

And they don't seem careful around the ledge either, they make fast movements, bend over to adjust tools, about turn, all two or three steps from the edge

Should I be reporting this?

here a bum, there a bum, everywhere a bum bum

It's getting worse and the visibility of this issue is increasingly apparent.

Encountering homeless bums, high or not, is becoming more common every year. It wasn't lile this two years ago

I went to a Loblaws. On the way at an intersection are three homeless, one in the fenty fold position. Then at the Loblaws dining area, a Gandalf looking bum seated and cursing randomly. He catches eye contact with me and points his finger atcme and yells something. For my safety I just walk away. On the way out, a panhandler. Going back home another route, there is a bum every two blocks on Spadina.

On my regular walks through the Bay St tunnel, one or both ends are littered with trash left by bums, and there will be a pack of bums congreggated. Sometimes openly burning drugs, something I never saw in this tunnel two years ago

This city is going down and the signs are everywhere. Again, it wasn't like this two years ago, it's way worse now. And I fear it will get even way worse in the coming years.

Want to share standard wall outlet between LG unified Washtower and a Dyson stick vac charger. Is it safe

Like the title says. The dryer is a heat pump type and I believe the installation required only one wall outlet (standard 3 prong type found elsewhere in my condo)

The washtower is in a cubby and right next to it is a wall where I can attach my Dyson stick vacuums wall hanger attachment.

Can i safely use a wall outlet multiplier or an extension cord to power both the Dyson charger and the Washtower?

Why were fireworks being set off at the harbourfront an hour past midnight near the music park

Like why? Do people not have common sense? And did the people nearby subjected to the noise not have any common sense and call the police? And did the police not show up? Or maybe they did and the police did not show up anyway.

So many wrongs here on so many levels

So many loitering police officers when there are problems nearby

The traffic light at Dan Leckie and Lakeshore was malfunctioning today and entered safety mode (blinking red loghts on all light, first stop first go rule in effect). This is a busy road and it was chaotic. It must have been due to the storm last night.

No TPS constable at the intersection helping though. Frustrated drivers were making mistakes, people just shooting through the intersection, pedestrians confused, near collissions happening.

A mere block away were 3 TPS officers standing in front of Norway park just chilling. Another block away was a parked TPS car with the officer leaned back down doing something on his phone. Another block east on Queens Quay were three officers also chilling sipping their coffee. Three "Special Constables" emerge like Pokemons from another intersection all chill and socializing.

Make it make sense. Why are there so many officers chilling and passing time when there is an obvious work item.

Shittification of the open sky by skybanners

Saw a little Cessna plane flying around downtown's skies today towing a banner for Door Dash advertising a discount on the Dashpass. Like brand f off. No I'm not a communist but I'd hate to see the skies shittified with this kind of corporate trash.

Keep our skies clean. No commercial crap. No one wants to hear a cessna with poor exhaust muffling buzzing around at higher rpm so it can tow a banner

so many trashy drivers on the DVP

southbound is like a racetrack and a lot of rude drivers who drive 150 kmph, swerve in and out without shoulder checking their blindspots, tailgating, flashing their high beams to make you go faster even if you're going 10 above the limit on the right most lane.

The worst are the ones who speed and zoom inches by you; I'd hate to get clipped on the DVP going 90.

Dreadful driving. And it's almost always these beater cars with fart cans driven by guys who think the world looks at them like theyre Paul Walkers character in fast and furious, or some low end older model German sedan with lighting and exhaust mods. I dont see the Porsche 911's or the new Merc/BMW drivers do this

Such stupid driving and there are no cops to do anything about it

Will the TPS ever do anything about this?

Tinted windows

I've lived in several parts of Canada and window tints seem to be extremely popular here in Ontario, particulary in the GTA. The issue I have with these is ppl here already drive like sht. The tints make them even shittier drivers because they cant see for shit theough those tints. Yes Im aware they appear darker from the outside, but still, for a city where ppl cant drive worth sht, the last thing needed is something that impairs visibility and makes them even shittier drivers

Transiemts smoking crack blocking the footpath of Bay st tunnel

Anyone else see this today in Bay st tunnel's south end near where it opens up to Union station on the right? There were maybe 10 transients in really bad looking shape camping on the footpath with about two feet of space left for people to walk through.

About three of them were lighting glass crackpipes. The smell, OMG, it was the first time I had been exposed to crack fumes and it was cringe.

They were almost phased out but weren't harassing people from what I could tell of others passing through.

And it's the Fifa opener day and the world is around this area.

This is depressing. And that tunnel often has some strange stuff happening. I remember a few years ago a phased out transient had a toilet there and was sitting on it and farting loudly making it echo through the tunnel.

What has happened to Toronto? Good grief.

Daylight hours in Grenada end of June

Im thinking of visiting Grenada end of June. What are daylight hours like at that time of year? When does it get datk (to the point that it makes no sense to go out sightseeing)?

I ask this because I know on many smaller caribbean islands that there isn't much to do after dark. I suspect Grenada is one such place

And when I travel to such islands I like to make sure that when I go there is plenty of time for sight seeing

Loud motor vehicles are a nuisance

If you live downtown I'm sure you've cursed at a loud motor vehicle. Be it a loud motorcycle or a modified car with one of those loud exhausts

Why must an entire neighbourhood of 2000 people living in close quarters be subjected to such noise?

If we let this go out of control, the ambiance of Toronto is going to be polluted with annoying noise

I'm not against ppl driving high performance cars, the stock sports cars that are actually fast like the 911 or bmw's or lambos arent the ones that are obnoxious, it's the ones driving the civics or infinitys or beat up old vehicles that are assaulting the ears of entire neighbourhoods

Just a rant. Im sure others living downtown have shaken their fists in the air at these noise makers
