Quitting after 5 days…

I received a grad scheme offer after starting a 6 month FTC payments job and have only been here since Monday. I have never been in this situation but i will need to let my manager know that I am quitting already which is very inconvenient but i have to take that grad scheme offer obviously. Thankfully this week i have just been basically doing onboarding stuff however notice is 1 month but no chance im staying past tomorrow. Should i just straight up let my manager know tomorrow as I don’t plan to return after tomorrow and hand in my IT equipment on monday. Thoughts?

Finance graduate offer dilemma

I got offered a position for a finance graduate role where it’s a 2 year structured programme with career progression. I will be joining the AP team having already done a year in AP/AR during my placement year at university. I really thought they’d offer ACCA study support but they called and said they don’t, as of yet I think anyway. As someone on 9 exemptions, I was really hopefully I would get some support to finish off. Currently working a banking and payments assistant job which is a 6 month FTC which I started 2 days ago, I should leave right? What should I do?

What was your pathway into becoming a qualified/chartered accountant?

Just curious to know how your journey was, first accounting job and how you progressed. Just graduated in Accounting & Finance with placement and just want some inspiration.

how many interviews/assessments did you do before getting a grad scheme/role?

I have done 5 AC’s and 5-7 final stage interviews and still nothing I am searching for. I understand my numbers may be rookie😅! How many did you do and what role was it for?

Beginning Accounting Career - thoughts?

Just graduated in Accounting & Finance with placement (finance assistant) and managed to get a banking & payments assistant role where I will working a lot with the accounts payable/receivables team. As someone who has 9 exemptions for the ACCA qualification, would this be a good idea to take it and then get started on my last 4 papers? However this role is a 6 month FTC initially but could be extended, and who knows, maybe progress higher? What are your thoughts? I would have loved an accounts assistant/trainee accountant role but its better to just start from somewhere right?

is this normal of my older brother

My older brother (24M) keeps asking me for money (22M) and works full time as a software developer whilst I am still a student. Bearing in mind we don’t even talk to each other but only speaks to me when he needs money. He went on holiday the other week and asked for a few hundred… Still hasn’t paid me back and just asked for a couple for pounds just then. He literally avoids me at all costs except when he needs something for me. He even skipped my graduation but yesterday attended his friends. I have lent him money several times, always uses my things and doesn’t even say thank you half of the time. What do I do?

Relationship with older brother

I (22 M) feel like my older brother (24 M) avoids me at all costs and I actually don’t know why. Whenever we see each other in the house, we just walk past and that’s pretty much it. I am fine with all my younger siblings except him. The only time he talks to me is to ask for money, bearing in mind he has a full time job and I am still a student. There has been times I even didnt bother asking for the money back but it’s getting a bit ridiculous now. He went on holiday last week and kept asking me for money, most of the times he doesn’t even say thank you. I wish it wasn’t this way but he’s just always locked up in his room and cares for his friends only. Not sure anymore. He always uses and borrows my things but you can tell he hates me or something.

This job market is hell

Just graduated with an accounting and finance degree with a placement year (finance assistant) and can’t seem to get anything from graduate schemes to entry level accounting jobs. Since starting of final year, I must have applied to over 300+ jobs, so tough😭…

Dilemma: Sales Ledger Clerk or potential Assistant Accountant? I am stuck seriously

So I have just graduated in accounting & finance and did a placement year as a finance assistant (mainly purchase ledger clerk) but I got an offer today for a sales ledger clerk (£25k) however I have progressed to a 2nd stage face-to-face interview for an assistant accountant role which is what I much prefer with the salary going to be £25k-£30k depending on experience but I much prefer what I would be doing as this is more advanced that sales ledger clerk. I really have a good feeling I can get the assistant accountant role too with ACCA study support but nothing is guaranteed😬 Or is it silly accepting the offer then if I do get it, leave shortly after starting? Not sure…

Is the actual accounting job hard in itself compared to an accounting & finance degree or ACCA for example?

just wanted to know if the job is much more complex/difficult than the theory?

Sales Ledger Clerk role out of university? Right move?

Just graduated in accounting and finance with a placement year (finance assistant- mainly in purchase ledger) and been applying to all sorts of graduate jobs, trainee accountant roles, graduate audit roles etc. but it is so competitive and tough. However, I may be able to get a sales ledger clerk role and thinking of just taking it instead of waiting and keep getting let down by the assistant accountant roles and grad schemes. Do you think this is a the right choice? I really want to finish the last 4 ACCA papers ASAP as I get 9 exemptions. Or is it worth taking the sales ledger role and continue applying? It’s so tough😂!

Sales Ledger Clerk Progression

So I just finished my accounting & finance degree and did a placement (finance assistant - purchase ledger). Now I am about to get a role in sales ledger clerk and wanted to know whats the best progression/pathway to become an accountant? I am eager to start my ACCA as soon as possible especially as I get 9 exemptions from my degree. Did anyone do accounting clerk roles post uni and if so how did the journey go and where are you now?

Graduate accounting roles or junior finance system analyst roles?

I am a soon to be accounting and finance graduate with a year experience as an accounts assistant for placement. As someone who now wants to work and do ACCA at the same time, what would you recommend? I do not particularly mind which roles but the finance system analyst role looks different and interesting especially with a combination of tech/IT?
