Reprinting Special Editions - is it fair to collectors or does it defeat the purpose of exclusivity?
With collecting special edition books, there are always some people who want books they missed out on to be reprinted - is this fair to people who bought the first printing? Does it defeat the purpose of special edition books and the exclusivity and rarity of them? Or do you think reprinting is fair because they aren’t the first printing so it’s seen as different, etc?
What are your thoughts on reprints? Are you for or against them and why?
Just a discussion question I thought would be interesting to discuss with some things I’ve been seeing on other pages lately 😅 let us know your thoughts!
SciFi Saturday - Folio Society Klara and the Sun
This week's pick for sci-fi Saturday is the Folio Society edition of Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro.
Kazuo Ishiguro's books are such interesting genre bending sci fi literary fiction mixes. The theme work in Ishiguro's books are the star of the show and Klara and the Sun is a book that really gets better with time, as you think more about what this book was trying to say.
I really enjoyed the overall concept and questions Ishiguro presents us with, but I think this should have been a bit shorter so everything could hit harder. The first 50% was so strong and I was really engaged, but around the 65-70% mark it just felt like the story was dragging on and I think this would have been stronger if it was shorter.
I found the characters and concept really fascinating, Klara and the Sun presents us questions on what it really means to be human and I continue to look forward to reading more from Ishiguro as he forces you to confront questions you may not have thought of before. While this isn't my favorite Ishiguro novel, it's one of the most thought provoking I've read so far and I definitely recommend people to check this one out! Plus this Folio Society edition is so pretty 😍
Has anyone read Ishiguro before or are you adding his books to your TBR? Let us know in the comments and if you have any similar recs, drop them below!

Mod Rec Monday - Our Favorite Dust Jackets
This week's theme for Mod Rec Monday is *in stock/preorder* books that have some of our favorite dust jacket designs!
u/ancient_activity_614
- Grim Oak Press - The Summer Dragon
- I wish I had something profound to say. I do not. I just freaking love dragons lmao tbh I'm not even sure if this is the final art for the dust jacket or if this is a placeholder, but I'm actually so convinced that even if it's not, that I will love it
- Second point - I. LOVE. DRAGONS. and Grim Oak Press lol
- The simplicity, the color way, and the style are just something that calls out to me. I prefer a more simplistic or minimalistic design when it's done right and I'm loving this so let's cross our fingers this is the final design. If anyone knows, feel free to tell me in the comments and make my week lol
- Illumicrate - Farseer trilogy
- UK link / US link
- Realm of the Elderlings is one of the greatest series of all time so if you haven't started it, please start it now lmao the character work is truly unmatched, you'll find no one better than Robin Hobb.
- I love the artwork of these editions as a whole, from the dust jacket to naked hardcover to end papers to sprayed edges. But the dust jackets capture the energy of Buckkeep so well and I just love the style of art for these books.
- This is currently on preorder, closing at the end of the month. We have a post with all the details on our page that you can search for if you need the details!
- EDIT: they just announce Liveship traders! The post is on our page!

- When the Moon Hatched deluxe edition
- The art on this dust jacket is from the same artist who did all the chapter artwork in the books (Alice Cao). When I found out we were getting this edition, I was SO excited because I really love the interior art.
- What I also love about this edition is that even though it’s a deluxe edition, it’s still so widely available so everyone has the chance to buy it and not get completely scalped by resellers. Now is the perfect time to buy this one too if you haven’t already, because it will give you time to read it ready for the sequel, The Ballad of Falling Dragons, which is being released on May 19th!
- Wraithmarked - Blood Over Bright Haven and Sword of Kaigen
- BOBH was my top read of 2025 and I knew before I even read it that it would be, which is why I ordered this Wraithmarked edition last April even though I didn’t read it until a month after. I was even more excited that I had the option to add on The Sword of Kaigen which was also one of my top reads of 2025, and the main reason I knew I would love BOBH.
- This is probably the longest I’ve waited for a special edition, but when I see the regular updates in my emails from Bryce, I just know it’s going to be worth it. The attention to detail, design, quality, everything that’s going into this project is on a whole other level, and I’m super excited for the day I’ll finally have these books in my (probably gloved) hands!
If there are any specific themes you want to see from mod rec Monday, let us know in the comments! We have plans to do favorite naked hardcover, favorite edges, etc so those are all on the way. But if you have anything you're curious about in terms of our favorites or our takes, we'd love to hear it! And if we influenced you in any way, let us know too lol
SciFi Saturday - TBB Dark Matter
Our Sci-fi Saturday pick is TBB Dark Matter by Blake Crouch
I read this years ago and absolutely loved it! Blake Crouch has fast paced, twisty, brain breaking plots that are so much fun and exactly what I personally look for in the sci-fi thriller genre. I will say I don't think he has the strongest character work, so I you absolutely need that in every genre this may not hit as hard for you. But if you're a plot driven reader or you're ok with less of a focus on characters in the sci-fi thriller space, definitely check this one out! I also think his books in general are great places to start for thriller readers to get into the sci-fi genre and try out something that is multi genre to ease them into their path to sci-fi/fantasy conversion lmao
While I think the original DM cover is fine (minus the ones with the Apple TV sticker that isn't removable lol), I definitely prefer TBB deluxe version!
*Also if you saw our first sci-fi Saturday post earlier today, we ended up taking it down after we realized there were concerns about the company and we looked into it. Thanks for letting us know and we definitely do want to know those things as we don't want to highlight companies that may have serious issues for all of us as readers and consumers. While we want to bring you all the news about SEs, we would never want to rec something that may cause issues for y'all as consumers.*
