I'm looking to buy a monitor for PC gaming. I'll only use this monitor for gaming (no competitive gaming like fps/shooters).
My big question is: Strictly for gaming, what are the pros and cons of a flat panel vs an ultrawide?
My resolution will be 1440p and the panel size will be 32" to 38", with a display ratio of 21:9 if going for the ultrawide.
I'm open to all advice and personal experiences.

I'm on the market for an Ultrawide OLED (or a variation of OLED) 1440p monitor to pair with my laptop. Curved would be good as well but not sure if possible The main reason I want it to be 1440p and not 4K, is that I want my laptop to be able to provide good performance for 4-5 years. But I can be persuaded otherwise, if you think my specs are good enough to survive through the current hell of a market we are living in.
For the foreseeable future, I will mainly use it with a laptop with these specs:
AMD Ryzen™ 9 9955HX3D (2,50 GHz to 5,40 GHz) (laptop CPU)
NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 5080 16GB GDDR7 (laptop GPU)
64 GB DDR5-5.600MT/s (SODIMM) - (2 x 32 GB)
2 TB SSD M.2 2280 PCIe Gen5
I don't play FPS competitive games, I think that's important to mention.
