I went way too long without getting new glass's. I am diabetic and 51. In February on 2022 I got seen my a local office of a national chain. My script they have on record from that visit was as follows.

Right Eye Sphere -2.00 / Cyc -0.50 / Axis 118 ADD 1.75

Left Eve Sphere -2.00 / Cyc -0.50 / Axis 080 ADD 1.75

At that time they told me I really did not need progressives, or bifocals because the difference between them was so small I would not need to spend the extra money. So I went with single vision glass.

3 weeks ago I finally go get an appointment after noticing one my glass's were falling apart and my eyes were tired at the end of the day. I also have a hard time using my laptop, and have to take my glass's off for reading up close now. Books to small print on bottles and such.

I felt rushed through the exam my eyes were tired and felt strained. but everything was fine they said. No signs of diabetic issues, etc. But according to him my script had "changed a lot."

New Script

Right Eye. Sphere -2.75 / Cyc - 0.25 / Axis 145 / Add 2.00

Left Eye. Sphere - 2.25 / Cyc - 0.50 / Axis 089 / Add 2.00

I was told progressives would be the perfect choice and was upsold to the best lens, and bill was 1200 bucks. Was not told about the narrow field of view, or the point your nose in the direction thing. YIKES. But for perfect day to day and using my computer it would be a promised life changer. Got them last Wednesday. The distance view was great but I could not see anything 3 ft to either side, couldn't read my dash board, etc. Went back the next day. They discovered that they were rotated 20 degrees off center, and the ADD was same as my distance. Because I scan with my eyes the manager said I need to go back to single vision and it would be best to get cheap readers for using my computer and reading. I tried a +2.00 first everything was blurry. even with my nose to the chart. Tried every strength and none work for both. With no glass's from 6- 14 inches away things are clear. But from 14-16 inches it drops off and anything beyond that is blurry.

Today my new redone single visions come in. Pick them up, notice up close is fuzzy, they said it is a physical adjustment and give my eyes time to adjust. Distance is great. Crisp and clean. Can not wear them for anything closer then 24-28 inches. I am right now using my old glasses, and a larger font size on my computer to type this. (16 inch MBP Pro) Its lightly fuzzy but better then no glass's or the new glass's. I am kinda upset. Did they screw up my test, or are they over looking something? Thanks for any input or advice.

51 years old and just just got progressive glass's. I had gotten used to looking under my old glass's to look at the screen . Got the glass's today and wow, the edge distortion is distracting. Just wondering if anyone had tips or ideas? Or is it a reteaching my eyes muscle memory? Thanks...

I had posted that my sister was sending me my 2005 IBook a couple weeks ago. Well it went missing while being shipped by UPS, it was found and I got it late yesterday and noticed the box was a bit beat up. My sister did pack it well. But….. the back light is no longer working. She did not put insurance on it. So I have it but it’s not usable. I tried resetting the PRAM and a few other things but only if you shine a bright light on it can you see the screen display. Kinda sucks. I might try to find a cheap replacement screen but not right now. Just disappointed ☹️

I have a 16” M5 Pro with 24gigs and my wife and son are big gamers (Mostly Fortnite wife is all ready at level 583 with a KD of 5.9.) I am not much of a gamer but I do like games that are exploration type games with no real rules but just exploring the world or wherever you are. Myst was a game I loved when I was younger. I also have very shitty hand eye coordination. So yeah any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I sold my fairly spec’d iBook I ordered in 2005 to my sister who wanted for homeschooling her kids. Ended up hardly using it and put it up in 2006. She found it yesterday going through some boxes after moving. She says it still works, and is in good shape. She shipped it this morning. I’m not sure what I will do with it. But it had the 1.33Mhz G4 chip, 1 gig of ram, and the 80gig HD if I recall correctly. But I am pretty happy about it. It was the first MacBook I bought myself. I will post pictures of it when I get it in a few days.
