Batting Positions (#1 to #11) Analyzed for IPL 2026 for each Team by Runs, Strike Rate, Boundaries

Wanted to see how is each team faring in batting at each of the batting positions from #1 to #11 and who is the strongest/weakest player at each position.

Few insights -

  1. Marsh & P Arya have dominated No.1 position while Rahane has been the weakest

  2. No. 2 is dominated totally by RR because of the 15 year old prodigy who leads in all 3 departments (runs, SR, boundaries). Gaikwad from CSK has performed the worst as expected at this position.

  3. Ishan Kishan and Klassen have been superb for SRH at #3 and #4 while Suryakumar and N Pooran have been disastrous. Patidar has been great for RCB.

  4. MI has experimented a lot with No. 5 and No. 6 but have been able to score good runs and boundaries between the likes of Pandya, Tilak, Rutherford and Will Jacks at those positions while Brevis, Tewatia have been poor

  5. Mukul Chowdhury has emerged as kinda the best No. 7 batsman while Ramandeep (KKR) and Shahrukh Khan (GT) failed the most to create impact

  6. Strike Rates of #6, #7 which are kind of finisher positions have been pretty underwhelming for most teams except for PBKS who has done well.

  7. Jamie Overton has done great at No. 8 for CSK.

  8. Bhuvi with most runs and boundaries at #9 (including the most important boundary maybe of this season, that six to Bawa).

Please share any other insights in the comments. Hope this was helpful ✌️ Who would be your IPL Playing XI or Top 7 basis this?

Mine would be

  1. Abhishek Sharma

  2. Vaibhav Suryavanshi

  3. Ishan Kishan (wk)

  4. R Patidar (could have kept Klassen but 4 overseas covered below)

  5. Tilak Verma

  6. Tim David (ov)

  7. Shashank Singh/Mukul (prefer Shashank as he can bowl)

  8. Krunal Pandya

  9. J Overton (ov)

  10. Bhuvi

  11. Hazlewood (ov)

  12. S Narine (ov)

KKR's Qualification Scenario (with & without NRR)

This is the Qualification scenario now for KKR.

All conditions in image. Just posting more details in case NRR comes to play here:

If PBKS wins by X runs, KKR needs to win by (X+51) runs or chase in (14.5 overs minus X/10).

For e.g. If PBKS wins by 20 runs, KKR needs to win by 71 runs or chase in 12.5 overs.

This is assuming first innings totals of 200 runs in both games (PBKS vs LSG and KKR vs DC).

Could change a run here or there and ball here or there if the totals are different.

Also, if PBKS instead chases vs LSG, then you can just consider 1 over = 10 runs above. For e.g. if PBKS chases in 19 overs vs LSG, then since they chased with 1 over left, you can consider runs margin = 10.

So, KKR needs to win by 61 runs or chase in 13.5 overs.

Bad luck guys but was a good run with last few non DC games

Many results did go DC's way to keep them in the hunt for so long than expected. Luck finally ran out today.

It is now practically impossible for DC 😅

(But just posting NRR scenario for the curious fans so that they stop wondering - Difference between RR and DC is 231 runs. So, RR's margin of defeat vs MI + DC's margin of win vs KKR needs to 231 runs. E.g. if RR loses to MI by 100 runs and DC beats KKR by 131 runs, only then can DC qualify).

This is realistically not feasible 😅 All the best for the next season!

Clearing the Air on our Top 2 Qualification

Hi guys, saw some posts around that can we somehow miss Top 2 so just wanted to clear the air around it.

For SRH to surpass our NRR, they will need to win against us by 87 runs or more. Let's say they win by 87 runs, then our NRR would drop from +1.06 to +0.64 and SRH will be more than +0.64 so they will be ahead of us.

However, for GT to then touch +0.64, they need to win their match against CSK by 76 runs as well.

So, if GT wins their match against CSK by 76 runs and SRH beats us by 87 runs, that is when we miss the Top 2.

or if we lose even heavily to SRH say by 110 runs, then margin of GT would come down from 76 runs further to say 53 runs. However, GT plays their match before us so they don't know the scenario, but we will do.

I really don't see this happening. So, don't worry.

Rajasthan Royals' NRR scenarios for Top 2

Post today's loss of CSK, RR again gets matter into their own hands i.e. if RR wins 2/2, they are guaranteed for qualifying Top 4 but let's see how can they qualify Top 2.

GT's NRR is currently 0.40 and SRH's NRR is 0.35 and RR's NRR is 0.03

  1. GT and SRH need to lose their respective games against CSK and RCB.

  2. Now assume that both these teams suffer the narrowest losses possible i.e. only by 1 run, GT's NRR will be +0.367 and SRH's will be lower than that so RR needs to surpass GT on NRR

  3. For RR to reach +0.367 from current of +0.027, they will need to win games against MI & LSG by a combined margin of 93 runs i.e. beat say MI by 40 runs and LSG by 53 runs or MI by 60 runs & LSG by 33 runs and so on.

However, if GT and SRH lose by larger margins, this margin of 93 runs for RR would come down accordingly.

It's Top 2, guys - What a win ❤️

Top 2 is sealed guys 💯❤️

Basis our better NRR, we would be Top 2 now for sure. What a great win today. Hazlewood was so so special at death.

Bhuvi with those initial wickets and then Rasikh dar taking Iyer's wicket.

Can finally watch last game of the season without any tension after so many years 😂

V Iyer - Special batting. After 12 balls 13, accelerated so so well. Should be permanent addition in our Playing XI when Patidar is back as well. Rajat and Iyer play together for MP a lot so would be good in that sense too ❤️

E sala cup namde ❤️❤️

Revised Top 2 Qualification Scenarios for RCB

Last few matches have been in favor of RCB. Posting revised Top 2 scenarios. We now with winning 1 game not just finish Top 2 but also top the table.

Heard it's been raining in Dharamshala and just for that, have also added wash out scenario.

Very strong chances of RCB qualifying Top 2 now. Hope we just win tomorrow's game and put a full stop to all these calculations that I unnecessarily keep doing 🥲

PBKS -Top 2 and Top 4 Qualification Scenarios

Here are the Top 4 (1st image) & Top 2 (2nd image) - All possible scenarios for PBKS.

Today's loss by CSK is a big boost to PBKS's chances.

Match on Match increase in DC's Playoff chances

I vividly remember 2024 season when RCB was down and out with less than 0.5% chance of Qualification and used to see that increase with every match.

Seeing the same with DC now.

Hope you guys qualify. All the best!

Qualification scenario:

a) CSK to lose both (vs SRH, GT)

b) RR to lose vs (MI, LSG)

c) PBKS to lose both (vs RCB, LSG)

d) DC to win both (vs RR, KKR)

Total of 8 more games needed to go right!

IPL 2026 - Top 2 & Top 4 Qualification Scenarios for all teams

Hi guys, all the teams now have 1,2 or 3 games remaining

Sharing Top 2 and Top 4 Qualification scenarios for all teams basis if they win 0/1/2/3 games (Please scroll the images to find your team's scenario).

Reason why I did this is also that Star Sports showed qualification scenarios for some teams which felt incomplete to me. For e.g. for KKR, they just said SRH and PBKS should lose all games whereas that's not true as one of RR and CSK also need to. So, have tried covering every possible scenario here.

Please comment if this is helpful or if you find any error. All the best to all the fans!

Few obvious things:

a) KKR and DC cannot qualify Top 2 so they are not in the Top 2 images

b) MI & LSG cannot qualify Top 4 so they are not in the Top 2/Top 4 images.

IPL 2026 Top 4 Qualification Scenarios for All 8 Teams

It’s that part of the IPL season where fans start opening calculators more than Cricbuzz :)

Every team’s fanbase - no matter how tiny the chances are, still believes and honestly that’s what makes this phase of the tournament so much fun.

Saw Star Sports showed qualification scenarios yesterday, but a few felt incomplete, so I tried making a proper one covering all 8 teams and every major scenario based on the remaining fixtures.

Tried keeping it as accurate and simple as possible. If I’ve missed anything or made any mistake somewhere, do mention please.

All the best to every fanbase for the final few games. Chaos part of this season is officially here 🏏 Will post Top 2 similarly later in the day.

Revised RCB Top 2 Qualification Scenarios

What a great result today with Punjab dropping another game. Great batting by Tilak and Jacks - Would have been over much before if they sent Jacks ahead of Rutherford.

Anyway, coming to the topic, Top 2 is very simple for us, just need to win 1 game to confirm.

But still posting overall scenarios.

Which case do you think would happen?

IPL 2025 & 2026: 2X2 visual of Batting Run Rates & Bowling Economies

For IPL season 2026 and 2025, tried plotting Batting Run Rates of teams vs their bowling economies in a 2 by 2 visualization (on PowerPoint by myself to maintain accuracy rather than using AI) and there are interesting insights -

Season 2026 observations:

  1. Table Topper RCB is the only team in the top right quadrant showcasing their prowess in both batting & bowling

  2. Team which had the best batting run rate but not so good bowling economy is PBKS and is on #4 . Shows that Batting has become a very important aspect of the modern game and scoring high totals can sometimes save your poor bowling

  3. Bowling still matters a lot i.e. if you have exceptional bowling, even low batting run rates can help you lead the pack which is what GT's position in the chart (top left) and table (#2) shows.

Interesting to see that in 2025 as well, RCB is the only team to feature in the Top Right quadrant while PBKS and GT just about miss it. MI's bowling was quite superior in 2025 which helped their cause to finish at #3.

Also, no team had a Runrate of more than 10 in 2025 while there are 3 teams in 2026 which have more than 10.

Please share your observations/feedback.

RCB's All Possible Top 2 Qualification Scenarios

Congratulations guys on another great win today! What a chase by the chasemaster. Puts us in such a lovely spot now for Top 2.

Just one more win would be mostly enough (Guaranteed if PBKS loses against MI tomorrow).

Check the scenarios in the image:

So, if we win against PBKS, our Top 2 is guaranteed.

Edit: In Case 1, there is a small mistake in the picture as GT can reach 20 pts and top the table but we would be No. 2 so Top 2 is guaranteed.
