Cartridge connector
M64 Cart Connector
GOOD: Seems WAAAY more reliable than the one in my Analogue 3D. I've only had to reseat the game a couple times ever.
Bad: It appears to be permanently attached to the main PCB; not designed to be modular and replaceable.
I read the iFixIt teardown. They disassemble the eject mechanism and door flaps but there is no mention of removing the cartridge connector.
This part of the console gets mechanical wear and can also be damaged by a small object getting accidentally smashed into the contacts.
Analogue 3D -has a sub-board that can be removed or swapped.
Analogue Nt mini -the same, I believe.
RetroUSB AVS -allows you to swap the cartridge slot. Very fortunate because BunnyBoy had to replace them.
Original N64 -cart slot can be detached from main board and swapped.
SNES (model1) -cart slot can be detached from main board and swapped.
NES (model1) -cart slot can be detached from main board and swapped.
Maybe I missed something. If the M64 cart connector actually *is* removable and replaceable, it's strange that the iFixIt disassembly missed that.
