A Type II superconductor disc cooled with liquid nitrogen, demonstrating the physics phenomenon of quantum locking as it tracks along a magnetic pathway.

Action Lab Shorts

This is a real laboratory physics demonstration showcasing quantum locking (also called flux pinning). When a Type II superconductor is frozen using liquid nitrogen, it locks into a fixed position in three- dimensional space-allowing it to glide along a magnetic track or hover upside down without falling off.

Looking for my first childhood friend from Ghatkopar West, Mumbai — Umesh

This is a bit of a long shot, but I thought I'd try anyway.

Around 2010–2011, when I was about 3–4 years old, I stayed with my maternal grandmother in Ghatkopar West for roughly a year while my mother was away for her education.

I lived around Jagdusha Nagar, near what I remember as Juni Rikshawwali Chawl, close to a big peepal tree and a Ganesh temple. I remember Shilpa Building being nearby, along with shops I remember as Kadam Kaka's shop and Ashu Didi's shop.

During that time I had my first childhood friend. His name was Umesh. I don't remember his surname, unfortunately. He was from a Marwari family and spoke Hindi.

We used to play together quite often, go to the same local tuition, and he would sometimes come to my grandmother's house to play. I remember visiting his house once or twice too. His house was somewhere in the same line as ours, but it wasn't directly connected to our house.

I was only 3–4, so most of the memories are pretty fragmented. I don't remember his parents' names or even whether he had siblings. I don't know if he was exactly the same age as me either.

But I remember his personality pretty clearly—he was playful, mischievous and a little careless. 😂

And apparently one of the things my brain decided was important enough to preserve for the next 15+ years was that he broke the neck of my toy horse. 😂

I also have random memories of that neighborhood from those days—Holika Dahan on the ground near the Ganesh temple, Diwali with akash kandils outside people's homes, and once accidentally stepping on someone's rangoli. 😭

Eventually I went back to live with my parents, and obviously at that age I had no idea that I was losing contact with someone I'd never see again.

Recently, after all these years, I somehow remembered his name again: Umesh. It felt strange because I hadn't consciously thought about him for years, but the memory was apparently still somewhere in my head.

I have no idea whether Umesh still lives in the area, whether he remembers me, or whether anyone from that time would even remember us.

But I'd genuinely love to know how he's doing today.

If you grew up around Jagdusha Nagar/Ghatkopar West around 2010, or remember the old locality and these landmarks, I'd love to hear from you. Even if you don't know Umesh, any memories about the area from that period would be really cool to hear.

I'm not looking for anyone's private information—just hoping this somehow reaches someone who remembers that little neighborhood or, incredibly, Umesh himself. ❤️

Asymptomatic 18M with "Suspected Retrovesical Appendiceal Mucocele" and Malrotation on CECT. Surgical management advice?

Looking for clinical insights from GI specialists/surgeons on my CECT findings (Jan 2024). I am currently 100% asymptomatic with zero pain for two years.

* History: Emergency open exploratory laparotomy 4 years ago for suspected rupture. Surgeon spent 3 hours but could not locate the appendix.

* CECT Findings (with IV Contrast):

Mid-gut malrotation; cecum and ileocecal junction are displaced deep into the "retrovesical space."

Appendix is a convoluted, moderately dilated, fluid-filled tubular structure behind the bladder; report notes "suspected evolving mucocele formation."

Associated findings: Prominent retroperitoneal/inguinal lymph nodes and marginal aortitis/arteritis (mild narrowing at celiac/SMA origins).

*Current Status: Completely pain-free.

*Questions:

Given the zero-symptom baseline for 2 years, how likely is it that this deep pelvic fluid collection is a post-surgical pseudocyst/adhesion rather than a true mucocele?

Due to the retrovesical placement and malrotation, is an elective laparoscopic approach typically feasible for this, or does it standardly require an open retrieval?

Intestinal malrotation

18M,

History: About 4 years ago, I suddenly developed severe stomach pain one day. After examining me, the doctor evaluated that I had swelling on the right side ,i.e large intestine. He prescribed some medications, but the pain returned after 3 to 4 days. Since the medications were prescribed for a 10-day course, I decided to wait.

However, I was unable to pass stool from the 5th to the 8th day, and on the 9th day, I suddenly developed loose motions.Because the pain persisted, I had a sonography done. The radiologist provided incorrect findings in the report, stating that it was an appendix rupture.

The surgeon performed an emergency open surgery but could not find the appendix because it was located in the retrovesical space (which was later discovered on a CT scan). They tried hard for 3 hours, so it ultimately turned out to be just an exploratory surgery.I continued to experience occasional episodes of pain for 2 years after the surgery.

For the past two years, however, I have been feeling better and rarely experience any pain.

My main concern now is regarding a CT report from two years ago, which mentioned something about an "appendiceal mucocele."

I haven't felt any symptoms since then.

Do you think I should check in with a doctor to get an updated report, or has my body simply adapted to it?

Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks in advance! 🙏

I had a dream where I experienced what I thought being drunk felt like... even though I've never had alcohol.

I'm 18 and I've never touched alcohol in my life, which is why this dream has been stuck in my head.

In the dream, I somehow ended up drinking my dad's alcohol. As it started affecting me, I experienced this really strange sensation that I can still remember after waking up. It felt like my brain became "lighter," I had less control over my body, and there was this weird euphoric, floaty feeling. It honestly felt like what I imagine being drunk would feel like.

The weirdest part is that, inside the dream, I actually Googled why I wasn't getting "high enough" after drinking so much alcohol. The search results in the dream said something like it was because of my body's internal stress and tiredness. Even the Google search happened entirely within the dream.

What's even stranger is that the feeling itself wasn't completely new. I've felt something vaguely similar a few times while awake, especially years ago on a giant Ferris wheel when it suddenly dropped at high speed. The dream seemed to take that sensation and connect it to alcohol.

Lately I've also been having a lot of very vivid, strange, and almost lucid dreams, so maybe it's related.

Has anyone else experienced a dream where your brain created a sensation you've never actually experienced in real life? I'm curious whether this is common or if anyone has had something similar.

To everyone awake at 3 AM wondering if they are capable enough...

If you're lying awake wondering whether you're capable enough to survive this world, I want you to know something.

Being uncertain does not mean you're incapable.

Many of us look at our exam results, our failures, or the people who seem miles ahead of us and quietly think, "Maybe I'm just not enough." But that feeling isn't proof. It's fear trying to predict the future.

Capability isn't something you're simply born with. It's built through learning, practice, and continuing even when things don't go the way you hoped.

At 19, 20, or even later, very few people have everything figured out. Most are learning as they go. The people who eventually succeed aren't always the smartest—they're often the ones who keep moving despite uncertainty.

If you met another student with your exact struggles, would you tell them, "You're incapable"? Probably not. You'd tell them they still have a chance.

Try offering yourself that same kindness.

You don't need to figure out your entire life tonight.

You only need to figure out tomorrow.

Study one chapter.

Learn one concept.

Take care of your health.

Get some rest.

Repeat.

Those ordinary days have a way of becoming an extraordinary future.

If no one has told you this recently: I believe your future is still unwritten. One exam, one setback, or one bad year does not decide the rest of your life.

Keep going. One day you'll look back and realize that the version of you who was doubting everything was also quietly becoming stronger.

Any NEET aspirants from Sangli district who have joined ALLEN DLP CBT Test Series?

Hi everyone,

I'm from Sangli district and I'm planning to join the ALLEN DLP CBT Test Series for NEET 2027.

If you're from Sangli (or nearby Miraj/Kupwad) and have personally joined the ALLEN DLP CBT test series, could you please share your experience?

I'd like to know:

•Which city /clg/lab was your CBT centre?

•Approximately how many students appeared for the tests?

•Was it conducted in a proper computer lab?

Were the CBT tests actually conducted offline as scheduled?

•How was your overall experience with the test series?

•I'd really appreciate any genuine feedback.

Thanks in advance!
