DUI impact on bgv Canada

Hi,

I got a DUI charge but currently I am fighting it in court, not convicted yet. I am in Ontario, Canada. Has anyone with a DUI got a job offer in a bank and cleared their bgv without any issues. I am a software engineer. Don't have to drive as part of my job duties. I am looking if anyone who has DUI was able clear BGVs or faced issues. Please share your experiences. Thanks in advance

Working FT as software tester in a Canadian bank. The pay is not that good to meet my expenses. Planning to take a contract with no conflict of interest with existing FTE.

Working FT as software automation tester with in a Canadian bank. The pay is not that good to meet my expenses. Planning to take a contract with no conflict of interest with existing FTE in bank. How do I start looking for contract jobs that is remote and would not do extensive BGVs. I would like to work in flexible timings. I am ready to put 4 hours everyday to this second work. Please advice and help. Thanks.

I am looking for contract job in software testing. I am already working a FTE software testing job in a bank. That salary is not enough for my expenses and a commitment that I have now.

How do I break through and get a contract role in testing, I am ok with getting at least 2k a month( can spend 3 to 4 hrs a day in my own schedule) which will help me. Those of you doing a c2c along with a FTE, please help. How were you able to achieve this?

Rental car was impounded when I was DUI. I informed the insurance about it and now they would not cover my rental cost for 1 week. Should I have dealt this directly with rental company?

Rental car was impounded when I was DUI. I foolishly informed the insurance about it and now they would not cover my rental cost for 1 week. Should I have dealt with this directly with the rental company? So that I would have paid only tow, impound and storage and the rent would have been paid by the Insurance company. Did I make a mistake? Thanks in advance for your advice.

Is a DUI conviction needed for insurance premiums to increase or just a charge itself is enough for rates to spike? Ontario, Canada

Switch from Senior SDET to Full-Stack Developer — worth a pay cut?

I have around 15 years of experience in QA/SDET and currently work at a Canadian bank. I feel like I’ve hit a ceiling in terms of growth and promotion within QA, so I’m considering moving into a full-stack development role to continue learning and expanding my career.

However, since I don’t yet have strong development experience at that level, I wouldn’t be able to move in as a Senior Developer. My company is open to transitioning me into a Software Developer role, but it would come with a level downgrade and a pay cut.

Has anyone made a similar transition? Was it worth taking a step back in title and compensation for long-term growth?

I have 15 years in QA background. I work in a Canadian bank and I feel there is no room for promotion or growth in QA. So I plan to move to development at least I would have some learning. But I can't move as a Senior developer as I lack those skills. They are ready to take me a Software developer with a pay cut, level down obviously. Is it worth it?
