Looking to be a roommate!

Im struggling financially to keep up with renting a studio apartment(1200 ish currently). I can’t seem to find any cheaper apartments and because of the current struggle, I also can’t really afford a deposit-not one equivalent to rent but could maybe swing a much smaller one.

I’m looking to see if there’s a room for rent in NE near pcc Cascade or anywhere inner east side. Or anywhere inner SW/NW. Very open to location as long as I’m able to connect with a bus stop.
(I’m a pcc student and I work weekends in nw)

A little about me(27 NB);
I spend most of my time on little crafts or reading or rewatching trash 2000s sitcoms. I like wandering around the local parks with my instrument to practice outside. Also enjoy getting to the river with my paddle board when I can. During the last year I’ve quit smoking cigs and drinking, though I don’t mind being around folks that do. I’m an extroverted introvert sorta. Around people I can get chatty and I like group river days or outings but at home I’m pretty quiet. I’m a military veteran who deeply dislikes the government and cares about community organizing. Currently working on my nursing school pre-requisites I’ve been living in a studio so I have just a few pieces of furniture(a rooms worth).

Ideally I could find similarly private but friendly folks who have the space, access to bus routes, and ability to forgo a huge deposit. Maybe take over a room in an already established house. I would like to spend under 800 a month with utilities.

Let me know if you have anything available, thank you!

What/where is your favorite PDX vending machine?

We have vending machines for gag gifts, cakes, crystals, and Coca-Cola.
So so many.

Which one around town is your favorite?

Help me figure out who the department head of my bio class is-regarding required use of ai for class

Hi. I’m at my wits end. Another assignment is asking us to use ai as well as is credited to be written by ai. The directions are unclear and the workload for students who refuse to use ai is heavier. And AI is listed as part of the grading rubric. The assignment feels very punishing as a student who doesn’t use AI.

I would like to email a copy of this assignment to the department head and can’t figure out who it is.

River deaths-how do drownings happen in “calmer” parts of the rivers and happen so often in Portland?

So it’s not really morbid curiosity so much as me not understanding the accident prevention beyond life vests.

I see reports about the amount of drownings and river deaths in Portland-but what is causing them to drown?

Please don’t put me down for intelligence. I’ve googled and I read it but it seems so implausible to happen when in the river near spots like rooster rock…..which I saw had a drowning today.

Like that river section always seemed really calm-even last year when water was high and the shore was super eroded. (Paddle boarded a few times there and swim there a lot)

So how do drownings happen in these areas?
How so often?

For reference-I’m from a high desert area/canyons with white water(like Grand Canyon/Colorado River/fast rivers) and I feel like there were less reported deaths or less often-but lots of tourists….but why did it not seem as prevelant?

ID and advice

Around 5:20 pm I left my house for an AA meeting. Around 6:45 I met up with a friend to hang out on a restaurant patio and ended up being a close proximity to a houseless man to let him borrow my lighter.

Around 7pm I got a sensation-not quite itchy but like ish? And noticed a bite starting to swell-assumed it was a spider-has happened before on this patio around all the trees and things.

A few moments later I get the same sensation on my other shoulder-a bite red starting to swell.

I take off my jacket and start shaking it out and end up finding this-which I assume is a bedbug but almost assumed tick at first?

So I removed the bug and took a picture.
Got home into the bathroom and searched and bagged everything else I was wearing including shoes and bag-sprayed with a bed bug/moth/carpet beetle killer spray and double bagged.
Removed linens from bathroom.
Can’t find anymore bugs in my apartment. Can’t put clothes in washer or dryer until tomorrow. Can’t bring myself to check my bed thoroughly until my partner gets home. I haven’t had any bites before this evening.

So questions
Is this a bed bug?

What is the likelyhood it was from my house?

The bites swelled immediately, if it was from my house would I have more bites?

If Should I inform the AA building?? How?

What else should I do besides washing and high heat drying those clothes?

Where else should I check in my apartment?

(I’m freaking out and itchy over my whole body now out of paranoia

Hey! So my best friend bought me a ticket to see faetooth at Aladdin on Monday and I’m hoping that if someone has an extra ticket or ends up not going————they’d be willing to give me it so I can bring my partner! (Can’t really afford to purchase one is the reason)

Thank you!
