My Zapotecs civ concept

I will be honest, I am terrible historian. I was just thinking about it from game perspective and I worry I made it too OP, even for my tastes

This is just copy from my notes I was writing when I was gone on vacation, watching whatever I could and then coming up with my civs for AOE2

  • COA: Mosaic mask of Bat God, Piquete Ziña
  • Castle: Monte Albán
  • Wonder: Mitla

ARCHER AND DEFENSIVE CIV

TEAM BONUS: Skirmishers get +1 against buildings

  4. Buildings are not limited by Elevation, except Town Centers
  • UNIQUE UNIT 1: Owl Warrior(Imagine Guecha Warrior, but instead of heal abilty, he has Hit and Run ability, IE can attack while running, the Damage is closer to Skirmisher than Guecha warrior. Their throw spears even when running from you).
  • UNIQUE UNIT 2: Hornet thrower(A mix of Jurchen Grenadier and SC2 Brood lord. He throws beehive, that will soften up(IE poison) enemy, those Beehives are two second living entities that will damage you. Strong against groups and cavalry, weak against siege)

TECH 1: Mitla Masonry(Buildings receive -20% Anti-building damage)

TECH 2: Obsidian tips(Skirmishers and Eagle warriors ignore 50% of your armor)

Custom civ of my day: Estonians

I wanted to add some Eastern European naval civ so I decided to add them. Estonian military history isn't my cup of tea, the only things I found is that Oeselian islands were full of Vikings and sea-fairers and Danish played heavily in the influence, so there's that.

  • COA: Estonian Coat of Arms
  • Castle: (Hermann castle, Narva)
  • Wonder(Valjala church, Saaremaa)

Infantry and Naval civ

>TEAM BONUS: Ships in general get +2 LOS

  1. Clinker construction and Carvel hull are free
  2. Militia line gets +1/1 armor
  3. Woodcutters carry +20% wood
  4. Starts with Villager gathering food from deer

>UNIQUE UNIT 1: Oeselian Veteran(Skirmisher-type unit, that switches has minimum range, in which he switches from ranged to melee. Strong against archers, weak against cavalry. THE ONLY CASTLE UNIQUE UNIT that costs wood and food. No, Magyar Huszar costs gold until you research the tech. This one can switch to melee anytime, but if you get close to it in order to attack it, he will automatically switch to it.)

>UNIQUE UNIT 2: Danish Crusader(Cavalry unit, trainable from stables, who can march across water. Sort of like Nagas from WC3, but instead this one can't fight on water, and is vulnerable in swimming state(Let me put it like this: Arbalester would need to bring Elite one down).

If you're curious, neither unit is based on any historical record, I just needed to add new units for the sake of adding them.

  1. TECH 1: Oeselianraids(Hulk line and Melee Oeselian raiders attack 20% faster)
  2. TECH 2: Livonian order(Militia-line, Danish Crusaders and Oeselian Veterans(In Melee specifically) generate gold in combat)

Tech tree:

  • ARCHERS Missing Heavy cavarcher and Hand Cannoneer
  • INFANTRY: Missing Gambesons
  • CAVALRY: THE ONLY EUROPEAN CIV WITHOUT KNIGHT LINE, THEY INSTEAD HAVE DANISH CRUSADERS, otherwise missing Husbandry and Hussar
  • SIEGE: Missing Siege Ram and Siege Onager
  • BLACKMSITH: Missing Plate Barding
  • MONKS: Missing Redemption, Heresy, Sanctity and Atonement
  • DOCK: Missing Fast Fireship and Incendiaries
  • DEFENSES: Missing Bombard tower, Arrowslits, Treadmil crane, Fortified wall, Siege engineers, Sappers and Keep
  • ECONOMY: Missing Crop rotations and Guilds

Imagine if each campaign had Chronicles/Three Kingdoms/Last Chieftains style decisions, what would be for Prithviraj

Note: This is not my image, this is from Wiki.

Before you get angry that i'm not always using the proper names, sorry. I'm going with colors

Here are my decisions

  1. Born of Fire - Saving two villages = more resources at the start of each game. Killing red Raja = red player will take extra time to attack you in the next scenario
  2. The Digvijaya - Having to pick a reward for liberating Green player. Either Light cavalry or Elephant archers.
  3. Hand of a Princess = Arriving sooner = you will gain extra twenty years in next scenario
  4. The Fate of India = Slaughtering monks or sparing them. Next scenario you can start with extra monk or extra gold

My interpretation of Andalusians into AOE2.

I wrote this during my trip in the woods, so i'm going to post stuff like this. While Berbers and Saracens may represent conquerors of Spain. Andalusians represent Muslims who lived in Spain by the time of Great Reconquista. I call them "Middle Eastern" because of Architecture

  • COA: Emirate of Granada
  • Castle: Alhambra
  • Wonder: Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba(I knnow its inappropriate, but damn it, I have to use fantastical architecture for once)

Defensive, Monk and Economy civ

TEAM BONUS: Monasteries, blacksmiths and Universities add +5 pop space

  1. Foragers generate 25% gold
  2. Defensive buildings resist 20% of the bonus damage
  3. University techs cost -60% food
  4. Military units(Except Ships and siege) cost -5% less
  5. Have access to Caravensarai
  6. Monks regenerate 15/20HP per minute

Unique unit: Alhambran Guard(Infantry unit, that can work like villager, they work 50% slower than a vilager, but when the time comes, they fight. Strong against ranged, weak against cavalry)

  • TECH 1: Jizia(Villagers generate 1 gold per 20 resources)
  • TECH 2: Zenata volunteers(Cavalry archers, Camels and Light cavalry do +5 against buildings)

TECH TREE

  • ARCHERS Missing Arbalester, Thumb Ring and Parthian tactics
  • INFANTRY: Missing Champion and Arson
  • CAVALRY: Missing bloodlines and Paladin
  • SIEGE: Missing Siege Onager and Bombard Cannon
  • DEFENSES: Missing Bombard Tower and Siege Engineers
  • Blacksmith: Missing Blast Furnace
  • DOCK: Missing Heavy Demo Ship, Dry Dock, Incendiaries and Shipwright(Really, looking up Granada history and it seems they weren't impressive in sea, yes they sure ruled over a coastal nation, but they weren't the naval rulers like Aragonese, they merely traded with the nations south of them)
  • MONKS: Missing Faith
  • ECONOMY: Its full

Custom civ of the series "To the Last Daimyo" Part 2: Kyushians

Sequel to the post here

Before you post comment: I DON'T WANT TO HEAR "PLS DO THIS AREA" or "WE HAVE ENOUGH OF THIS CIV"
This is just my fun Sengoku Jidai split, nothing more. And besides, I count Kyushans as an culture, not a faction, so therefore they are worthy of a split IMO

  • COA: Shimazu clan
  • Castle: Kokura castle, Fukuoka perfecture
  • Wonder: Dazaifu Tenmangu temple, same perfecture

Infantry and Gunpowder civ

TEAM BONUS: Gunpowder units do +1 against archers

  1. Lumber and Mining Camps add +5 pop space
  2. Militia line and Warrior monks costs -20%/25%/30/35% less gold
  3. Medium Warships and Heavy Warships cost -50% less
  4. Gunpowder units regenerate 25 HP per minute

UNIQUE UNIT: Kanabo samurai(Anti-armor infantryman, who deals slash attack(Ibirapema but instead of hitting unit behind the target, he hits two units next to the target. It works when he's targeting unit next to you). Weak pierce armor, strong attack)

  • TECH 1: Yari(Spearmen get +0,50 range. Didn't wanted next Kamayuk)
  • TECH 2: Nanban Trade(Hand Cannoneers gain +2 projectiles)

TECH TREE:

  • ARCHERS Missing Arbalester, Parthian Tactics and Thumb ring
  • INFANTRY: Missing Gambesons
  • CAVALRY: Missing Paladin
  • SIEGE: Missing Siege ram and Siege Onager
  • BLACKSMITH Missing Bracer
  • DOCK They have Bune ship line instead of Galley, otherwise missing Incendiaries and Heavy Demo Ship
  • MONKS: THE ONLY CIV WITHOUT DEVOTION AND FAITH, otherwise missing Heresy and Block Printing, a nod to Otomo converting to Catholicism after Portuguese
  • DEFENSES Missing Architecture, Keep and Arrowslits
  • ECONOMY Missing Two-man saw

Regionals:

  • Regional Cavalry unit: Mounted Samurai. Cavalry archer replacement, OG Japanese will have to rename thier Samurai to Katana Samurai
  • Regional ship line: Kobaya -> Bune -> Atakebune. Galleon replacement.
  • Regional unit 2: Sohei monk -> Elite Sohei Monk: Shock Infantry, trained , slight bonus against cavalry, but they have ability to tiny heal unit, sort of like Reverse Guecha warrior, except instead of healing themselves after one falls, they heal each other after enemy falls. They are upgraded by fervor and Sanctity, but take damage from Light cavalry as a monk

Map of Monsters that I think would thrive the best in USA

I originally planned on posting this in 250th 4th of July, but alas, I will be gone on the hike in the woods, so I am making this before I go there.

Confession: I am not American, nor Biologist. I am an Slovak economy student, who used to live in England for a year, and then returned back to Slovakia. And my older brother, who is expert on Witcher lore, is in Switzerland. The closest I have to America is a cousin who lives in Vermont as an dentist. I was very good in geography lessons back when I was in High school

And if there is better expert on lore like u/LozaMoza or u/PaulSimonBarCarloson, feel free to correct me

Before I go, I tried my best to use one species per state, so if a monster like Griffin might thrive better in states like Texas, keep in mind that I was going for one species per state. That doesn't mean they can't thrive elsewhere. I also wanted to use monsters that are common for witchers, so Kayrans, Toad Princes and Dragons are very large exceptions

So here is my explanation for many of them

  • States like Colorado, Montana, S. Dakota, Nebraska are either mountainous or too windy, so flying monsters like Griffons, Cockatrices, Wyverns would thrive there. ANd most of them are part of Rocky Mountains, therefore. While Kansas has little to no mountains, I doubt the wind would trouble Wyverns
  • Minnesota would be suitable for Nekkers, since Minnesota is full of abandoned mines
  • Trolls, Shaelmars nd Cyclops would thrive the best in rocky terrains, so states like Dakota, New Mexico
  • Arizona and California are rich on insects, so Crab spiders and Endregas.
  • Iowa is the most fertile state, and its in the center of Corn Belt so Archesporas made sense to me.
  • Indiana is also very fertile, therefore giant centipedes might be their best places
  • Missouri and Arkansas are very much home to redneck horror tales
  • West Virginia, the closest I could think of is Chort
  • Michigan and Wisconsin are home to many wolves, and Werewolf tales as well, and since Ulfhedins and Werewolves are considered two different species, so there's that
  • Texas is very hot and cast planes, plus it has the biggest population of lizards in the USA, and Basilisks are Lizards
  • Kentucky was very hard for me to decide, and I remembered it has large rural areas, and its one of those states associated with Rednecks. Imagine Torque the Sylvan or All-god if they were put to modern day Kentucky. Possibly the best state to mess with people
  • Wyoming may be the most windy, but Yellowstone national park would be the breeding ground for Fiends
  • Ohio is a terrifying state, and I hate those spiders, so both fit together
  • Louisiana is the most vampire state, and Bruxas are basically Alcoholics by the Vampire standard. New Orleans would be their all-you-can-eat-buffet. New hampshire, Connecticut and Rhode Island are the most urban in New England, and they also have lots of vampire stories.
  • Normally Leshy would thrive in New Yrok, but Zeugls would thrive in New York city even better
  • Virginia had suffered most during Civil war, while states like Tennessee, N. Carolina and Oklahoma are states where I hear a lot of tragic love stories take place
  • South Carolina is also very fertile, so I chosen Kikkimoras due to them being just an oversized ants
  • Alabama and Mississippi are states with highest mortality rate
  • Nevada has most Casinos, especially in Las Vegas. Succubi are the most tempting of the monsters, they might drive the most desperate to their beds
  • Shaelmar is an underground creature, and Utah is full of caves and rocky mountains
  • Oregon is very forested, and the pines are larger than the ones in east, so Leshy would be most sensible. Vermont is quite similar, so they have Spriggans, who are just Leshens
  • washington state has most fogs, so Foglets would find it to be their habitat
  • Hawaii is open ocean, Sirens love open oceans
  • Florida, Maryland and Georgia are very much water based states, so Drowned Dead, Drowners and Water Hags
  • Barghests is my nod to Pet cemetery, a book by Stephen King. The story takes place in Maine
  • Vodyanoi are in Massachussets as my nod to book "Shadow over Innsmouth" by HP Lovecraft. The book is set in Massachussets, and it features fish people(>!It reminds me, Chapter IV in Witcher 1 has Geralt fighting Lovecraftian god named "Dagon", who rules over fishfolk in the lake!<)
  • Dopplers would be best in District Columbia. why? Because people love to learn secrets, and which place is the most fertile for secrets to thrive than the one that controls most of the USA? Washington DC would be the biggest place for Dopplers, I can imagine government utilizing them, or hunting them down

You're Radovid's lawyer, defend him at court

Here's my defense

>Your honor. Everything wrong with Radovid's life happaned because Philippa turned him into a newt

u/Axenfonklatismrek — 2 months ago

You're their lawyer, how would you defend Crones at court?

Here's my attempt

>Your honor. They're helping the local population get over trouble in exchange for kids. These peasants live in harsh times, and these crones offer them safety and heaven and peace. The villagers consent to sacrifing ears and children so there's that, in exchange for help.

Which of these 3 monsters is the most sadistic?

For those who don't know

  • Vilgefortz of Roggeveen [THE WITCHER BOOKS] was an ambitious, misogynistic, senior member of the the Chapter of the Gift and the Art, who desired unlimited power and world domination at any cost. Previously a killer and thief before becoming a mage, Vilgefortz aided Emperor Emhyr var Emreis in his quest to find Ciri, and helped Emhyr rise to the throne in exchange for the North once it was taken over. Vilgefortz betrayed his Northern sorcerer comrades to Nilfgaard, facilitating a bloodbath, not even because he switched sides, but to create a distraction for his personal power play and capture Ciri for himself. Vilgefortz brutally beats Geralt, refraining from killing him as a "lecture". Vilgefortz would betray Emhyr by sending him a decoy of Ciri. Believing that Ciri's "blood" as per prophecy refers to her actual blood as opposed to her progeny, he performed vivisection experiments on living women in preparation for extracting Ciri's placenta and using it for her powers. He captures and tortures Yennefer for information; when Ciri offers herself to save Yennefer, he imprisons both anyways. In the final fight against him, Vilgefortz attempts to kill both Geralt and Yennefer, ripping apart and melting their ally Regis
    • His ending? Geralt sliced off his head after a LONG HARD BATTLE
  • Ramsay Snow [A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones], the Bastard of Bolton, stands out as one of the most savage and depraved men in Westeros. Suspected of murdering his good-hearted, trueborn brother, Ramsay first comes to prominence after he forces Lady Hornwood to marry him to gain her lands. Having already starved her to death, Ramsay avoids death at the hands of Winterfell soldiers by impersonating his servant, Reek, then sending his "friend" to die in his place. When Theon Greyjoy takes over Winterfell, the imprisoned Ramsay allies himself with Greyjoy and acts as a corruptive influence, ultimately being the one to convince Theon to cross the line by murdering two little boys to pass them off as Bran and Rickon Stark. Gathering his own forces, Ramsay slaughters Ser Rodrik's Northerner soldiers, then betrays and captures Theon before ordering his men to raze Winterfell and slaughter everyone inside. One of Ramsay's favorite past-times is flaying people alive and he's done this many times, from the people he tortures, to the girls hunts for fun. that give him bad sport, to the surrendering Ironborn forces of Moat Cailin after Ramsay promised them mercy. Ramsay is also responsible for physically and mentally torturing Theon Greyjoy to condition him into a pathetic, insane wretch who believes himself the new Reek. Taking an Arya Stark impersonator as his wife to maintain Bolton control of the North, Ramsay abuses her constantly, despite her usefulness, even forcing Theon to participate in her wedding night bedding. A half-feral beast of a man, Ramsay lives to satisfy his sadistic urges and is so pointlessly and moronically cruel that even his own sociopathic father has to hold himself back from killing him.
    • His ending? In the TV show, Sansa Stark fed Ramsay's dogs with Ramsay's flesh. The books are yet to be finished

[SPOILERS MAIN] Yesterday I finished A Clash of Kings. I cannot view the TV show anymore

I'm going to get a lot of hate but books are so good I cannot view the TV Show anymore, even in early good seasons.

Is there anyone who cannot view the TV show after reading books?

Spliting Japanese: To the last Daimyo! Part 1: Regionals

Yes, I used to be big fan of Shogun 2, but thats besides the point

Premise? Sengoku period. Creating at least 3 splits(Kyushans, Shikokians and Togoku(OG Japanese))

  • Architecture will be a new one, Japanese, a split from East Asian. Yes I know Japanese were heavily influenced by Chinese architecture, but lets just give them separate for fun
  • First, Regional Cavalry unit: Mounted Samurai. Cavalry archer replacement, OG Japanese will have to rename thier Samurai to Katana Samurai
  • Second: Regional ship line: Kobaya -> Bune -> Atakebune. Galleon replacement.
  • Regional unit 3: Sohei monk -> Elite Sohei Monk: Shock Infantry, trained , slight bonus against cavalry, but they have ability to tiny heal unit, sort of like Reverse Guecha warrior, except instead of healing themselves after one falls, they heal each other after enemy falls. They are upgraded by fervor and Sanctity, but take damage from Light cavalry as a monk

this is just by far regionals, civs are going to be hitting this place, don't worry, I'll try my best to do so, but schedule is not going my way

Geralt of Rivia in his prime(Witcher 3) vs Wyald(Berserk)

Lets imagine Witcher has all the best gear, so Iris and Aerondight swords, mutations, Bombs to change the tide, traps ideal to slow him a bit and strongest potions, along with prep time to fight someone like Wyald

Just wyald, no Black Dogs, no Guts, no one.

Round 1: Horseback

Round 2: Foot

Round 3: Wyald Apostle form

BONUS ROUND: Geralt gets help from his team(Ciri, Triss, Yennefer, Regis, Zoltan, other witchers from Wolf school or whoever I failed to mention.)

Now my tierlist for unique units:

Before you get angry, This is just my personal opinion on the units themselves, if you disagree, good, doesn't mean I hate you, i am just posting my opinion on unique units

Just because I love the civ doesn't mean I am biggest fan of the unique unit. For example: I love Magyar Huzsar, but Magyars are not my civ. I don't like using War Wagons but I love Bohemians
