2 Weeks of Replacing Mouse with Keyboard

Just a demo clip of where I’m at combining Mouseless (app) with wl-kbptr after 2 weeks. Since starting I’ve seen some good suggestions on more ergonomic keybinds such as moving as much as I can to homerow using keyd

Oh gosh I was confident I hit mute on the editor when exporting sorry about the asmr whispering 😂

VO2 Max going up!

Started running again back in May and have been (patiently) watching VO2 max creep upward. Been waiting to bump up to blue and finally hit it today! Feel like it’s starting to level off, hopefully can keep the trend moving and maybe hit purpleu!

AI Mentality Shift Opinion

First and foremost, I love AI and how much time it saves. I’ve been an embedded software engineer for over a decade and it helps out a ton with my tasks on a day to day basis. We have a couple new hires who are fresh out of college and rely so heavily on it, some dont even have IDEs set up. Sure they get tasks completed, but sometimes it’s done the incorrect way and you can tell there’s a lack of understanding of how the implementation was made which also leads to a lack of understanding of the system/product.

I’ve been test driving Quattro for a day now and pretty much have converted most of my hyprland conf files over to Lua and am looking forward to diving deeper into quickshell (esp since Qt/QML has been my speciality my whole career). But majority of time I see people asking for help, “ask an ai agent”. Even something as simple as trying to modify the default quickshell conf I asked in discord and was told “idk ask ai agent”. I found it was as simple as ~/.conf/omarchy/shell.json; not sure why I need to burn tokens to find that out. Anyways it’s looking like the same thing is happening here where people are beginning to abstract themselves away from the OS configuration behind an ai prompt instead of understanding how their system actually work. Pre Quattro that was not the mentality and it seemed like a lot more users knew exactly where their configuration files lived and how to rice out their systems.

Again I’m not anti AI and use it often, just feel like we should also put in the effort to understand our systems.

Quickshell with open app icons in workspace?

https://preview.redd.it/49rb81mqgdjh1.png?width=307&format=png&auto=webp&s=0b349b76cf1ed7a4e55aeb7e59e3e994124fbcb5

Looking to move to Quattro soon, but the only thing I haven't seen yet is something similar to how I currently have my Waybar configured. My Waybar workspace area will update with icons of open applications (based on a defined map), is there a Quickshell plugin already developed that has this functionality? Thanks

Basic Photo Editing No Mouse

Few days ago I discovered some apps that allow mouse control via keyboard. Instantly hooked and wanted to show a quick demo of a very simple image edit for another project. Splitting image into two and matching background for a design.

For those interested Im on hyprland using wl-kbptr and Mouseless. wl-kbptr does image processing (via opencv) and allows me to jump to different locations and execute a click (when green squares show up all over the screen this is wl-kbptr). Mouseless lets me move the mouse freely using hjkl and also click.

Mouse (de)trainer

In the spirit of keybind purgatory, I found out about a few apps that allow you to control your mouse via keyboard binds. I’m using a combo of wl-kbptr and Mouseless and had ai (yes yet another ai slop, but it’s actually perfect for quick spin side quests like this) create a training playground to practice with.

Set Pace Target (Garmin)?

I have an easy run tomorrow and I’ve been tending to lean going a little too fast (who doesn’t) on these runs. Is it possible to set a pace target and have it sync to Garmin much like the interval workouts?

HR Sensor Variability or Loss of Running Aerobic Base?

So I got back into running in May 2026 after about a year off (newborn life 😅). Since then I've been pretty consistent and I'm currently on week 5/8 of a Runna 5K improvement plan. I also picked up a Garmin Instinct 3, which I've been loving.

Recent runs:

  • 3.75 mi @ 9:20/mi, avg HR 152 bpm
  • 6 mi @ 8:47/mi, avg HR 168 bpm

I'm happy with my progress and have definitely improved since May.

Out of curiosity, I looked back at data from about 2 years ago when I had a Garmin Venu 3. At the time I was doing CrossFit ~6 days/week, ran only occasionally (no structured plan), and never paid attention to HR. I found a 3-mile run at 8:47/mi with an average HR of just 139 bpm.

That seems like a huge difference compared to now. I know the Venu 3 has a newer optical HR sensor than the Instinct 3, but can the sensor alone account for ~30 bpm? Or did I really lose that much fitness during the year I took off?

Are shorter runs midway through common?

5k improvement plan, progressive & Challenging. This is my first plan with runna and I was happy to see for this week (week 3 of 8) my easy run was 4 mi and long run 5 mi. Thought it would get longer or stay the same but looking forward to my next week it has 2.75 mi on two separate days as easy runs and a long run at 3.25 miles. Is this normal or did I mess something up 😅

Car ran over my instinct 3

Put my instinct 3 amoled on my truck dash after a track workout. When turning out the lot the watch slid across the dash and right out the window face down onto the road. Ran out to grab it but while waiting saw a car run it over. When I got it I was surprised at how little damage was on it. No cracks it looks like on screen or sensor area. What a relief!

Venu 3 vs Instinct 3 AMOLED

I currently have a Venu 3 I use for running… saw a good deal on an instinct 3 amoled, would that be considered an upgrade or are they basically the same?

Do people still use power dot (tens)

About 7-8 years ago the Power Dot TENS units were all the rage. The popular CrossFitters at the time were advertising them as well as influencers. I just remembered about it today and was wondering if it was still used or if anything came of the company?
