Recommended Non-Bambu Filament?

Hi. I am the proud owner of a new A1 I received for Father’s Day. Just a quick question - are there other filaments you would recommend? Mostly I am asking because of the convenience of bundling other items on Amazon with Elegoo, Sunrun, etc. vs ordering filament through Bambu directly. My intended use is mostly for hobby - miniature wargaming. Thank you

Samurai Museum, St Ann - Harwood, Uptown Dallas

You have a tremendous resource in your city. As someone who has loved all things Medieval - Knights, Samurai, etc. since a child - this sort of collection was a wonderful find. This was comparable and in some respects better to displays I saw in Tokyo. Please note this photo is from the adjacent building so as to not spoil the museum contents.

Samurai Museum, Downtown Dallas TX

I’ve been traveling to Dallas for a long time and never knew this was here. This in some respects is even better than what I just saw in Japan - more variety including Ashigaru (footman) armor.

Shading and Highlighting Tips?

Most of my painting experience are earth tone minis - lots of Orks in particular where it is base,
shade and very limited highlight of stuff like guns, teeth, etc. Agrax Earthshade and the Vallejo equivalent have been good friend.

I’m painting the Corsairs box using traditional method ie non-Contrast, mostly like the box art. I’ve got the base coat down and don’t know where to go from here. Do I still use a wash at all? Highlight only?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank yoi

New Homes

I was watching Youtube and randomly come across the “Farang Homes” channel and watched a segment about a townhome in HuaHin. As someone who is starting to ideate about living overseas - I wanted to ask what is your impression. Would these really be as move in ready as they seem to an expat, is there a catch? It looked to be 2 bed, 2 bath, single story furnished with outdoor kitchen for $52K US. My apologies in advance if this is a common question. Thank you

SJC to NRT and back: Quick Review

We did the Value package with meals, seat choice, and one checked baggage. Overall I found the flights themselves fine. Not the best airline food but not the worst either. Also the weight limits were not an issue - almost 60 lbs per person of checked luggage is actually a lot. Staff were polite and helpful. Check in processes took a while at Narita but that was mostly due to a systems issue which took them offline for a half hour.

Minimal delays due to the bad weather and their check in issues but nothing that would alter the itinerary.

Most of my challenges were honestly navigating the website itself and a very slow on-line check in - long path to a mobile boarding pass. Even while in Japan it required sitting down with everyone’s passport for about 10 minutes, sometimes re-entering information.

Starlink was down a portion of the first flight but was fine on the second flight.

If you are the type of person that travels light and generally has their stuff together - this is a good airline. But maybe not if you are not committed to the discipline of weighing both the carry on and checked luggage. I left with the impression that this airline might make as much revenue from overweight luggage than they do fares.

B to B Plus level experience overall maybe higher given fares vs the competition

Thank you

Doubletree by Hilton Ariake-Tokyo

My family and I enjoyed our stay here. While it is not immediately visible there are a lot of amenities in the area - shopping, restaurants, and Pop Culture features such as Toyosu Market, Team Labs, Diver City Mall - Gundam Base, etc. The 7-11 being downstairs was great as was being next to the train station once we figured out the subway system and how to use Suica cards. The soba noodle restaurant in the train station is extremely good especially given the value price - was consistently feeding a family for about $20 - $30 US. Reasonable distance to Tokyo Disney. Polite staff, nice rooms if a little smallish by US standards. Room rates were good but did book about 6 months ago.

I will say this is probably NOT the best spot to stay if you want immediate proximity to central Tokyo - both the highest urban areas like Shinjuku or culturally significant areas like Asasuka. But it felt like an easy transition for a family used to more destination vs city vacations.

Maeda Family Exhibit at Tokyo National Museum

I appreciated everyone’s recommendations. We ended up going to the Tokyo National Museum where the current special exhibit is Maeda family heirlooms. We were not allowed to take pictures but many suits of armor, swords, and jinbaori. Also some letters from Toyotomi Hideyoshi!

Shinjuku or Akihabara for mixed generation excursion?

Hi. I am traveling in Tokyo with one senior and two teens. We have a packed itinerary but am wondering what would be best for a mixed generation family daytime excursion. Shinjuku seems cool but am worried that is more nightlife oriented. Thanks in advance!

Sons of Kerensky or Clans?

Am curious as to which to buy during the next Steam sale. SOK looks like one of the better DLCs for 5 other than Heroes of IS - but a whole new game is still a whole new game. Thank you

Do the on board meals come with beverages?

Sorry if this a dumb question but am flying with my family. Am wondering if I need to do something like buy beverages at the airport. I did purchase the onboard meals for both legs. Thanks in advance.

Library Book Sale Finds

Purchased for $15 US. If I waited could have been less on “Fill a Bag” Sunday, but didn’t want to take the chance of them being gone.
