Looking for friends in MIT Manipal

I just joined MIT manipal and I'm looking to make some new friends here.

I'm not into smoking or drinking, so I'd love to meet people who are similar. If you're also looking to make some new friends, DM me and maybe we can meet up sometime! :)

Query regarding counselling

If I pay for a seat in the first round of counselling, if I do not fix my seat and want to go for subsequent rounds of i don't get a branch higher in preference order compared to the branch I have already paid for , will I retain my seat or will I lose that also if I don't fix it now?

Guys Please , We cannot let cbse get away with this

74.8% after scoring 94 percentile in JEE. Something genuinely feels wrong this year.

I waited years for these board results. Worked hard, sacrificed a lot, stayed consistent the entire year… and somehow ended up with 74.8%.

The worst part? I genuinely expected around 90%.

And before someone says “maybe you overestimated yourself,” I got 94 percentile in JEE. I know my level. I know how my exams went. That’s exactly why this entire thing feels so confusing and heartbreaking.

It’s already been several days and answer sheets still aren’t available. Yet students are being forced to decide whether to spend money on re-evaluation without even properly seeing what went wrong.

I’m not from some rich family either. I literally used almost all my saved pocket money to apply for re-evaluation, even while my parents kept telling me not to waste money. For some people ₹500 may be nothing, but for students like me it matters a LOT.

And now after reading so many posts online, even applying for re-checking feels scary because apparently marks can DECREASE too.

Like seriously… why is asking for fair checking treated like gambling?

If a student has written correct points, proper steps, relevant answers — then why should they be terrified of losing more marks because of evaluator mistakes?

What hurts even more is the complete lack of transparency.

No proper explanation.
No justification for deductions.
No clarity.
Nothing.

At least tell students WHERE marks were cut and WHY.

Right now thousands of students are suddenly talking about needing 15–25 marks increases. That alone should tell everyone something feels seriously off this year.

And this isn’t just about “ego” or “wanting more marks.”

College admissions are happening RIGHT NOW.
Scholarships have cutoffs.
Eligibility criteria exist.
People are literally losing opportunities they worked years for.

A board exam is supposed to evaluate students fairly, not mentally exhaust them and make them beg for the marks they believe they earned.

Honestly, switching from ICSE to CBSE is starting to feel like one of the worst decisions I made.

I don’t even know whether re-evaluation will help anymore. But students genuinely need to raise their voices together because this situation is affecting way too many people.

If you’re facing something similar, please speak up. Because staying silent clearly isn’t helping anyone.

MIT COUNSELING DOUBT

i have a 158 with band 8 and 92 percentile , i have applied for jee counseling too but looking at my rank i feel i have a higher chance of getting my desired branch through met counseling , so what should i do for now , should i just ignore the jee counseling deadline or should i just fill 2-3 choices and the again apply through met counseling?

Query regarding counseling process , Please Help

I had a few queries regarding the counselling process:

  1. If I participate in the JEE-based counselling, will I have the option to select only 2–3 branches of my preference? In case I am not allotted any of those branches, will I still be eligible to participate in the MET-based counselling rounds later?
  2. If I choose not to participate in the JEE-based counselling by not paying the counselling registration fee at this stage, will I still remain eligible for the MET-based counselling rounds when they begin?
