Ikon Electric Convection Oven

Please I know nothing about appliances, I live in Ghana and I can't get it easily replaced so I want to temporarily fix it. Something I can do easily that can make the clasp function so the lid can be secure enough for the oven to turn on. I want to start eating healthy and this is the next step for the mean time. I tried putting paper close to something I don't know why I did that but is there a way I can fix the handle? That thing on top is what I press and makes the oven close properly but something broke and I don't know where it is. Please be nice to me lol

Hello, please who can help me temporarily fix this issue whereby the clasp is broken. I put Paper at the bottom(that's what my brain told me to do) but is there another way. I don't know if from the pictures you can see what's going on but it's supposed to latch unto something to fully close for the oven to turn on. I want to start eating healthy again so I want to get it working again, my life is at stake. I live in Ghana so i can't get the parts(I have no idea how appliances work so please be kind)

GIVING UP ON GHANA

What the fuck did I just wake up to? I've not even recovered from the frequent power outages due to the issue at Gridco and now Dominic Ayine the Attorney General has announced that government has accepted key recommendations of the constitution like extending the presidential and parliamentary terms from 4 to 5 years and expanding the parliament but capping it at 300? I know that there are others but this is my main concern

Let's face it, we all know that this announcement means that they are putting measures in place to make these suggestions happen and they are just soft launching it to the public. Even if there's a referendum. Upon all the archaic and irrelevant articles and amendments in that 1992 constitution why are we focusing on those things?

Giving all those public servants who don't serve the public more audacity??? These politicians walk around thinking they are demigods, embezzling funds and abusing their power and now this? Most of the time the only consolation Ghanaians have admist all the corruption is that, "Oh, in 4 years time, I'll exercise my democratic right to change a politician." And they are extending it???? I know this doesn't apply to the incumbent but really? It's like adding more hopelessness to an already hopeless situation.

Why will we waste more public resources by extending parliament? Those fuckers barely perform their duties and barely go to parliament. Everyday useless committees and still nothing so why?

Screw the 4th Republic, the 4th Republic is as good as dead. Two parties have been abusing their power, they have killed millions of dreams for the last 30 years. So many issues that the government can fix by making sensible ammendments to the constitution like with Galamsey, Femicide, basic fu*king human rights but no. These guys know that we're going to alternate between the both of them, so they all patiently wait their turn, no development in sight but they are rewarding themselves with more time.

I'm always trying to stay positive, doing what I can to help the community, performing my duty as an average Ghanaian citizen, seeing the bright side of things but I am giving up. I'm already struggling with the fact that in less than 4 years, Ghana will be importing water and now this. Its always something. Where the hell am I supposed to go?

Are We Going From Tyrant to Tyrant???

Another day another arrest. Why has another woman been arrested for slander against the President? What happened to free speech?

Last time I raised my concerns against the government using public funds to arrest citizens for slander and libel. That its going to set a bad precedent. Meaning there are more arrests to come. This doesn't sit right with me at all. Politicians say the worst things, some minority leaders have alleged and said horrible things about the President yet nothing is done to them. You even see them frolicking with each other at the end of the day at events and parties. This is definitely a class issue. A systematic suppression of the lower class so the elite can preserve their privilege.

The bitterness and anger most citizens feel is warranted. Look at our living conditions, basic human rights literally don't exist in this country. I am in no way condoning libel or slander against the President but if you're employed and you're not meeting expectations, people have the right to say how they feel and sometimes it can get out of hand but arresting them is a bit too far especially if they don't pose a threat.

Will this be the trend now? Airing our grievances is now a crime? Wasting public resources when they can be used for better things. When the previous government arrested the 54 protesters two years ago, this new government was all for free speech so why are they changing their tune now that they are in power?

We have bills policing the private lives of Ghanaians like the so-called Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill(anti LGBTQ bill), all these arrests and the recent Tribunals Bill, I feel very uneasy and upset. So much oppression from the people we have employed, it feels like a joke.

IS OUR "DEMOCRACY" UNDER THREAT

In my opinion, I don't even think what we practice here in this Ghana is democracy because we allow our leaders to do whatever they want, mind you they are our . They don't even pretend to do their duties anymore, constantly laughing in our faces while they impoverish us and we have the masses who defend them.

They have taken everything and are still not satisfied, so they want to take away our freedom of speech. Why has a mere tiktoker been jailed for a year because she was fooling on social media? She said extremely horrible things about the president. Her arrest is even bringing what she said to light, when they could have just ignored it like they way they ignore our basic needs and act as if they are doing us a favour while they embezzle funds. Majority of Ghanaians had no idea. We have members of the opposition that insult and say heinous things to each other, especially to the President but nothing comes out of it so why arrest her?

One can argue that the previous government set a precedent, this was evident during the #OccupyJulorbiHouse and #FreeTheCitizens protests where they arrested multiple protesters and 54 of them remained in jail for two weeks. You would think the recent government would know better because its part of the reasons why they got so unpopular.

I always used to see the people who always said they are all the same as partisan and cowardly for not wanting to do their civic duty when it came to voting but I do see their side of things too. I know you can argue for defamation or False Communication under the Electronic Communications Act, 2008 (Act 775) but we have politicians lying to us daily. Claiming they've used public funds for projects when that wasn't the case and are living their best lives. Why can't they be held to that standard? They are public servants so why are they treated like gods? They aren't better than the average Ghanaian.

Really scary time to be a citizen in Ghana; Ecocide, floods, poor healthcare, deplorable roads, Femicide and now arresting citizens for libel. Are they using her as the scapegoat? Is it to deter Ghanaians for speaking up against the government? To make us even more meek and submissive? What does that say to people who might want to speak up for their rights?

I think the President should have sued for defamation or something else. This doesn't sit right with me at all. If you think the jail sentence is fitting you can argue your case, those who think otherwise can do same. I just think using her as the scapegoat isn't fair because she's of a lower class.

A NATION OF JANITORS

Happy We've Spent The 1.5 billion Ghana Cedis in Sanitisation Levies So I'll impose Cleaning The Streets On Citizens Day. Yaay!

Hello all, I hope you guys are preparing to go and clean the streets today since its your fault for causing the yearly flooding in Accra for the past 50 years.

Yes, we forced the hands of our leaders to be corrupt so they'll give out building permits in Ramsar cites and waterlogged areas.

Our leaders have every right to embezzle funds meant for keeping the country clean and for building proper drainage systems because we have nothing doing today so we have to clean the streets of Accra. In fact let's do it everyday! My broom is magical so it will stop the floods, nothing to do with poor urban planning and corruption.

After today, it is never going to flood in Accra again because we'll gather rubbish and dump that same rubbish in a waterlogged area, a practice far better than using recycling plants because the sole cause of the June 29 disaster, which led to over 10 Ghanaians dying, is littering. Countries like Japan and the Netherlands are fools for heavily investing in flood prevention when they could have just made their citizens sweep the streets.

Cleaning our neighbourhoods, that's really going to show the next torrential rain of about 140mm who's boss. Hurray!

I'm Glad Blackstars Lost

Good riddance! I don't know much about football but I know that the Ghana men's football team suck, yet still, we waste millions of dollars on them every major tournament. It is a money laundering scheme at this point. Even the blind could have seen that loss coming from a mile away. I'm just upset that some greedy people found a way to pocket some money.

Ghana for you, we keep rewarding incompetence. If the Black Princesses had a sliver of support that the Blackstars have, like their performance would be out of this world. The Black Queens are on a winning streak but are still neglected. Even with the little given to them, they are a far better team than Blackstars, yet still, they always face mistreatment.

Ghana Blackstars will never go back to its glory days(even the "glory" in those days were mediocre sometimes) in my lifetime. With the help of corrupt GFA, even Ghana at 1000 kraa, Blackstars will still be pupu. They should channel some funds to the Black Queens and Princesses to save face or the Ministry of Sports and Recreation should invest in other sports or just throw GFA away and use those funds for Children, less privileged or even for party. Better than that eyesore called Blackstars.

Greater-Accra under water

What did Ghanaians do to deserve such wicked useless leaders. We let them get away with so much yet they can't even do a quarter of what is supposed to be done.

So many people are missing, people who have homes, so you just imagine the people who sleep on the streets and under bridges and its still f*cking raining. The casualties after this rain is going to be horrific. So painful because all this could have been prevented if we didn't have greedy money hungry employees.

I honestly can't believe this. Places with no prior history of flooding are now experiencing floods. No one is safe, well except for those who constantly steal from us, they are on vacation; experiencing good roads, healthcare etc while we drown, lose our loved ones and lose our properties.

And we'll just f*cking sit there, smile in their face and call them "Honourable". I'm so upset! Like we can't do anything and when you try to do something, you're accused of treason or you're imprisoned. These fuckers get away with everything. They laugh in our faces every single day.

Thousands of lives ruined, all this could have been prevented but we have myopic leaders who steal so much that they now have the audacity to try and monitor our personal lives. If you've convinced yourself Ghana isn't becoming a totalitarian state then I don't know.

Anyways, the Minister of Interior said we should stay home and not go anywhere because it isn't safe, as if said homes aren't flooded and that we're standing on our roofs for safety whilst dead bodies and our entire lives float away.

FCK NPP, Fck NDC for f*cking us over for over half a century.Screw everyone who has held a leadership position in this country and didn't do crap. I hope you all mistake dettol for water

Ghana's Democracy, non-existent!

It is really and truly finished. Parliament has passed the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill.Such an ironic name for a bill. The Homophobes, the Bigots and the Perverts have won. So concerned about what people are doing behind closed doors. Family Values Bill my foot. When people especially women and children get raped and sexually assaulted, it's crickets from the government.

How can we employ people, yet all they do is steal and infringe upon our rights? The leaders of this country turn a blind eye or actively participate in Galamsey. Illegal mining activities(in fact mining in general) slowly poisoning approximately 35 million Ghanaians.

We are not a democratic country, we just keep electing different tyrants.

They already don't work, so why are they concerned about who we chose to mingle with? Why is parliament imposing prison sentences from 6-months to 3 years for individuals identifying as LGBTQ+. The same applying to advocates and sponsors. Does this make sense? Common right to clean drinking water, we don't have but this is what they chose go focus on.

All the Homophobes who are happy with this, remember that you're not safe. Anyone can accuse you or your family member of being Gay and you can get arrested and then what? Already you guys get profiled by Ghana police when you have piercings, locs, tattoos etc, so you just imagine. It'll reach everybody, be there and be jubilating.

Although the bill is awaiting a presidential assent, I feel so hopeless because who knows what Scam George has against the president that will make him want to execute the law despite the President of Ghana saying the bill is not Ghana's priority.

Sachet water at 100 cedis per bag

How did we go from trusting our source of water so much that 10 years ago, you could go to a stranger's house and get water tied in a bag to now drinking typhoid infested water with a dabble of Mercury.

We are going to be importing water in 2030. This isn't any fear mongering or karma whatever, it's just plain facts. This observation was made as early as 2016, and what did our leaders do? They gave more mining licences and permits even for forest reserves. And you know the greed of a Ghanaian knows no bounds so you can imagine how they are going to exploit the situation. Don't be shocked that a bag of sachet water will be at 100 gh. This is going to cause hyper inflation, it'll make Accra the most expensive city in the world not because it looks like Monaco, but because of Galamsey. Unemployment crisis coupled with water crisis?

Old greedy Ghanaian politicians with the help of some foreign countries have really stolen our youth and dare I say our future. There is a temporary shutdown of the Kpeve Treatment Plant, due to extreme turbidity levels. How are we going to cope? We won't even get polluted water to drink or to cook with, let alone for hygiene purposes? How will chemist's make our drugs? Where will hospitals get Saline? No matter the improvisation our healthcare workers make(that's if we'll have any due to brain drain), the casualties...

Galamsey prone areas are witnessing a surge in teenage pregnancy, child trafficking, robbery, rape and murder. Children are going to be slaves, as if children aren't an afterthought already. These terrorists(miners) steal newborn babies and use them for rituals so you just imagine when they fully mobilise. They are already heavily armed and have created militias, locals have created vigilante groups too so they'll clash, this can lead to a civil war.

I believe in the power of protests, let's also come together! I know its easier said than done but we have to fight back! We can't allow them to win. They are literally laughing in our faces both politicians and miners especially on tiktok. If they weren't in cahoots, why can't the BNI(Bureau of National Investigations)trace the culprits and put them in jail, they boldly post about their terrorism online.

DEAR DIASPORA

Please you guys should really be mindful of who you hang out with and some establishments you frequent when visiting Ghana. Accra's nightlife scene is filled with Pedophiles and rapists.

When going on holiday, I'm sure you guys research into detail about what goes on in a certain country. The same should be applied to Ghana(I know Ghana is home so you don't really think much about but, I think you guys should be interested in local news now.) You'll see how horrible the country you romanticise on "Independence day", Easter and Detty December really is.

I see you guys hang out with weirdos all the time, some people are told and then decide to still hang out with them because...I know some of you are not aware and that's why keeping up with the news is important. 36 year old Joshua Kojo Anane Boate or "SoAfrican" has been arrested for drugging, raping and distributing secretly filmed videos with his victims. He's friends with other weirdos like Dezzydothis, a sexual assualter who is still roaming the streets of Accra. Becareful, especially to the women, please! Stay informed and be vigilant! It'll also be nice if you guys can boycott some establishments like Afro-future, Frontback etc. There are so many shady businesses in Accra that you patronise, seeing those businesses thrive is like a slap in the face especially the ones established with our taxes.

My heart really goes out to the victims, trying to unwind in Accra after hardwork, only for some rapist to take advantage. His investigation has led to other revelations where Ghanaian men and a woman, take pictures of children around the age of 5 and 6 years old and they send to a Pedo syndicate in Australia. So horrible and heartbreaking.

You guys are targets, so you have to be as informed as possible. This is coming from a place of concern. I know back home, Racism exists and you guys go through so much and you come back to Ghana to unwind but please!

Ghana's Funeral Culture

Some of our traditions are so...

Why can't we just grieve with the bereaved, why are strings attached? Why can't we just say our condolences and leave? Why must we put so much pressure on them to serve us and provide us with entertainment. Even when grieving families provide all these things, you still hear people gossip about them that they aren't doing enough.

I know we give Nsawa bodeɛ(funeral donations) but does that mean that we should be entitled to them for hosting? Why can't we sympathise with them and go? I get that people travel from far distances and have to find accommodation etc but still, it's so sad watching families suppressing their tears just to host.

As soon as its January, all you see from the Ghanaian Diaspora is how fun "Independence Day" will be and how much "Ghana is a movie" from their Detty December vlogs. When it comes to national issues, most of them are quiet. Especially when it comes to Galamsey, they never use their social media accounts to bring awareness to the fact that we are being poisoned in Ghana. Always making tone deaf posts and they claim they never see what is going on but they know every tiktok trend and are mutuals with a lot of locals on twitter, even when they come and they leave the vicinity of Labone and Cantonments, they see how horrible things are.

To the Diaspora, if you love your country so much that you go all out for "Independence Day", why do you always pretend that you've not seen or heard about the devastating effects of Galamsey(Illegal Mining)? Meanwhile too some of your uncles and aunties live in those heavily polluted towns and you visit them yearly. All the food you ate in Ghana have traces of Lead, Cynide and Mercury, you drank and bathed with Galamseyfied water. All those hauls you're doing on Tiktok about the things you brought from Ghana(your plantain chips, fish, kenkey, chocolate, spices etc) have carcinogens in them. So if you think, "I'm far away, my family and I are good so I don't care." think again lol. Your tone deafness and your deliberate silence will not save you. But yeah, "Ghana is movie and we party till the Sun comes out."👍🏾#StopGalamseyNow
