Looking for reviews/experience/anecdotes of Caterina Lichtenberg on Artist Works

Basically the title. I am a beginner that wants to start learning classical mandolin, and there are no local classical teachers near me. I saw Caterina Lichtenberg featured on David Benedict's YouTube channel and was impressed by her skill and seemingly easy personality- she seems like she would be a good teacher.

TIA

Looking for in-person lessons in Western PA

Hi all,

I was wondering if anybody could help me search for in-person mandolin lessons in a more efficient way. I've already tried the Mandolin Cafe, and Google searches and emailing to my local music stores. Our local University does lessons for more conventional instruments, but I'm still waiting to hear back from them as to whether or not they can provide mandolin lessons. I know there are plenty of online options out there, but I just tend to do better with an in-person teacher.

I have deliberately avoided Facebook as I deleted my account a long time ago, but if a Facebook group is the only way to locate a teacher, I can figure out a way to do that.

Thank you!

starting to get a little concerned with Z1 Off Road's customer service

long story short, i ordered a LiquiMoly oil change kit from Z1. the package arrived damaged, containing only the LiquiMoly. the OEM filter, the crush washer, the little windshield sticker, all missing.

its obvious the shipping box was damaged, opened, and messily resealed with packing tape at some point in its journey to me.

i called customer service, was put on hold for ~10 mins to only be forwarded to a voicemail. i left a message, never received a callback. i then opted to email their CS address, more or less repeating what i've said here, and including photos of the box's condition and what was inside it. still no response.

my '20 SV is/was low mileage when i bought it (~33k) and i'm now at the point where the dealership maintenance items are starting to run their course. i was really excited to use Z1 because of how comprehensive they are with Nissan products, but this experience is leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

also, i should have expected something like this, since they use FedEx as their shipper. i'm pretty pissed that i paid $27 shipping in order for the shipper to beat the hell out of my package and lose its contents (i'm assuming the package condition is not Z1's fault).

i was looking forward to doing my first oil change, but now i'm waiting on CS response to figure out how to move forward. rant over.

Anyone have some pros/cons of picking up John Klingberg? Seems like there are more upsides than downsides, mainly helping lead the PP

I know DB doesn't have any aggressive targets now that the offer sheet drama is done... But some lazy research suggested to me that he could be a solid addition for a 1 year trial run without being too big of a cap hit. "PP quarterback" and being paired with Seeler were some of the most common pros I saw.

I withheld my opinion from a patient and feel like I lied to him

More like venting than ranting.

I work inpatient acute rehab. We had a patient that had a thoracic laminectomy and fusions, with a 10" incision and staples along his spine. He developed an infection (despite thoroughly documented wound care by staff) and the start of a dehiscence in the more inflamed areas over the course of about a week.

It fell on me to take pictures, contact the neurosurgeon, and arrange for this patient to be seen in the town where the surgery was performed (about 1.5 hrs away). The patient was very anxious and catastrophizing, so constantly ringing his bell to ask "what ifs" and repeat the litany of potential complications that the neurosurgeon had recited to him. Is it infected, are my screws popping out (lol?). I had to repeatedly say that it wasn't our place to diagnose anything related to the surgery, that we weren't a neurosurgery unit, that yes it could be infected but it could also be fine, we can't know anything until the neurosurgeon looks at it, etc.

The thing is, I knew it was infected. Anyone with a minimum of experience could have looked at it and said, yeah, that's not good, you're going to get washed out and probably have a wound vac or at least a drain or two.

I just feel like I spent a ton of time lying to this person every time I said "we just don't know yet" and "it may be fine" and it's got me feeling shitty.

I feel stupid bringing this up, but how do I get past my over-reaction to biting insects (mosquitoes, flies, etc)

I'm on a path that has been an amazing journey so far. I recently embraced some nudism at my camp (a private, non-public area) for the purposes of really feeling the changes in the wind, the sun, bathing in thunderstorms, etc. I am not constantly nude, moreso just for certain rituals.

However, i naturally end up drawing mosquitos and biting flies during the time where I am trying to meditate and focus the most. I do try to use natural repellants like citronella candles and citronella -infused oil in my outdoor lamps and torches, but it's never 100%. I don't have a problem with using deet spray, but part of me feels that that is not in the spirit of communing with nature.... And I don't want to empty a can all over myself every day. But as soon as I see or hear or feel the bite of a skeeter, my body is on high alert and every little brush against my skin is a distraction from what I'm really trying to feel. I end up slapping at myself and completely losing focus, giving into this frantic paranoia that I need to keep things from biting me. Also, I am a scratcher. If the bite is bad enough I will sometimes scratch myself raw, and keeping myself from scratching takes all of my willpower.

I'd like to hear some opinions from you guys- am I going about this wrong? Is this something to overcome or am I over thinking it?

*To be clear, I do appreciate the repellant suggestions. But I've also seen people that are somehow just naturally fine with being bitten up. They can literally have like 50+ mosquitos on just their leg and completely ignore it. It that zen or neuropathy? Part of me wonders if one of the prices of achieving a higher spiritual awareness is learning to let them bite and just ignore them... Which would be insanely difficult for me.

for context, western PA (zone 6a) here. i bought unnamed cultivars from an orchard out in Lancaster, they finally arrived and i just put them in starter cells to sprout them. i know its late in the season, but i'm going to get them safely in the ground as soon as i can.

i'm looking forward to someday getting to try my own!

welp, i'm finally at the 'dead battery, not replacing it' point

after reading some other posts about battery life, i generally scoffed at them. now, however, just over one year into use, my battery abruptly crashed. it went from having the solid ~10 day charge to having less than 2 days' charge in a matter of a week.

i don't buy the "well its a small battery" argument, the dying should have been a little more prolonged than this. i think it's planned obsolescence.

either way, just wanted to throw my two cents out there. have a great life y'all

Anyone have experience or anecdotes from either DMAT or PAMRC?

I just learned about the Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT, Federal) and Pennsylvania Medical Reserve Corps (PAMRC, state/local).

Anyone have experience, anecdotes, etc with either the federal program or your respective local programs? This is something that is up my alley but I'd like to gather as much info as I can.

Someone in the PA sub was telling me it has the potential for CE credits as well as unique training/travel potential, so I'd like to hear as much as I can about it from people that are/have been in it.

Also, if it matters, I'm acute care but not critical+ care.

I'd like to read some opinions/experiences from anyone involved in the PA Medical Reserve Corps

I'm an RN and just learned about the PAMRC. I do like supporting my community and this seems like it would be a good fit for me, but I want to get as much info as I can first. Any anecdotes, links, etc would be welcome. Bonus points for Western PA/Lawrence Co. anecdotes.

i'm new to iDatalink- can someone tell me if this product list is correct for my '20 Nissan Frontier upgrade?

hi all,

i've done plenty of older car stereos before, as well as speakers and amps... so i'm not totally new to all of this. what i am new to, however, is iDatalink, external bluetooth antennas, external aux/usb ports, etc.

i have a 20 Nissan Frontier that has (i think) all of these. steering wheel controls, i think the bluetooth antenna is a seperate component, it definitely has external aux/usb. the issue is that the bluetooth in the stock Nissan stereo died completely. well, that and lack of Android Auto support. i'm currently using the Aux for music/podcasts but that isn't tenable, especially since i rely on steering wheel controls kinda heavily.

so i'm looking at replacing the stock Nissan stereo with an aftermarket stereo that supports all of that. i'm not looking to go crazy on the stereo itself, it just needs to be functional. here's the list of components that research has led me to believe i'll need to get:

mounting kit

iDatalink harness

steering wheel control interface

stereo

can anyone tell me if this will work? i'm pretty sure these are mostly universal components/adapters and this should all plug and play, with the exception of the steering wheel interface... i'm pretty sure i'll have to program that manually, which is no big deal.

so am i missing anything? does this list cover what i need to replace my stereo?
