We prepped veggies, now battle lines are drawn: steam them or saute them?

[see list below]
We're trying to cook more at home and to eat more healthy, fresh food but we're not very experienced at preparing tasty dishes with fresh ingredients.

What's the best way to season and cook what we have?
For the record, my SO and I don't like roasted vegetables, and the thought of boiling vegetables makes me cringe. So maybe sauté or steam? My SO wants it one way and I want it the other, but we're happy eating it either way.

We prepped the following fresh veggies and we'd like to bring them to life. We can use all or any of the ingredients in this list:

1.5 cups sliced summer squash
1 c cabbage (pieces)
1 c broccoli (small florets)
1 c sliced onions (chunky crescents)
1/2 c carrots (thin slices)
1/2 c celery (thin slices)
1 clove garlic
[seaoning?]

Our pantry is (somewhat) well-stocked and we have a decent assortment of condiments, spices, and cooking oils.

The installers said they didn't mind if Alice wanted to help, so she inspected their progress

For the record, out of courtesy I always ask if it's OK before I let Alice go to my visitors. I realize some people don't like dogs and that's alright. I always hope they'll change their mind because of Alice's cuteness. These guys loved her, which is usually the outcome.

I'm not a hiker, so I need help choosing a gift for a friend who will be hiking the El camino de Santiago in September.

Whenever I think of a gift, I quickly assume she may already have it and I'm stumped for original ideas. I considered but wasn't sure about getting her a small "moleskin" journal, a durable whistle, hiking socks, hair ties ... are these items she would already have or not need? I appreciate any experienced hikers' suggestions.

It was almost too tiny to notice sitting on my wild geranium, but its iridescent wings flashed in sunlight and caught my eye.

Can anyone help me understand this? All I'm sure of is "Thank you, Diana"

This is a screenshot of a handwritten note shown near the end of episode 1 (season 1) in the PBS series "Professor T"

What is this stand of tiny white malodorous growths?

We have been converting our woodland yard into an almost entirely native landscape, leaving the natives we inherited when we bought the house two years ago and pulling out the problematic stuff (SO. MUCH. MUGWORT. But also tons of beautiful wood and blue aster!).

About a week ago, we noticed that our yard began to smell like someone had tried to cover the smell of a rotting animal carcass with mothballs and lilac spray (seriously, it’s like a vinegary-death smell with floral notes). We had a hidden dead animal problem last summer (solved: it was two squirrels under our now-demolished shed) so thought it might be the same. I have been sniffing every known and possible woodchuck burrow to see if maybe one died in there but to no avail.

Last night, we finally tracked it down to this patch of unknown sprouts/shoots. I have tried to identify it via Picture This and every descriptive term I can think of in a Google search. Does anyone know what this is? Should I be concerned? Do I need to set this whole patch of my yard on fire (kidding)?

The mystery of the scent has been driving me batty, but now that I have found the source, I’m still at a loss as to what it is and what, if anything, I should do to remediate it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

TL;DR what is this foul-smelling stand of mystery shoots/fungi in my yard?

(In RI, zone 6B)

A subreddit to find a video that I can't find by searching its title

I'm searching for a particular video that I can't find and I don't know if there's a subreddit that would help me look. The sub r/helpmefind was my first thought, but it has a rule that you can't ask for help finding a viral meme or video, so I don't know where else to look.

I saw the video on Reddit several days ago. Title was "Doggo understands the assignment" and it showed a pitbull watching a man getting treats for hitting a button, then the dog imitated the same button-action to also get a treat. The dog was wearing an outfit and was sitting down throughout the session.

What's in your dog's bowl?

Royal canin kibbles, two blueberries, two shreds of broccoli, an allergy chew, and a banana chip treat + fragment.

Is this Haircap moss? I was called a dork because I saw it in my yard and was so excited that I announced it at breakfast. Even when I showed pictures, no one understood my pleasure.

Refinishing 1960s Teak Furniture

Not selling anything, not a business; these are personal pieces of furniture that were passed down to me and I want to show how I refinish them. I organized my process and wrote it down step-by-step and added pictures to demonstrate results.

My intention is to show off the beauty of these pieces (purchased by my parents in 1961 in Europe when my father was stationed there). I am not endorsing any of the products shown here although I comment on their efficiency. There are other brands that perform as well.

I'm open to any constructive criticism of my process. I am an amateur, not a professional and would appreciate feedback.

My idea is to include an option to sort comments by "OP" as well as "New" "Best" etc.

Often times a commenter will ask OP a question and the response by the OP can get lost in collapsed threads or difficult to find by scanning and scrolling. If I could sort by OP I would be able to see all of OP's responses

Planting violets created a nursery for rare native butterflies. The Regal Fritillary (Speyeria idalia) specifically depends upon violets for its caterpillars

Three or so years ago I planted violets throughout my back yard as a ground cover to start a wildflower garden (the picture shows progress in 2024, now more of the yard is covered). Every spring now the ground is totally purple and yesterday I saw this species of butterfly for the first time.

Sweet visitors on my native Liatris (blazing star)

These days I'm focusing more on adding native North American plants to draw in more beneficial pollinators. They flutter by to thank me every day and put on a show.

They look cute together now, but will they thrive together when they mature, or will they compete?

Pretty combination that I did not expect, which is the best kind, but if yarrow and wild geranium can't live together, which one will "win" in the end?

Saved this little fella from someone who was ready to smash it thinking it was a tick. It's a cute little weevil, leave it alone!

My Calla lilies look so elegant, so exquisite, so pristine that Gordon proudly claims them as his own. (yes I named him, I don't care if you roll your eyes!)

Please excuse the amateur camera work!

Woot! Woot! What time is it?

Can anyone give me the name of this little cutie? (we call him Gordon)

Does OP see replies to first level comments only? Or do they also get a notification when someone replies to a another user's comment (not to their original post)?

Some posts get reply threads that expand to several levels down, with people replying to the post, then someone commenting on that comment, then people replying to the next comment etc.

I know I get notified when someone replies directly to my post or my comments, but I'm not sure if I get notified for replies to every comment in long expanded threads.

When I am the OP, I want to read the entire comment collection and not just direct replies to my post. In order to do that, do I need to go back to the original post and open it to read all jof the new replies to comments, or will I get notified when someone comments on another person's comment? It would help to get notified for every comment and every reply to every comment.
