DIY bushings and the leather hole punch method
I like matching the colors of my wheels and bushings, but it’s been hard to find different colors in my country. Does anyone here use bushings made with a leather hole punch? Do they actually work?

I'm new to fingerboarding and, after doing a lot of searching through this subreddit, I ended up getting a Leefai G4. So far, I'm really enjoying them.
After digging a little deeper, I found out that Leefai also makes some openly inspired copies of brands like Obsius and Dynamics. From what I understand, the G4 is kind of a mix of different designs, which might be why it performs so well.
What about the replicas though? Has anyone here tried them? How do they compare to the originals? Are they actually comparable, or only when compared to other Chinese trucks? Are they worth buying?
I've only been in the hobby for about a month, and I'm not really willing to spend a lot on parts right now. At the moment I'm just trying to have fun, and I don't know enough of the technical side to fully appreciate the difference between a very expensive setup and a more budget-friendly one.
That said, I'd still like to try different truck designs to learn more about how things like weight, geometry, and overall feel affect the riding experience. That's mainly why I'm curious about the replicas.
I caught the fingerboard bug recently and finally put together my first real setup after years of using cheap plastic Tech Decks.
- 32mm handmade imbuia/ash deck
- Leefai G4 trucks
- Basic bearing wheels
- Basic tape
Honestly, it feels like a completely different world. The weight, grip, and overall feel are nothing like the plastic toy setups I was used to.
Right now I'm learning shove-its, pop shove-its, nose shove-its, and ollies. I've also discovered that nollies are apparently impossible. 😂
I'm completely new to fingerboarding, so any setup or trick progression tips are welcome!
I got an apple green shell for my PSP 1000.
But I really like the matte-textured front plate that came with my IPS screen. My hands sweat a lot, so the texture actually makes a big difference for me. I’m thinking about only using the green shell on the back and keeping the matte black front.
Do you guys think that combo would look good or would it end up looking awkward?
While digging through my closet I found an imbuia wood deck I ordered a long time ago from a guy who used to make them by hand.
Now I’m looking for parts to build it and noticed it’s 32mm wide, so I’m not sure which truck size I should get: 32mm or 29mm. Can you guys help me out?
I’m pretty new to this. I’ve had a few plastic Tech Decks over the years, but this is my first time putting together something nicer.
They really are everything people say. Feels like I’d never actually listened to music properly before. I came from Apple in-ear earbuds and I’m completely hooked.
I swapped the earpads for some cheap aftermarket ones while I wait for my Yaxi pads to arrive. Honestly, the price-to-performance on these is kind of absurd.
I’ve always used in-ears because I was a bit self-conscious about wearing headphones in public, but I think the sound quality more than makes up for the look. And honestly, I’m getting used to carrying them around.
My playlists are mostly rock, and the bass is incredible. I’ve been re-listening to my favorite albums and rediscovering songs with details I’d never noticed before.
I noticed the headset version has a screw where the mic attaches, and now I’m curious if all Porta Pros share the same structure or if it’s just a manufacturing shortcut.
I found a broken headset version locally and wondered if the mic could be transplanted to a regular Porta Pro.
